Chapter Text

a/n: Greetings everyone! For those who have been frequenting my blog have either asked or seen if I would write about the Norse gods and their demigods from Rick Riordan’s “Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard” series, and well, here it is finally! This has been in the works for a while now and I’ve been slowly working on it since I’ve asked a poll about it.

I did my best to re-read the entire Magnus Chase series and tried to draw back some canon stuff from the books, and I’ve also put some stuff from my own research on the Norse Gods. I’m going to preface that because of the whole lack of proper, recorded mythology of the Norse Gods, and barely abling to decipher and understand the Prose Edda and Poetic Edda, I’ve had to come up with my own interpretations as well as comparing common/consistent Norse god information that I could get my hands on.

The gods and subsequently their demigods were chosen based on canon demigods that exist in the books, and what felt comfortable with the accumulated knowledge to see if they could be written properly. So if there are any gods or goddesses you wished to see on this list, my apologies if they weren’t there . The list of gods are not chosen in particular order or reasoning other than what whatever came to mind first.

Hope you enjoy reading my works and have a nice day!

Chapter 2: 🔮ODIN 👑

Notes:

Alright, first Norse demigods and what better way to start with then the Allfather himself! I tried my best with him and hopefully the format with this one will be good and stays consistent for the rest of the Norse demigod hcs. Hope you enjoy it and thank you for reading! If there are any tags I should include, please tell me!

Chapter Text

🔮ODIN “THIRD CHIEF OF THE AESIR, GOD OF WISDOM, MAGIC, DEATH, DIVINATION, WAR, AND POETRY; THE ALL FATHER, OATHBREAKER ” 👑

  • Being the demigod of Odin is both the most awesome thing but also the worst thing. You have a lot to live up to and when people find out you’re the child of Odin, they expect you to live up to being his kid. Especially since he’s been more or less been AWOL for a while so any appearance of his kids are expected to represent him symbolically.

  • They expect you to be wise, powerful, and strong just like Odin, again adding to the whole bit of “representing him symbolically” bit but try as you might, you’re still half-god of Odin and your experiences are only measurable so there will be times you always feel (made) short.

  • Waiting in Valhalla for Ragnarok leaves plenty of time for you to spend, alongside all the battle combat training to keep yourself sharp. If you have the desiring burn to pursue knowledge, congrats! That is a trait from Odin, who is a seeker of knowledge; though you’re probably not going to be hanging yourself from the World Tree for 9 Days and Nights to discover the secret of the Runes.

However, if you have the equivalent experience of Odin standing in a blizzard for 6 days to learn how to use a smartphone, then that’s pretty much it.

Your pursuit and seeking of knowledge feeds you insistently and good thing you’re half-god because once you’re interested in learning something, you’re going to be spending literal consecutive days to learn as much as you can.

Though that’s probably not unheard of for neurodivergent individuals.

  • As Odin’s child, there is a higher chance of you being able to learn and use Magic, as Odin is the God of Magic. This is greatly helped by the use of Runes, however, despite Odin’s greatest achievement of discovery of the Runes, that part isn’t passed onto you so you must learn how to use the power of the Runes in your pursuit of Magic.

  • The Rune for Odin, Ansuz  ᚨ  is either one of the first Runes you learn about or feel drawn to as it calls out to you. It might’ve been a hit or miss a few times as Ansuz means God as it refers to Odin’s breath; as a gift to humanity for live and being able to understand one another.

As your rune, especially as a child of Odin, it symbolizes and helps you communicate and you have good speaking skills, as it is the rune of communication and of spoken word as you carefully piece together what you say before you speak it out loud. This is also supported further that Odin is a god of poetry, being able to not only speak beautifully and persuasively, but also write it in such a manner too.

  • The Runes are also useful and are powerful enough in your hands, that you can use divination through it. If you also inherited the power of prophecy and foresight like Odin, you can become a Vala - a seer- to see the future with runes, alongside cast spells if you have magical talent.

  • You might have a higher chance or likely know a second language at minimum. Paired with Odin’s connection with communication and seeker of knowledge, learning another language comes more easily to you; though still filled with challenges as you learn to understand the words and sounds behind the language, as well as how it is written, and the culture and history behind it all.

