Chapter Text

"Hey Takanon!"

"What?" Takanon looked up from his doujishin at Shinkou who was holding a bag.

"Me and Yamada kun will be going away for a few days to retrieve some souls on an island down south."

"That far? Aren't there other kings to go there or are you and Sou kun the only ones running around?"

"Well yes there are, but we have connections there. Plus we haven't met them in like what a year?" Yamada picked up another bag.

"You guys have friends?" Takanon was surprised that the two knew people other than him in the human world.

"Not a friend, family." Shinkou said matter of factly.

"I thought King Enma and Sou kun were your family?"

"They are, but the one we'll be meeting is Shin chan's son." Yamada counted some money and put it in his pocket.

"YOU HAVE A SON!?" Takanon grabbed Shinkou by the collar and shook him, even this manchild got laid before him!

"S-stop shaking me! Why is it such a surprise!? I'm old as hell!"

"It's the fact that you had a whole wife and child and didn't tell me!"

"N-no it's not that! We may have been lovers atone point but me and him never got married!"

"BUT YOU- wait 'him'?" Takanon stopped shaking Shinkou.

"He was what humans would call a transman. And for your information Shin chan was a single father since that son of a pig abandoned them. Some 'God' he was." Yamada looked like he wanted to kill someone, Takanon hoped it wasn't him.

"Yamada kun you didn't have to tell the abandoned part."

"Shut it! Don't try and defend or cover up the actions of the one who left you without any hesitation! With a child no less!"

"I'm not-"

"God?....You had a child with a God!?"Takanon had just finished processing all that information.

"You should be used to such things, obviously gods exist. So do yokai." Shinkou handed Yamada a bottle of water to drink and calm down.

"Yokai?"

"The island we're going to are full of them. It called Hayakki Academy island. It's named after the school started by Ran chan's situationship."

"Who's situationship? Also do you know what that word means?"

"I do know what it means, Ran chan is Shin chan's son. His current full name is Karasuma Ranmaru."

"Current?"

"He changes it every once in a while. Now we better get going."

"I'm coming with you!"

"Why? " Shinkou looked puzzled, usually Takanon wants nothing to do with such things.

"I'm a little curious about this son of yours." Takanon stuffs some clothes and cash into his own bag.

"Let him Shin chan, it'll be easier to find the souls for us as well.

"If you two insist."

"10 hours..... It took us 10 bloody fucking hours to get here!" Takanon sat on the port bench, he felt super tired due to the journey.

"Should I call someone to pick us up?" Shinkou pulled out a phone from his pocket.

"You know what? I don't even care enough to know since when you had a phone."

"I think it's for the best to call someone, it'll be dark soon and I'd rather not be lost with this guy." Yamada pointed at Takanon.

"You're right, Ranchan did say there was a gang of doppelgangers on the lose kidnapping people." Shin called someone.

"Do-doppelgangers!?" Takanon had mostly forgotten this island was full of supernatural beings.

"Don't worry, you won't die if you meet them, that parts just fiction." Yamada said.

"Excuse me?" A voice asked, the trio turned to look at the owner of the voice and saw a person made of bandages wearing a police uniform.

"Yes? Is something the matter officer?"

"Nothing serious, you three don't seem to be from around here. So just wanted to know if you need any help."

"How kind of you, we need to get to Hayakki Academy. We were going to ask someone to pick us up though."

"Didn't think you had any manners Yamada kun." Takanon snorted.

"Shut up Takanon."

"And you wonder where Ranchan learned his foul mouthed habits." Shinkou rolled his eyes.

"Ranchan?" The officer may not have had a face but his look of confusion and slight recognition was clear.

"Ranchan is my son. His full name is Karasuma Ranmaru." Shinkou said happily.

"Sensei has a father!?" The officer gasped.

"Sensei?.... Are you by any chance Yamazaki Makoto?" Yamada asked.

"That I am, sorry for my outburst." The officer hid his blushing face.

"Did you think he popped out of thin air?" Takanon wondered what that reaction was for, obviously everyone has parents.

"Are you by chance human?" Yamazaki turned to Takanon.

"Yes?"

