Chapter Text
Clarke’s P.O.V
The cold, crisp wind bit at Clarke’s finger tips as she lifted them to her mouth, inhaling her cigarette. She looked up at the unfamiliar building towering over her
“here goes nothing” she thought to herself, releasing the smoke from her lungs. she bit down gently on her lip. It was the first day of the semester, Clarke’s first day at college. She had stayed in her hometown, not wanting to leave her boyfriend, Finn, behind, or her best friends Raven and Octavia, she had opted to go to the same college as all of them, she didn’t like change and never had, Clarke wasn’t one to stray too far from her idea of ordinary.
She wandered without haste, following the room numbers and signs until she found her classroom.
The introduction lesson started off bleak, her lecturer rambled on about the syllabus and which books they ought to have bought by now, Clarke had got talking to the girl next to her to pass the time.
“Ugh, this guy is like a fossil right?” The girl next to Clarke muttered, offering her a friendly smirk.
“Honestly, I think he needs a hearing aid I’m getting ear ache just from listening to him” Clarke replied, offering a smile
“I’m Anya by the way” the other girl grinned back “You from around here?”
“I’m Clarke, yeah I grew up around here, what about you?” she asked, eyes nervously darting to the old teacher, not wanting to get singled out on the first day, that would be embarrassing as hell.
“I’m from California, me and my best friend moved up here together” Anya stated “She’s meant to be in this class today but I guess she over slept” she mused, more to herself than Clarke.
The lesson dragged by, Anya and Clarke chatted away, Clarke liked Anya, she was confident yet she didn’t feel threatened by her. Clarke had offered to show her around the city properly the following week, they exchanged numbers at the end of class.

“Hey honeys I’m home” Clarke yelled once she entered the flat, dropping her keys on the table by the door and throwing her jacket on a hook on the back of the door. Raven and Octavia were lay on the couch watching Keeping up with the Kardashians, Raven resting her head on Octavia’s lap. “Finally!” Octavia exclaimed “I’ve been trying to ring you, where’ve you been!” pointing her finger at Clarke, she couldn’t help but smirk at her friend “Sorry I forgot we were married, It was my first day of class today, what did you want?” Clarke calls from behind the fridge, grabbing a can of coke she popped her head out from behind the fridge door raising her eyebrows at Octavia as she’s trying to push the now sleeping Raven off of her lap.
“Jasper and the boys are having a party at theirs tonight, and we are going Clarke, I won’t accept any answer other than yes” she winked as she stole a swig out of Clarke’s can.
“Oh well that leaves me with no other option then!” she laughed “Are Finn and Lincoln coming?”
Lincoln is Octavia’s boyfriend, they’ve been together since they were all freshman in high school, but you wouldn't think it the way they’re constantly all over each other.
“Finn said he has to work late tonight but he’ll drop by later don’t worry princess, Lincoln is on his way over here too” she smiled, making her way back to the kitchen counter “You get ready I’ll make the cocktails” she called over her shoulder.
It’s not that Clarke didn’t like parties, she had jus become bored of it all, getting drunk, Finn slurring down her ear, Octavia and Lincoln sneaking off, Raven fighting over beer pong, the repetitiveness begun to grate on her.
Nevertheless, she’d dug out a cute black dress which hugged her figure in all the right ways, washed and dried her hair into perfect waves and was in the process of finishing her smokey eyeshadow.
“If you weren’t practically my sister, I’d be trying to hit on you right now” Raven grinned from the door way, almost making Clarke smudge her makeup “Fuck off dipshit” She laughed, launching a makeup brush in Raven’s direction, but she’d retreated to the kitchen.
Clarke grabbed a red cup that Octavia had left out for her, she made her way over to Lincoln, Raven and Octavia sipping the drink as she did.
“Jesus christ O what is this shit?” Clarke spluttered
“Calm down grandma, where is party girl Griffin gone?” Octavia exclaimed “Get it down you Clarke don’t make me tell you again!”
Clarke sucked it up and drank the awful concoction of spirits and cheap soda, they chatted away, listened to music and when it was finally time to go, Clarke was feeling a buzz of excitement. She’d not been to one of their groups parties in a while, now she think’s about it she doesn’t really know why she’s been avoiding them.
—————————————————
Upon their arrival, they are greeted by tight hugs and kisses, and in Clarke’s case, people cheering her name.
“I wasn’t expecting you to come princess!” Monty yelled down her ear as he gripped her into a hug, he was definitely drunk because of the volume of his voice
“I missed you!” he continued, hurting Clarke’s already sore ears. She greeted a few more people, exchanging pleasantries and catching up with a few friends from high school, she was getting passed cup after cup, and lost in the moment of it all she just kept knocking one back after the other.
The party filled out the later it got, there seemed to be a constant stream of people filing through the door, constant movement, constant chatter, noise.
Clarke sat down for a moment to recollect herself, the intoxication had crept up on her. Reaching for her phone, a message flashed across the screen
Finn: Hey babe, I’m sorry working till late tonight, enjoy the party ring you tomorrow, love you xxx
Sighing, Clarke shoved her phone back in her purse. Her and Finn had been together for three years now, and lately their relationship had felt a strain, Finn was working late, all the time Clarke had moved to the other side of town with Raven and Octavia, Clarke had got into college, Finn hadn’t..
A familiar face pulled her out of her trail of thoughts, she spotted Anya poking her head around the door then entering the room, just as she was bout to call her over, Clarke noticed the girl accompanying her and stopped dead in her tracks..

Lexa’s P.O.V
Lexa didn't know what she was doing here, she didn’t know anyone other than Anya, who was chatting away to some random guy with floppy black hair, sighing, “better find something to keep myself busy” she thought, as the keg in the corner caught her attention, she made her way over.
Lexa was never keen on parties, she had no issue with them and of course went to them, but she much more preferred the comforts of her home, in smaller company, she preferred being able to hear what people were trying to say to her. As the party crept further into the night, Lexa was becoming more and more relaxed, she felt drunk but it was more of a cheerful buzz.
She was mid way through a game of beer pong when she felt a tap on her shoulder, when she turned around her breath caught in her throat. This girl was stunning, a slight tan to her skin, she had a beauty mark above her lip that was the most adorable thing she’d ever seen
“Hey, sorry for interrupting you.. I just.. My friend was wondering if she could play you next?” She slurred, her lips curled into a half smile as she looked intently into Lexa’s eyes.
“At beer pong?” The blonde girl pushed slightly, “Oh God, Say something!” Lexa thought as she tried to find the words she had momentarily lost
“Uhh. Yeah… Yeah of course she can, sorry” She mumbled, remaining eye contact.
“Move aside peasant, Beer pong world champion coming through” A slightly shorter, brunette girl pushed her way passed the blonde “I’m Raven, and I’ll be the one kicking your ass at beer pong tonight” the girl grinned cheekily, offering her hand out to Lexa