  • Though there is also a chance you could just see past, present, and future but that power is probably rare for how powerful it is and you might not be able to access other talents as easily; whether it's because you’re spending your time to refining and understanding this power, or because this is a very great and powerful gift.

  • You have the penchant for being sneaky and being basically a trickster, you’re either fueled because you know something people don’t and like to use it to your advantage, or for the sheer fun of it all.

  • Considering Alex Ferro is able to shiftshape because of their godly parent Loki, and Odin is able to shapeshift himself (which he uses to his full advantage), I can imagine that this is also a trait possible to children of Odin. There is however a difference as Odin’s shapeshifting has always leaned itself to disguising himself as different people.

So if you do inherit the power of shapeshifting, it's only limited to people. Maybe you can shapeshift yourself into someone else but it comes with much more difficulty, maybe requiring deep knowledge about that face you’re donning, or maybe because that seems more to fall onto Loki’s aspect than Odin who shapeshifts to mask himself then trick others.

  • As a god of War, being able to wield weapons comes almost like instinct to you. Although you may have a preferred weapon that is true to your soul, you have the talent in using what you have to fight and you are able to understand its potential to properly fight and protect. If you find yourself being drawn to the spear, you’re definitely Odin’s kid but he would approve any weapon you choose. Just if you use a spear, don’t stab yourself in the side with it.

  • Have you ever fed a murder of crows before and a few times? That’s a part of being Odin’s kid. You have a love for Corvids, but particularly Ravens and they are particularly drawn to you. While it is best to have a Raven much like Father Odin, other corvids are also drawn to you like Crows as a second, followed by bluejays or magpies.

Others included rooks, jawdaws, other kinds of kays, treepies, choughs, and nutcrackers.  You may be very successful in training and befriending the corvids who drop by for snackies and return with shinies.

  • The song “Passerine” by The Oh Hellos, seems fitting given the connection with the Ravens.

  • You have definitely used or have no problem using Bluetooth functions because of Odin’s connection with the Runes and the logo for Bluetooth is based on the Norse Runes “Hagall” and “Bjarkan” ᛒ.

Funny enough, you manage to make a rune with the Bluetooth logo and it works like a Bluetooth hotspot. Now how will you use it further? Who knows! Maybe you can figure it out, I’m not the one who is Odin’s kid.

Though if you figure that out, be prepared for some spending time with Odin because he’ll want to know all the mysteries and sorcery behind it and that’ll last for days; much like trying to teach an adult who isn’t as adept at technology.

  • If Corvids aren’t your biggest thing, then surely it’s the wolves, and by extension dogs, and further down Canines. You’re definitely a dog lover and you can’t help patting every dog you meet and give them all the love and pets for being the best doggos in the world.

If you had a wolf phase at some point in your life, or still are, congrats, Odin would be very proud that you appreciate these wonderful doggos. You definitely carry around dog and bone treats for these canines as a result.

(And going back to corvids, the dog treats are also very good for them too so double bonus!)

Odin can be considered a Death God and considering the Einherjar are under Odin’s eternal army, which are composed of those who have died with bravery during a challenge or fight where they’ve saved others,  it's sufficient to say necromancy may appear as one of your abilities.

While you cannot command an army of ghosts immediately to your will, or revive the dead (both also include the Einherjar), you probably can see ghosts and communicate with them better than most. If you’re part of the living, this ability also extends to being able to pick out Einherjar that are walking around in the Nine Realms, particularly with their golden aura.

Chapter 3: ⚡THOR🔨

Notes:

Next up is Point Break! I probably channeled a bit of myself when I was into Thor as a teenager to write this. I liked Thor in the books but there's a bit of myself that also still loves Thor in the MCU. Well, don't need to fret everyone, much like the books, I didn't put anything of the MCU Thor into this so it's basically book Thor and my interpretation of Thor from the Norse research I did 👍

With that, hope you all enjoy and thanks for reading!