"That explains it, to put it simply it's not uncommon for yokai to be born out of thin air. That's how majority of doppelgangers like myself are born. Sensei never really talked about his family much so we just assumed he did too."

"It's quite alright, I'll be calling him to pick us up so you guys can have a little reunion."

"I unfortunately meet him nearly 3 times a month."

Shinkou put his phone down "Do you mind elaborating dear?"

Takanon looked over at Yamada who was stiff as a board, Shinkou was definitely mad.

"He usually gets arrested for minor petty crimes like shoplifting and such, on some occasions crimes like breaking and entering."

"What about two people name Karasuma Bonmaru and Karasuma Tenmaru?"

"Yes, though they usually only take part in the more major crimes, like stealing from a police officer and kidnapping."

"Thank you for informing me, I'll be having a long chat with him."

"Okay? I'll see you later." With that Yamazaki walked away hesitantly.

Shinkou called someone "Hi Ranchan! We're at a the port, do you three mind picking us up? We're at dock 3. See you soon." Shinkou cut the call and opened his ledger.

"Ten years, those little shits better get their act together or I might actually have to beat it into them."

"As strict as ever Shinchan."

"All because you keep spoiling those three."

"I thought you only had one son?" Takanon wondered what they looked like.

"One biological, the other two got adopted much later on since they were adults when I met them."

"Oh."

Soon three figures were seen in the sky and landed in front of them.

"We're here- ow!"

"Damn it!"

"What the hell!?"

In the blink of an eye all three of them were doubled over in pain and Shinkou had a sizzling fist.

"My dear sons, what the hell are you three doing with your lives?"

"Living?" The one who looked almost like a spitting image of Shinkou but with black hair said, that must be the biological one. karasuma Ranmaru.

"In what way? Doing crimes?"

"Only petty stuff!" The one with shoulder length brown hair and glasses said.

"Kidnapping is definitely not a petty crime! You three better get your shit together, find proper legal jobs and serve your time or else none of you will get entry into the underworld for 10 years!"

"Ten years!?" The third one shocked Takanon the most, he was a spitting image of Soutei! Did Soutei have a kid too?

"I'm being lenient, do you three want to face your punishment in hell for those ten years?"

"Sorry dad, we understand." All three said in unison.

"Anyways now get up and meet Takanon."

The three stood up and dusted themselves off.

"Hello nice to meet you! We're Shinkou's sons! I'm Karasuma Ranmaru but you can call me Ranchan!" Ranmaru said.

"Nice to meet you as well."

"Thanks for letting dad and uncle Yamada live with you. I'm Karasuma Bonmaru, just call me anything you like." The one with brown hair, Bonmaru said.

"I would like to be nice and say no problem but lying wouldn't be a good thing." Takanon said.

Yamada elbowed the taller man.

"Uncle we saw that, there's something known as freedom of speech. I'm Karasuma Tenmaru by the way." The Soutei copy said.

"Now that introductions are done let's go. The souls that escaped to here are pretty tricky according to Enma." Shinkou sighed, he was hoping to find the souls as fast as possible.

"Let's hope for their own safety they don't meet Akira kun." Ranmaru laughed, Takanon didn't like that.

With that the group headed to the bus stop.

With that the group headed to the bus stop.

Soon the bus arrived.

"Can't you three fly?" The bus driver questioned.

"Well yeah, but these three can't." Bonmaru motioned towards the three non-tengu.

"Whatever." The bus began moving once all of them sat down.

"So how about you tell us something about yourself Takanon kun?" Ranmaru smiled.

"Firstly that's just a nickname your dad came up with, my full name is Onomaru Takano."

"Got any interests?" Bonmaru was next.

"I like manga and collecting the character figures. Nothing special."

"Which type?" There was a glint in Tenmaru's eyes that Takanon recognized as that of a fellow Otaku.

And so he gave a few names, with every manga title the glint grew brighter.

"Dad." Tenmaru turned to Shinkou who looked surprised, likely not expecting to be addressed.

"Yeah?"

"Why did you never tell me about Onomaru kun? Actually, uncle Yamada why did you not tell me about him? We have basically the same interests!"

