And you get me

Summary:

A peek into a chill evening with V

Work Text:

You’ve always liked research. Writing for you was always more about the external work that went into writing than the actual putting words to the page. Misaki had asked for a couple of favours and you, being the great friend you are, decided to investigate the best ways to dispose of …trash in your old haunts. Your need to trudge to records and details had led you into the server after all in these very same online corners. Whenever you had thoughts of the server it was always mixed. It was very nostalgic, even though it’s only been a year.

More than that, it was thrilling. You hated to admit it, it made you feel like a sick perverted voyeur to watch them talk about their kills like gold badges and their escapes like phenomena but it was so thrilling to get all the highs and none of the risks.

‘Well it used to a second-hand thrill’

Now you were with V and closer to the thrill than you had ever been before. Writing has never been this easy.  You hadn’t expected it but Valentin is…clingy (and you liked how precious he made you feel).

He had been so dismissive about your persistent flirting and irritated with your silly quips, but now he was the relentless one. If he was staying over, he greeted you with breakfast in bed and then he convinced you to stay in bed while he hand fed you. He - V - the man who had once sworn to end your existence was hand feeding you breakfast in bed with gentle pecks. You were so high off serotonin that if Vince had proposed to you, the two of you would have eloped.

Would Angel and Misaki be mad if you got hitched without telling them?

“You’re very immersed in your work.”

“Valentin!” You swivel to face him, who had been standing behind you and leap into his arms. “I didn’t hear you come in, baby.”

Valentin, of course, caught you in his arms. You bury your face into the side of his neck as he adjusted your legs to wrap around his waist. “Hello, I missed you”

“I missed you too,” Valentin’s deep bass made his body rumble in a pleasant way. It was like having your own personal massage chair. “Being separated from you feels like being cast into a desert. I dislike it.”

Valentin was still running his animal shelter front that was an hour drive away from where your house was. It made you feel bad that he was stuck in a two hour daily commute to both keep up the facade and romance you, but the solution would be for the other person to uproot themselves and relocate but you didn’t want to give him an ultimatum or invite yourself into his space. You’ve also only been going out for four months.

“How’s the writing?”

“Do you want to put me down first?”

“Are you uncomfortable?” Valentin’s eyebrows immediately crease as he unconsciously ran his hand up and down your thighs. He sounded so concerned that you couldn’t help but give in the urge to tease him.

“Don’t think I’ve been this comfortable since I was inside my mother’s womb,” You hum as you press your face into his neck and inhale his scent. He stank of sweat and animal fur which made you want to pull away but you were too settled to want to move. “All safe and sound wrapped in your arms.”

“Devolving into nonsense again,”  Valentin moved the two of you closer to your bed but you protested when he moved away after putting you on the bed.

“Wait , don’t go,” you even pout and make grabby hands which earned you a deadpan look.

“I need to wash off the day’s stresses before I can join you,”  Valentin callously strolled into the bathroom. You huffed, comfortable enough in your extremely soft pillow and comforter that you loathed to move. You still had some articles to review, but now that V was home you weren’t interested in getting up again. It was more than a little silly how giddy you were about the whole relationship but you’re also determined to milk the honeymoon phase to its full extent before V got tired of how clingy you were and started to deny your clingy octopus time.

V comes out of the bathroom, making his way over to the vanity. “Do you want me to do your hair?” You offer from the bed. He throws your phone at you while shaking his head no. “I’ll be quick. Have you had dinner?”

“Not hungry. I made a massive pot of chicken pasta earlier if you want some.”

You pick up your phone, opening and closing your socials watching V out of the corner of your eye. He looks up and you make eye contact in the mirror.

“Would you like to do some field research today?”

And that’s why you love him.

V has always understood your one true passion.

Not the thrill nor the control nor the fleeting satisfaction of justice.

You just want to learn.