Chapter Text

⚡THOR “GOD OF THUNDER, LIGHTNING, STORMS, CONSECRATION, STRENGTH AND BRAVERY, FERTILITY, SACRED GROVES AND TREES, THE PROTECTION OF MANKIND” 🔨

  • The man, the myth, the legend! Congrats, you’re the child of the great and almighty Thor! Much like being a child of Odin, being a child of Thor has its own social pressure and expectations on you for how important, powerful, and popular he is. As awesome it is to be his kid, there’s a lot riding on you from the get-go.

  •  All children of Thor all share the same attributes and temperament of their father: being temperamental, being brave and courageous, and prideful to say the least. These traits are not strictly good or bad as your temperamental nature allows you to balance these traits according to your logic and situation, bravery and courage: to face things and challenges even if you’re afraid, and pride: to have a sense of self-respect, dignity, or in value.

They all exist within you, some more and some less, have confidence in yourself and walk forward.

  • Being a child of Thor tends to lean towards more physical acts, including how you fight. You tend to move first before thinking second; though it's not necessarily that you don’t think either when you move. Your body instinctively will move first based on your instincts and will, and your mind is catching a close second as they move in tandem.

  • If you have the burning need to help others or tendency to help people, you’re reflecting Thor with being a protector of Mankind, especially with needing to act with your body, you often can be seen lending a hand to others.

  • On the other hand, you are also someone who doesn’t quit or sway easily much like Thor. Once you’re involved, you’re ride or die (well the latter may work better if you’re an Einherjar and within Vahlalla- you get the point). This makes you a reliable person to count on when things are tough, but on the other hand, this can make it a liability to yourself and others if you get into deep trouble and when things become dangerous.

  • Regardless there is an innate strength to a child of Thor, whether it's physical, mentally, or spiritually.

  • Your rune is the Thurisaz that represents Thor. It is reconstructed as ‘thorn’ and means ‘giant’, and symbolizes masculinity, courage, and empowerment; as well as protection, strength, and power to confront and overcome challenges. It is a powerful rune to use and acts as a physical symbol for followers of Thor that are etched into jewelry. It is also your mark as a child of Thor.

When used in divination, or carrying it as a good luck charm, it serves as a warning to the people involved, allowing it to warn you of danger lurking nearby or intense change is upon them. As well being used as a general talisman to enhance protection and strength.

If you are capable of using a bit of Rune Magic, the Thurisaz rune is useful to be used as an emergency bomb as it releases a discharge of destructive power.

  • The Thurisaz rune that is etched onto your weapon is also useful as a child of power, you can resonate with it and use it together in battle to add to that destructive power. However, if you already have immense strength, especially when you’re already training, the rune may not be entirely needed.

  • If you’re really capable of using Rune magic, the Thurisaz rune can be used alternatively to create thorns as it also means ‘Thorn’’; whether to create a wall of thorns to block any enemies or used defensively- like the thorn that defends the plant, or to be used in an offensive way, it all depends how well you use it.

Adding to the fact Thor is a fertility god, and of sacred groves and trees, the ability to manipulate Thorns adds to this- so it is within your realm as a demigod of Thor.

  • Contrary to belief, I don’t think you will have the innate ability to control thunder and lightning, despite Thor being the god of lightning and thunder. It is probably a skill that can be inherited by his children, but it’s not guaranteed. If you do, well more power to you. Quite literally.

I’d imagine having Thor’s power of lightning and thunder is going to be a tough power to harness and control, and oftentimes it comes out as loud and powerful blasts much as if Thor’s hammer was bringing down thunder and lightning strikes. Perhaps with the help of Rune magic with the Thurisaz rune you may be able to achieve this.

  • It’s not unheard of for a child of Thor being born on a Thursday as the weekday’s name is named after him; hence the likelihood of being born on a Thursday and that weekday being your lucky day.

  • As a child of Thor, you might be partial towards the use of  a hammer as a weapon for its hefty, large swings of power (duh) but you might also be partial towards the use of a  staff that allows both long and close range formats of combat. You could probably use a long handled hammer as a compromise if you have the arm strength.

  • You absolutely are not as great at long range weaponry otherwise like archery, seafaring warfare as the opposite. However, if you are though, like Thor’s son, Thrud, it's entirely opposite and you’re not great at more physical direct combat. A tit for tat.