"We.....forgot?" Yamada just smiled awkwardly.

"I call bullshit." Bonmaru spoke up.

"Ditto." Ranmaru said.

"Well you've met him now right?" Shinkou intervened.

"True."

"Um, can I ask something?" Takanon felt a little awkward asking it but he needed to know.

"Yeah?"

"Are you related to Sou kun somehow Tenmaru kun?"

"Nha, we look alike because the mangaka got a little lazy."

"Tenchan just how many times are you going to break the fourth wall in fanfictions? This is like the 3rd time!" Ranmaru complained.

"Not my fault I'm the author's favorite. Also the second time was related to me not by me, needed to avoid spoilers for the non manga readers."

"Both of you please leave the fourth wall alone. Kim Dokja would be very upset."

"That's a completely different franchise Shin chan. Not even from the same country." Yamada said.

"Author san please just get back to the story." Bonmaru looked tired.

(...... Fine)

After a short while they reached a stop near a hill? It was more like a mountain honestly.

"This is it! Aachan's got your room ready." Ranmaru got down.

"Are you sure he won't mind an extra person?" Shin followed.

"Don't break anything and you'll be fine." Bonmaru helped get the luggage.

They went to a smaller building that was next to a huge one. Takanon guessed the large building was the Academy.

The bell was rung and a tired man with bright purple hair opened the door.

"Good to see you Ashiya kun!" Shin waved.

"You as well king Shinkou, who might this guy be?"

"Consider him a friend. He also attracts the souls of sinners" Shin patted Takanon's shoulder.

"We're crashing at his place." Yamada said from the back.

"Both statements unfortunately coexist."

"Another trouble magnet......" The purplenette rolled his eyes.

"I'll send the cheque for any damage." Shin said deadpan.

"You better. Now come inside it's getting late."

"Please be a little nice Aachan."

"You'd not be saying that once you see the bill I got this week for damage repairs."

"At least don't take it out on us...." Ranmaru sighed.

"I don't hear about any rent cheques...."

"We'll settle the bill later." Yamada patted Takanon's back.

Takanon just grumbled.

"So how many souls are here." The man who Takanon found out was Ashiya Douman said.

"Anywhere from 3 to 4." Yamada bit an apple.

"Couldn't you bring Soutei san to help as well?"

"Tried, he cursed at me and said that he doesn't want to be stuck babysitting." Shinkou pouted "I haven't asked him to babysit Suz- Ranchan in centuries."

"I don't think it was him that uncle Soutei was referring to dad." Tenmaru said, Takanon had to hold back a laugh.

"No one else was willing?" Bonmaru asked.

"Only 3 of us were sent out remember?" Yamada answered.

"Aren't there 10?" Takanon thought everyone other that Enma was soul hunting.

"Well compared to number of escapees the number of people who die everyday is 10 times if not 100 times more so majority had to stay back to cover for the one's who left." Shinkou explains.

"So it's Soutei, you and?"

"King no. 2 Shoko kun." Shin smiled.

"Where is uncle Shoko?" Ranmaru opened a beer and handed it to Takanon.

"Hokkaido."

"I don't drink but thank you." Takanon kept the can down.

"More for me then, can't let a good beer go to waste." Ranmaru happily picked up the can.

"You bird brain.... How many times have I told you not to steal shit from my fridge!" Ashiya snatched the can from the man.

"Boo Aachan you're no fun."

"Go cry a river about it and drown yourself."

"Don't worry about them, this is how they flirt." Tenmaru wishpered.

"Get used to it." Bonmaru leaned in as well.

Shin just rolled his eyes and opend his ledger.

"One's a thief, one a drug addict plus dealer and last is....."

"Who's the last one?" Bonmaru handed his dad a handkerchief since he spilled his water cup after reading the third name in his head.

"It's Minamoto no Yuritomo....."

The three tengus went stiff hearing the name.

"I thought he'd already reincarnated?" Yamada leaned forward.

"Apparently not, he's been hiding in various areas of the underworld 500 years after serving his time." Shin read aloud.

"Why would a guy willing stay in hell after his punishment has ended?" Takanon certainly wouldn't stick around.
