Work Text:
The year is 2011. And two young men, complete strangers are going to make a decision that changes their life forever.
~
Kim Seokjin puts his shoes on in a hurry, not bothering to tie them as he runs out the door. The bus he'd be taking to school would arrive in 2 minutes and he was already four minutes behind. Running as fast as his legs could carry him, he rounds a corner... then he steps on the shoelace of his shoe and trips. People around him all stop and stare, small gasps and "oh no"s could be heard. Seokjin's face, hands and arms are scratched up, red and bleeding just slightly as a stinging pain f ollows shortly after.
In the worst timing possible, the bus happens to come driving down the street and the boy watches as it passes him in a hurry to reach the people at the bus stop further away.
Well, there goes his ride.
Jin begins to stand when another boy, seemingly a little younger than him, comes running over. The boy has a worried expression on his face but it's soft as he asks Jin if he's okay. Seokjin simply nods and the boy's face changes from worried to happy as he tells Jin that he often hurts his legs when he's dancing, and then he offers the older a few of his bandages. The strange boy's happiness and overall warmth is infectious. Pretty soon they're both chatting as the boy accompanies Jin on his walk to school.
~
A young teenager runs up the stone pathway to his friend's house as he yells out his name.
"TAEHYUNG!"
The boy can barely knock on the door before it's swung open, revealing a young Taehyung on the other side. His boxy smile appears immediately and his eyes crease when he smiles. Taehyung's friend hands him a flyer which reads about auditions being held in a few weeks for a company named BigHit. Taehyung knew that it had been his friend's dream to become an idol ever since he performed for their school's talent show last year. While Taehyung enjoyed performing alongside his friend, being an idol wasn't what he wanted. He'd much rather be a solo artist or photographer.
His friend asks for Taehyung to go with him to the audition for moral support.
Taehyung declines. He made a promise to his mother grandmother that he'd help them with the garden.

Many years later
It's graduation day at Korean Arts High School. Taehyung's family all stand with him as the photographer takes a few pictures of the group as well as some solo shots.
Once done, the photographer congratulates Taehyung before moving on to the next group.
Taehyung feels immense happiness and pride as the realization of his accomplishment sinks in. Surely nothing could ever to this very moment.
~
A few more years later
Jin signs the contract of his first ever company as their first official actor and model.
"Welcome aboard!" The CEO says as he gives hand a quick shake. "It's a pleasure to have you sign with us."
"The pleasure is all mine," Jin says.
Years of hard work was paying off. He got second male lead of a drama last year, he's auditioning for lead role of another drama this year and now he's signed to a really good company. Things were looking up for him and he couldn't be more proud.
"We have someone we'd like you to meet. He just signed with us too and he'll be your main photographer."
Jin was intrigued. He didn't think he'd have his own personal main photographer.
"Hi!" the man greets once the CEO and Jin had stepped into the meeting room, "I'm Taehyung,".
Taehyung, to Jin, was absolutely handsome and adorable at the same time. Everything about Taehyung was captivating that Jin could hardly believe it.
"Hi, I'm Seokjin." Jin smiles.
Taehyung starts talking about how excited he is to work with him and how he has a few ideas in mind already.
"I was thinking we could do a rockstar photoshoot at some point. I feel like that would really suit you.;What do you think?"
"Yeah, that's perfect," Jin finds himself agreeing. In all honesty, he wasn't entirely listening as he was too caught up in the realization that a piece of him just felt complete. A piece he didn't know he was missing.
"Can I take you to dinner?"
"Oh- um, I mean,"
"Sorry! I didn't mean to ask it like that. I was just- I'd like to- ya'know talk more and get to know each other outside of work," Jin's voice quiets down, "and stuff."
Now they're both standing in the meeting room in awkward silence. Taehyung fiddling with his camera and Jin staring at the floor as his ears turn red from embarrassment.
~
Months go by since Jin and Taehyung's initial first meeting and they've become much more comfortable with each other. They hang out outside of work often, so much so that Jin invited Taehyung move into his house with him. At first Taehyung refused, for fear that he'd be intruding in on the older man's home and lifestyle but Jin insisted. And it's been pleasant having the younger around, even with all his oddness. Jin wouldn't give it up for the world.
~
A couple months later
Taehyung gets called into the office to meet the idol group, Bangtan Sonyeondan. There used to be nine total members until four left the group for various reasons. This left the group with only five members; RM, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, and Jungkook.
Taehyung had heard of Bangtan Sonyeondan and had listened to a few of their songs but he wouldn't have called himself a fan. When he told Jin he was meeting the idol group to discuss doing a photoshoot, Jin decided to tag along... because "I'm nosy" and totally not because he's protective of Taehyung and any potential threat that could steal him away.
In his defense, Taehyung was too precious for this world, an absolute bean. What if these Bangtan Sonyeondan boys tried to take advantage of him?
Not on Jin's watch!
Little did he know, this Bangtan group would be the other six pieces he didn't know he was missing.