  • Regardless, there is still a need to smash things and its not uncommon to see you think about the idea of hitting something to solve your problems. Sometimes it does work and sometimes it doesn’t, like Lars Alhstrom instinctively grabbing a fire extinguisher to smash the windows to save the passengers from drowning.

The impulse or need is mitigated with other forms of constructive use of hitting; like woodworking, blacksmithing, or baking (hey, have you seen people hit and slam big balls of dough? Or cracking and breaking cookies and nuts to make them into a crumble?)

  • Speaking of weapons, whether it's by your mistake or by sheer coincidences, you have a habit of missing items. Just like Thor losing Mjolnir more than once, you have the same affliction which can be either annoying or stressful as Hel more than once.

  • The ingrained fear or distaste of Snakes is also a part of being Thor’s demigod, as he is fated to fight, kill, and be killed by Jormungandr. Unfortunately, you’re also more susceptible to Snake venom so it's best you don’t go anywhere near or touch venomous snakes.

Maybe even venom of other creatures but they won’t kill you immediately, but the effects are definitely harder than the average person.

  • On the other hand, snakes are just a part of your life somehow so due to sheer exposure, while you may not be the biggest lover of snakes, your distaste may be more amicable and mostly neutral where you can appreciate the snake but you do not want to be near one if given the option.

  • You probably feel more favourable to having tattoos, especially incredibly meaningful ones, and probably had thought of having one at some point; reflecting how Thor has meaningful tattoos of Sif, his two sons Magni and Modi, and the serpent Jormungandr. You learn to satiate the need or have fun with temporary tattoos.

  • Goats are going to be part of your life. You have no idea how and whether you have good or bad feelings towards it, it doesn’t matter because somehow they just exist in your life. This reflects Thor’s own two goats Tanngnjóstr/Otis and Tanngrisnr/Marvin who pull his chariot and are routinely killed and eaten by Thor every evening, and returning back in the morning.

If you were there to witness the meme wave of “screaming goats” and remixes like goat screaming with Taylor Swift’s “Red”, then that also counts as it pops up in your head every so often like a groundhog. Congrats and Sorry depending how you feel on it.

Chapter 4: 💖 FREYA🧙‍♀️

Notes:

I don't think I messed too much of Freya's lore and information but by gods, I might have somewhere. Researching Freya and Frigga was so confusing and hard that I spent months going over because there were sources that kept either mixing them up or implied that Freya and Frigga were or are one and the same. That or there were a lot of similarities-

Hopefully I did Lady Freya justice 😘

Chapter Text

💖 FREYA “GODDESS OF BEAUTY, LOVE, FERTILITY, GOLD, WAR, AND SORCERY” 🧙‍♀️

  • Welcome to being one of the children of the illustrious Freya, goddess of Beauty, Love, Fertility, Gold, Sorcery, War, Death, and member of the Vanir and the twin sister of Frey!

Being her child brings a lot of credentials to you that both bring a lot of respect but also scrutiny depending who/what your other parental half is; and your perception being her kid also depends on it too.

  • All children of Freya all have the similar qualities that belong to Freya’s realm; whether its beauty (i.e. Fashion like Blitz), are lovable in some shape and form, have a glow to them, or have a magical ability to them.

  • Freya is described as bright, unselfish, and a helpful woman, very loving towards her family and even towards others,  which is inherited by her children, but make no mistake, she does have a darker side to her as she does have a taste for blood and fights fiercely in battle, her children also reflect this.

Freya and her children are generally kind, bright, helpful, and generally all around good folks, but they are not to be taken as pushovers because when push comes to shove and they are crossed, they can be very intimidating and very dangerous.  Their demeanor is one they chose after all.

However, much like Freya with her obsession with jewelry, all children of Freya have a desire/obsession with something; particularly if it's physical, they can be easily swayed to do whatever they can to have it in their grasp.

  • A child of Freya is emotional, yes, yet they are also very practised how to emote them, and know their emotional maturity; so when they fly off the handle, that’s when you’ve either triggered them or broke the straw on the camel’s back.

