Chapter 1: Onda and Archer

Chapter Text

It was a peaceful day in the month of Dawn when a beautiful baby boy was born. He had curly blonde hair with hazel eyes. As he grew he had freckles dusting his body top to bottom. He was a bright young spirit as he learned to climb trees, swim, paint, and archery. His name was Archer. Archer was the life of the party, the way his smile lit up a room and could make even the angriest person smile was his key signature. He helped his father with the farm, he helped his mother with her tapestry, and he helped the neighbor, who was an old man who loved the boy like his own son, with his chores around the house. Every one knew Archer's name and everyone spoke well of the young boy with olive skin with angel kisses, hair kissed by the sun, and eyes like the earth.

Onda on the other hand was born millions of years earlier and had dark chocolate skin, dark hair like a bear, and eyes like gold. Onda was the god of the sea. Though he never really had a childhood with how fast it seemed he grew, he was still playful and uncontrollable. He had temples built high in his name, offerings from young kids and teenagers wanting freedom from their homes, men and women praying for protection. He loved his sea animals, each of them crafted by hand with love and consideration.

One fateful day, Onda felt something new was placed at his alter. He drifted out of the sea and disguised himself as an old farmer. He walked to his temple and saw a young boy sitting there. His hair blonde, his skin tan, and freckles everywhere. Onda drifted closer to the young boy as he saw what he left, a small loaf of bread. He looked at the boy, he was around 4-5.

"What are you doing young one? Why offer a piece of bread to the god?" He asked the child, curious as to why the child put a loaf of bread on the golden alter.

"I though he may be hungry, after all, all he gets is jewelry and gold." The child whispered with an honest glint in his eyes. "Whats your name boy?" Onda questioned. "Archer" The child murmured in reply, his hazel eyes fixed on the statue in the temple, respect and astonishment one his face. Onda was touched by the young boys actions and saw an opportunity to watch over someone he actually cares for.

As the days passed on, Onda watched over the boy in almost an obsessive manner. He wouldn't take his eyes off the boy, fearing that if he did then something terrible would happen. Archer had no clue of the god watching his every move. He just knew that every time he got a scratch or bruise a kind old man would always appear and bandage him. Archer became more reckless with age, he broke and arm and Onda never forgave himself for allowing that to happen. One day, Archer saw a young girl that made his heart flutter, his stomach flip and his cheeks heat up. Every time he was around her he found himself unable to speak. He didn't know what his feeling was and it scared him. But being the brave kid he was, he plucked a bouquet of flowers for  the girl and decided to give it to her when he saw her in the market the next day.

He walked up to her with the bouquet behind his back, his cheeks heating up and his mouth unable to work properly. When she turned to say hi, he pushed the flowers towards her and into her arms before running off with his face in his hands with embarrassment. When he got home he curled up on his bed worrying if she liked the flowers but that's when he heard a knock at the front door. His father called him down a few seconds alter and he rushed to get down. When he saw the girl at the door his heart skipped a beat. But the girl seemed to not care for the flowers and rejected him. He didn't leave his room for hours on end, curled up crying because the girl he liked the most was the one that hurt him the most.

Onda saw all this and became very angry with the girl but didn't do anything because he can't change who people love and who they don't. Sooner or later Archer started to feel better though and he was happier but still not the same. When Archer was around 17 Onda decided to reveal himself to him. The way he did it was magical. He was still disguised as the old farmer and led Archer to the sea. Archer was swimming and laughing, telling him to get in the water but Onda kept refusing. Soon Archer manged to convince him to get in and the second he did, the water seemed the glow so bright that Archer had to cover his eyes. When he opened them again he saw Onda for what he was, dark hair, skin like dark chocolate, golden eyes. Archer almost fell in love that moment but refused to let himself.

Over the next few years, Onda got less stalker like and let Archer have more freedom. They went on little dates to the beach side, made flower crowns in the forest, watched the stars, baked, and Archer even learned what Onda did with his free time under water. Sooner, Onda made a small engagement ring for Archer out of sea crystals. He gave it to Archer on a date to see the stars and Archer was so happy he broke down in tears. But they didnt know that all of this happiness would come crashing down.

