“I lied, put your clothes back on I’m going to explain the lore of my favourite book”

Summary:

Kim Dokja trying to subtly (by which I mean not subtly at all) explain to his boyfriend that sex is kind of overrated

Chapter Text

One evening Kim Dokja was locked in the closet reading a book (because he needed to be surrounded by a nest of his boyfriend’s clothes to peacefully read, as one does) and he may have fallen asleep at one point. 

 

“Dokja? Dokja? Are you hiding? Are you mad about something?” Yoo Joonghyuk called out, searching the entire house. Annoyed, he eventually went to cook his boyfriend’s favourite food in the kitchen, hoping that would lure him out. 

 

Kim Dokja woke up again and just continued reading the sentence he was on, as if he hadn’t fallen asleep in the first place. 

 

It was a weird sentence, really weird, what the hell was happening- 

 

He dropped the book, with wide eyes. Carefully, he lifted it up again like it was going to attack him, and this time he felt awkward reading it. 

 

It took him a while for him to realise the book just jump scared him with a sex scene. He’s gotten used to filtering out certain things when he read web novels, and forgot to actually check for warnings on physical books.  

 

The problem here was Kim Dokja may or may not have forgotten that sex was a real thing, that real people do, unironically, in real life. 

 

But it was alright, it wasn’t something he ever had to worry about. 

 

He dropped the book.

 

“Shit I have boyfriend.” 

 

He came out the closet and ran downstairs, where Yoo Joonghyuk had just finished cooking.

 

“There you are,” his boyfriend sighed. “Were you hiding?” 

 

“What? No I was just reading.”

 

“Can you not disappear from existence every time you read?” 

 

“It’s part of the process!” he insisted. 

 

Yoo Joonghyuk sighed and set the table. When he was done, Kim Dokja hugged him tightly.

 

“I really like you.”

 

“…I like you too?” Yoo Joonghyuk said, confused. He lifted Kim Dokja’s chin up. “Do you want something?”

 

“What, I can’t just hug the love of my life just because I feel like it?” he pouted.

 

“You can, and I encourage it.” He kissed his forehead. 

 

Kim Dokja smiled softly.

 

“Come on, let’s eat dinner.” He led him to the table.

 

It was quiet, and peaceful, with just the sound of Kim Dokja’s loud clattering fork because bitchass can’t eat quietly. 

 

“So how was your day-“

 

“Joonghyuk-ah have you ever heard of the concept known as sex?”

 

“A couple of times, yes.”

 

“Thoughts?”

 

“It sure exists.”

 

“Do you ever find yourself wishing it didn’t?”

 

“I don’t think I really care.”

 

“Interesting.” Kim Dokja sipped his drink. 

 

“…Is this your way of saying you want to have sex?”

 

He chocked on his drink.

 

“That’s so vulgar! We’re eating right now.” He complained. 

 

“Ok.”

 

They finished eating and washed the dishes together.

 

“Can you answer the question now?” 

 

Kim Dokja looked away awkwardly.

 

“Hypothetically, what if I erased your memory of this conversation?”

 

“You can erase memories?” He smiled, amused.

 

“Want a demonstration?” He lifted up a heavy pan.

 

“No need.” Yoo Joonghyuk took it from him before he dropped it. “Dokja, is there something you want to tell me?”

 

“N-no.”

 

“Ok.”

 

They continued washing the dishes in silence, except for the sound of Yoo Joonghyuk yelling at the dishes to stop being so hard to clean.

 

Otherwise it was silent. 

 

Silent.

 

“Sex is weird and I don’t like it and I don’t want you to stop liking me because I don’t like it.” Kim Dokja blurted. 

 

“Don’t be foolish, I’d never break up with you over something that silly,” Yoo Joonghyuk said, putting the last dish away. 

 

“But it’s a big deal to most people-“

 

“Well it’s not to me. And you’re more important anyway.” He stroked his hair and Kim Dokja relaxed in his touch. “And I already knew anyway.”

 

He blinked. “What? How?”

 

“Because the first time we met was at a party in college and you said “I lied put your clothes back on I’m going to explain to you the lore of my favourite book.””

 

“Did you like hearing me explain the lore?”

 

“I liked it enough to live with you and hear you explain more of it every night.” 

 

Kim Dokja smiled and hugged him. 

 

“I like you no matter what, you know that?” Yoo Joonghyuk whispered.

 

He nodded and hugged him tighter. 

 

“Joonghyuk-ah I’m so sad the web novel is on hiatus.”

 

“Yes, you’ve only told me every single night for 2 weeks.” 

 

He pouted and slumped onto him.

 

“Ok fine I know how to cheer you up.” Yoo Joonghyuk lifted him from the ground and brought him to their room.

 

“I’ll reread the web novel with you and review each chapter.” 

 

Kim Dokja’s eyes sparkled.

 

“Really? You’d really do that?”

 

“Until I fall asleep. Which will probably be after one chapter.”

 

Kim Dokja hugged him happily.

 

“I really like you.”

 

He smiled, kissing his cheek. “I like you too. I’m never letting you go, okay?” 

Notes:

I don’t hate people who enjoy sex I just like making fun of the concept of sex itself because it’s funny (sex favourable asexuals I see you and you are important to me 🫶)

Yoo Joonghyuk hated parties. He only went to this one because it was hosted by his friend, but he couldn’t even find her. He sighed and stood in the corner, hoping no one spoke to him. 

 

“You look bored.” A voice said next to him.

 

He looked over and was about to tell the person to leave him alone, but couldn’t help but think the man speaking to him was really cute. He could entertain him with a conversation.

 

“I am bored,” he said bluntly.

 

“Can I fix that?” The other boy smiled mischievously.

 

“Sure.” Yoo Joonghyuk shrugged.

 

The shorter boy excitedly took his hand and led him back to his dorm room. This was perfect, he fell right into his trap. 

 

“What’s your name?” He asked sweetly.

 

“Yoo Joonghyuk.”

 

“I’m Kim Dokja” 

 

He locked the door and smiled at Yoo Joonghyuk. 

 

“Ok sit down.” He pushed him onto the bed.

 

Then… he got out a folder? A very large one at that, pages were falling out and post-stick notes stood out from each corner.

 

“Do you know what a web novel is?” Kim Dokja asked.

 

“…Is it a type of novel?”

 

“You’re so smart!” He said happily and for some reason Yoo Joonghyuk found it so endearing. “Ok so, in chapter one-“

 

“What- what’s happening?”

 

“You said you were bored. I’m explaining my favourite book to you.” 

 

“…This is not what I was expecting.”

 

“Are you disappointed?”

 

He looked disheartened and it made Yoo Joonghyuk feel so guilty so he said,

 

“No! No I’m VERY interested.”

 

Kim Dokja’s eyes lit up. He sat on Yoo Joonghyuk’a lap and showed him his notes and began explaining. After an hour, he felt a head fall on his shoulder. He looked over and noticed Yoo Joonghyuk had fallen asleep.

 

“Aw~ we haven’t even made it through chapter one.” He smiled fondly at him. 

 

Gently, he laid him on the bed and stroked his hair.

 

“Thanks for listening to me.” He whispered. 

 

The next morning, Yoo Joonghyuk woke up and felt arms around him, and his head was resting against someone’s chest. He looked up to see Kim Dokja cuddling him. He sighed content and wrapped his arms around him tightly. He was definitely never letting this man go.