  • Every child of Freya has some form of material possession; Freya with jewelry (particularly her necklace, Brísingamen), Blitzen with clothes and fashion. Whether it applies to something relating to wealth and appearances of, can be applied to anything relating to a material possession, a child of Freya’s strength and weakness is still the same.

  • I have to say it but there’s a good chance that a child of Freya is born on a Friday and Fridays are your luckiest days, because it is said to be named after her or Frigg. That said, if you were born on Good Friday, that’s double luck!

However, Friday the 13th comes into full force and is a major day of black luck to you.

  • Cats, must I say more? Alright, being a child of Freya also means being a lover of cats and all those who are feline in nature as cats held great symbolic representation in Norse mythology and were associated with Freya; who were also believed to be her familiars and protectors and were often gifted to newly wedded brides.

So being an absolute cat lover and cat magnet is in the cards for being a child of Freya! Unless your other half is repulsed or the enemy of cats, then well-

  • Alongside cats, there is a connection with boars as not only Freya’s chariot is pulled by two cats, it is accompanied by the boar Hildisvini, which she has ridden on before; who is also her servant Ottar into,to help him aid in reclaiming his inheritance from the Jotunn Hyndla.

  • While Freya is attributed being the goddess of sorcery, it’s more accurate to say she’s the goddess of seið, magic for seeing and influencing the future. You might have a higher chance of becoming a Vala - a seer- to see the future with runes, alongside cast spells if you have magical talent. Paired with a furry feline companion who the norse believed to possess the power of foresight and other supernatural senses.

  • Adding to the idea that if they are able to see the future, I don’t think a child of Freya can see that far into the future unless it is very determined; much like Ragnarok. Otherwise, they may get snippets or scenes of a movie if you will, where the content and context depends on their own knowledge.

However, they can’t see that far either because the future and the choices people can make can always influence them to be changed, and not even Freya can see that far into a determined future.

  • In terms of Runes, there are two runes that you may be feel connected to out which is Ansuz  which means God and while it refers to Odin’s breath, it’s representation for communication and of spoken word represents how Freya uses persuasion and a gentler approach to achieve what she wants.

  • The other rune is Fehu ᚠ - Cattle-  which is meant to represent the concept of abundance, wealth, security, and fertility; which represents Freya’s other realm of wealth and gold, and of course as a love and fertility goddess.

It translates as Cattle because back then owning a cow was only the wealthy could do. It is also used as a household protection to allow prosperity throughout their lifetimes, which is much like those who gifted cats to newly wedded brides to protect and bring wealth to their home. Which makes it a pretty fitting rune for a child of Freya, don’tcha ya think?

  • Another one of the runes that you might feel close to is the Rune Kenaz- - Torch; light; Knowledge. It’s associated with both Freya and Frey and it illuminates the darkness, represents the fire of life, passion, energy, and creativity. It’s considered one of the first aett (8) of Creation and represents the cycle of life- and as a child of Freya, the Kenaz can be a simple fire or represents your  passion, creativity, inner fire, and more.

  • Though, you may not need to have Rune Magic as you might be born with Alf Seidr or Elf magic- a form of peaceful magic. I think as a child of Freya, if you were to have Alf Seidr, they would lean more towards Pacemiakinesis; where they can create and manipulate peace, disarmament, growth manipulation, then healing.

More so because Freya manages Folkvanger ‘Field of People’ where it has a more peaceful and passive atmosphere than say Valhalla, and because Freya is one of the Vanir.

  • Not sure if you can cry tears of pure gold like Freya but I wouldn’t put past it being a thing with at least one of the children of Freya. It probably is golden tears but I like the idea of a child of Freya being also able to cry tears of other precious jewels and metals, like pearls for example. A nice reference to Freya, and thus any of her children, being descendents of Njord, god of the Sea, Wealth, Wind, and Fishing.

But there is also a chance of a child of Freya being able to cry tears of any other jewel or metal, based on their personality or whatever is symbolic to them. Maybe this also can be found out if the child of Freya has ‘jeweled’, ‘metallic’, or ‘sparkling’ eyes that you can see.