Onda was doing god-stuff in his sea castle when Archer was called to see the king. He came to the King and saw the devastated look on prince Authur's face and immediately grew tense. The king finally spoke.

"Archer, i hear that you and the sea god Onda have a...Special... relationship. Whatever, i need you to do me a little favor. If you dont comply i will have your family whipped, beheaded, dismembered, or anything i can really thing of. I need you to get you little boyfriends gold and silver and cut off his tail so he cant follow." The king said coldly, not an ounce of emotion on his face.

Archer trembled. "But sir! What if i am unsuccessful and die in the process!" Archer  begged, trying to find a way out of this mess.

"Then i send another out to win his heart and get what i want." The king mocked.

Archer had no choice to do as the king asked. He reluctantly went to Onda in his underwater castle using a magic bracelet that Onda gave him to breath underwater. He asked Onda if they could sleep in his castle and in his bed, and of course Onda said yes. That night, while Onda was sleeping, Archer crept to the treasure room with the bag that the king gave him. He stuffed the bag full, his heart heavy and full of regret and fear. Tears silently fell from his eyes as he crept back into the bedroom with his dagger. His eyes red and puffy as he brought the dagger down to cut Onda's tail off. He failed and Onda woke up in a rage.

"Who dares to take my tail!" He yelled, his voice booming through the room. Archer rushed back out to his ship with his crew, his bracelet falling off in the process. It started storming and the waves sounded like yells of pain and rage. Archer ordered his crew to get out of there but it was too late. Onda had turned into his full god from, his hair waves, eyes glowing red, his teeth sharp. When he sees it was Archer, his eyes fill with horror, betrayal, tears, and rage. "What have you done, i knew mortals couldn't be trusted and yet i let you in my home. You will all die for this is you captain refuses to jump in." Archer looks around at his crew, one of them a 15 year old boy. Without thinking, Archer jumps in and the second his head is pulled under water Onda grabs him and takes him to the bottom of the reef. Onda in all of his rage takes Archers body and slams it against the sharpest part of the reef. Archer could feel his bones cracking, breaking, and twisting in ways they shouldn't as his hands grabbed Onda's golden wrist cuffs trying to get him to calm down and stop. His breath ran out and he could feel water gushing into his lungs as his body gasped for air. He could feel the burn of water in his lungs, it felt like fire was consuming him. That's when it happened, his rip broke and punctured his lung yet Onda kept going, his eyes burning from tears. Soon, there was a loud crack and Archers spine snaps in half as Onda realizes what he had done. He lets go of Archer as he swims away fast. Blood floated thought the water like smoke does in air, Archer mouthed his last words as tears fall from his eyes and blood seeps from the deep gashes and breaks in his body.

"I do..." He mouths the same words he wished he could say on that day when him and Onda were going to get married, it was going to be the happiest day of his life but the king had to ruin it. Onda, unable to face the effects of what he did, never returned to that spot where he left Archers body till a few days later. Thats when he sees the effects of what he has done, Archers body being eaten slowly and covered with seaweed. Onda takes Archer's lifeless body in his arms and takes him to get cremated. He puts the ashes in an urn and puts the urn in his under water garden he made for Archer when he first revealed himself (dont ask me how cuz idk). He places the Urn in the same spot where Archer loved to sit, he put all of Archers favorite plants in the garden. Soon the garden was full of bubble coral, ghost orchids, hyacinths, fox gloves, and stingrays (again, no clue how dont question it plz :>). Every day he sits by that urn and talks as f Archer is right there with him, the first time he did it he felt something on his head but when he reached up to touch whatever it was, there was nothing there. This kept happening every time her went out to talk to the urn. Little did he know that Archer was right there, making flower crowns and placeing them on his head as he listens to Onda talk, sometimes he responds but he knows that he will never hug Onda again, for Onda is a god and he is a mortal. What else can he do?
