The summer vacations arrived. That meant Bette and Tina going back to L.A. to reunite with their daughter and their friends, both equally excited. They had of course been in contact every day but going in person was obviously different. One day when Alice was in the phone with Tina she popped the idea of the 4 of them meeting to play beach volleyball saying that a girl she was dating was a pro and she wanted to develop her "'skills''. That's all it took for them to start the hype of playing together and form a different kind of bond: the competitive one.
And when the time came and they all met to play volleyball they had the time of their lives, mixing teams, being competitive and careful about the score so no one could cheat. It became a new "tradition" as they called it, playing a different sport every week or if they liked one they would meet up to play that again. Their age definitely didn't stop them as they had tried even football, running around like childs in the field trying to score. This Sunday it was their turn to play tennis as they found a free court to rent near the beach. They messaged each other in the group chat and made plans to meet up, all 4 of them geared up.

"Ok how do you even hold this thing" Alice asked being the confused one once again as she tried to find the correct grip of the racket.
"I am not gonna answer that" replied Shane with a smirk on her face. She got close to Alice and showed her the correct grip. "I remember a stuff or two from Dana" she said
"Thanks Shaney! Um then I guess you are the only one who knows how to at least hit that fucking ball. The rest of us will send it off the court!" said Alice laughing with Tina and Shane while Bette looked at them amused already by the reply she is gonna give.
"Well I know some things" Bette replied casually
"For God's sake Bette" Alice stood with her eyes wide at Bette's confession "How do you always know everything that we play?" she pleaded, sadness washing her because she knew she will never find anything that Bette will not know.
"I am not gonna tell you my secret Alice" Bette replied nonchalantly.
Shane was watching the exchange with her calm demeanor on, not really caring about the game while Tina was blindsided again because she didn't know Bette knew tennis. The same thing happened for her when they went to play American football the week before and Bette knew how to play quite well. She let it slide until they were alone so she could ask her.
"Ok what are the teams?" asked Shane
"I am with Bette"
"I am with Tina"
Bothe Bette and Tina said their preferences in unison
"Of course" replied Alicen annoyed.
"Let them" answered Shane "We are going to that side and you are starting to serve."
"Alright" Bette said
Both pairs took their sides and prepared to start the game.

"Bette?" said Tina, hinting that she was worried when they went to their side.
"Yes T?"
"How do you know tennis? I feel like I don't know important stuff about you like last week with American football. When did I miss these?"
"Relax T." Bette gave her a reassuring smile "American football is just catch, run or throw the ball. Nothing more. And about tennis.... well I um saw a video at YouTube for an amateur starting tennis and I picked up some things." Bette replied shyly not wanting to make a fool of her self about it.
"Oh god" Tina laughed
"Too much?" Bette now was worried she took it far and she didn't like her full competitiveness coming back into the surface.
"No baby you are perfect that way." Tina smiled and leaned in for a kiss " I love you"
"I love you too"
"COME ON YOU LOVEBIRDS. WILL WE EVER START?" Alice started shouting thinking they couldn't hear her, waking Bette and Tina from their loving moment.
The game started with some small breaks between to catch their breath.

"Let's go Shane!' Alice cheered.
Shane apparently was better than anyone expected leaving Bette confused after she hit a forehand exactly at the line that Bette couldn't return.
"Well she knows more than 1 or 2 things" Bette said to Tina. Tina knew immediately her competitiveness was creeping in and began to ease her.
"Bette it's ok. You are playing really good from just a video." Tina's voice was sincere and her eyes reflecting the love for the woman in front of her. "Play to Alice if needed" she said to lighten up the moods and then went to kiss her softly on the lips. It had an immediate effect with Bette laughing in response and winning the next points.

They had agreed to play 2 sets, the winner of 4. 1st set went to Bette and Tina winning it 4-3 and it was time for their big break. They went and sat on the 2 benches that were provided.
"Well I really like this one. We should keep it for next week too" Tina said while she was trying to catch her breath.
"Yeah cuz you are always checking out Porter's ass" replied Alice while she threw her hands in the air as a sign of giving up. "I dont want to know how your loneliness in Toronto is"
Bette smirked and looked at Tina who looked back at her smiling. They shared a quick kiss and then got up to continue the game.

Bette and Tina were close to end the game. They needed a few points for their 4th game. But while Tina was serving and Bette was up to the net she missed an easy volley and they lost the game making it again 3-3.
"Fuck me" she groaned loudly "Just... fuck me" she repeated and went back to the base line cause it was Alice's turn to serve. Tina came closed to her and whispered seductively.
"No need to shout it babe. I would be happy too"
Bette grinned, met the blonde´s eyes and kissed her passionately. Tina opened her mouth, allowing their tongues to intertwine.
"Oh my God!" Alice said angrily from the other side of the court" I can't take this anymore. Every time they win a freaking point they kiss and now too?" Alice groaned while Shane was just happy for the happiness of her friends. "JUST STOP ALREADY. I AM SERVING"
With that the couple broke the kiss and went to finish the game winning 4-3, 4-3. Bette and Tina jumped, hugged and celebrated their win while Alice was annoyed with them.
"God I can't with you two" she said
"What's that?" Bette questioned breaking their embrace.
"You just can't keep you hands off off each other"
Bette blushed. "So lunch tomorrow at Dana's?" Tina asked intertwining her fingers with Bette's.
"No" Alice was quick to answer " God no. I have had enough of you two. Just stay in your bed or whatever." With that she left the court with Shane following her after she hugged the couple.
"Love you guys." She said and left.
"Love you too" they said in unison" We love you Alice" they shouted while Alice gave them the middle finger.
"Well that brings an end to our new tradition." the brunette said with a pout "Let's go home"
They picked too their stuff and exited the court.