  • If you’re a daughter of Freya, there’s a chance you could become a Valkyrie but that’s just me thinking how you can have your hands on a feathered cloak like Freya’s feathered cloak made from Falcon feathers, which the Valkyries do have to change into Swans and allow flight themselves.

  • If you get your hands on a magical weapon or a weapon that can take on another passive shape when it's not active, I’d imagine you would most likely have it in the shape of a necklace, reflecting Freya’s Brísingamen.

  • There’s also occurrences when you know you’re a child of Freya and have gotten to know her, that you will act as her representative as if she was there. Whether it is to bargain and fetch new jewelry for her from the Dwarves, as her judge and witness during competitions and arguments, and so forth.

Which can be sometimes challenging with how sometimes fickle Freya can be in design and choice, though she does have confidence in your talents. Mostly.

Chapter 5: 👰 FRIGG👑

Notes:

I love Frigg and despite her being such an important figure, there's not much about her which I find appalling. Not to mention, there were mentions that replaced Frigg with Freya and it made everything confusing, made me pause writing to see if Frigg and Freya were the same deity or something, or just were errors-

I'm sorry if this is short, I really tried to use actual mythology to supplement so hopefully it's long enough.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

Chapter Text

👰 FRIGG “GODDESS OF MARRIAGE AND MOTHERHOOD, PROPHECY, LOVE, WIFE OF ODIN, QUEEN OF ASGARD” 👑

  • Being the demigod of Frigg is like being seen as a child of Odin and a child of Freya. There’s a lot of pressure and respect being a child of Frigg, but for more or less different reasons. Frigg, as the Queen of Asgard, is seen as an important figure but there is also a sense of unease because for all of her importance, her lack of presence and identity makes her elusive much like Odin; as many don’t know much about her.

However, she is a greater contributor like Freya, which adds something to it.

  • When you’re identified as a child of Frigg, definitely expect some confusion or overlap with being a child of Freya. This is more due to the fact Frigga and Freya are often overlapping with each other in mythology and knowledge, as well as the theory that Frigga and Freya were one goddess, and were interchangeable with the other.

  • Frigg was Baldur’s mother, who she loved dearly, and as we see with Mallory, she may not be that much of a hands-on parent, she does love her children dearly so there is a higher chance that she may have interacted with her children.

However, whether or not you are aware that she is Frigg is another matter, but you remember women with warm, motherly smiles and gentle hands that are firm yet shaky, as they want to protect you and hold you but push your back so you keep moving forward.

  • Frigg may not be able to change your fate, as she had learned from Baldr, she may have influenced it in a better outcome for you; so if things seem bad, it probably could’ve been much worse if not some interference from the universe or someone’s help, that you may or may not be aware of.

  • Carrying on Frigg caring for her children and her personality being compassionate and loving, this also carries onto her children. You would do anything you could that you believed was the betterment of others, especially those who you see as your own.

It doesn’t mean you necessarily have to be the soft kind of compassionate and caring personality, you can be much like Mallory Keen, where you can appear to be brash, blunt, or even rude at times, yet still be caring and compassionate.

  • That said, whenever it comes to your loved ones, as a child of Frigg and much like her who did all she could to prevent any harm coming to Baldur, you will do whatever it takes to make sure your loved ones are safe. Whether its with pre-emptive measures, making sure they’re okay mentally or physically okay, or doing it yourself to keep any harm that may or will come their way, even if it means at the risk of your own health and life.

  • Mistletoe is both your spiritual plant but also one you will curse with utter bane. It is the one sole object that Frigg did not require a promise from not to hurt/kill her son Baldr as it did not grow on earth as one of the reasons, or simply forgot to include it for how harmless/young it seemed (Note: Mistletoe is actual a parasitic plant), yet became a symbol of love and benevolence/peace by Frigg as she decreed it to never cause harm again, while promote love and peace; which falls under Frigg’s domain and character.

Its presence is almost always constant in your life, but what gets annoying is that somehow mistletoe always ends up getting in your way and being slightly inconvenient. Just avoid christmas doorways with hanging mistletoe (unless you want to), especially if there are berries still left on it. Don’t want to get involved in any godly or norse realm marriage shenanigans or anything.

  • Frigg is said to know everyone’s fate yet is also silent on it, so if you have the ability of being able to see into the future, you may not be able to grasp it well enough to properly foretell everything with the gigantic weight of information to properly process it, and even if you can, you are bound with the burden of knowing everyone’s fate and it has a grasp on your voice because there’s no time to say all of it.

The only way you can properly enounce it with the sheer amount of information is being like a Vala - a seer- to see the future with runes. Or communicated with ASL; which I feel like is a good work around.

  • Yarn, thread, knitting, any kind of thread work has a presence in your life one way or another. Another symbol of Frigg is the Spindle, a representation of being able to know everyone’s fates, so it inevitably appears in your life; especially if you have the ability to foresee the future.

This is probably another way how you are able to physically communicate someone’s fate; either doing embroidery or tapestry work.

  • On the other hand, can you imagine a child of Frigg using yarns and threads as their weapon, or having enchanted knitting needles that not only help glide whatever thread and yarn, or perfectly good to stab any enemies. (Disclaimer: I do not condone the use of yarn needles or any needles to be used outside of their designed use).

  • Friday is considered a day belonging to Frigg, as one of the origin names for it; alongside Freya and Frey, but much like them and their children, either you were born on a Friday or Fridays are generally your lucky days.

  • One of the Runes that feel close to is the Rune: Fehu ᚠ - Cattle-  which is meant to represent the concept of abundance, wealth, security, and fertility; which represents Frigga’s realms as a technical love and fertility goddess, as the queen of Asgard, and being the goddess of marriage and abundance for it; especially as it was used by stapling over households to allow prosperity through their lifetimes.

  • I’m not entirely sure if this just an ability unique to Mallory, but I’d like to think as a child of Frigg, you have the power of persuasion, which not only allows you greater persuasion effect onto others, but is able to protect you from being persuaded easily as well.

Of course, it might not hold up anything to do a god’s power of persuasion effect (COUGH LOKI) but considering how often malicious Giants love to circumvent the rules of Hospitality to kill their guests, I’d say it's a pretty good ability all things considered.

  • Frigg is often referred to as the Earth Mother, mostly being a Mother Goddess and were often attributed related to the Earth (and versely, their other counterparts were attributed to the sky; as either or).

Though it's nice to think that Frigg has some powers over the Earth, and thus as her child, you are also able to. Whether this is able to move the earth, rocks, crystals, and plants, it varies per person. Makes sense with how Frigg got an oath from everything to not harm Baldur.

Maybe you can persuade objects of such things to your will but never detracting their identity. For example, you can ask the mountain if it will allow you a passage through or over it, but you can never tell it to bow down to you.

Chapter 6: ⚖ TYR ⚔

Notes:

I found out about something about Tyr and it brought me so much glee and I am abhorred that this didn’t appear in the Magnus Chase stories because this feels like a very Rick Riordan thing to do, but by gods, I’m rolling with this pun so hard. I am both sorry and not sorry.

You will find out.

Chapter Text

⚖ TYR “KEEPER OF LAW AND JUSTICE, GOD OF WAR, COURAGE, AND DUELS/TRIAL OF COMBAT”⚔

  • Welcome to being the demigod of Tyr, God of Law, Courage, and Trial by Combat! He can be considered as the keeper of law and justice, a god of war, and more. He’s also the godly father of T.J.! While not many talk about Tyr, I’d say having him as your godly parent is rather good I’d say.

  • If you’ve been told you’re rather friendly and more trusting than others, then you share similar qualities with Tyr himself. He was the one who wasn’t afraid of Fenrir in the beginning and was also the one who ended up becoming friends with.

It did end up with him getting his hand getting bit of Fenrir when they chained him, but that’s more of circumstantial matters rather than as a consequence of being friendly.

  • If you find yourself seething and the desire to right wrongs, and having the desire to do the right thing with little thought to any possible consequence, that is also related to Tyr as he is the god of justice and courage. While not completely selfless and naive to give yourself entirely, if it meant for the greater good, you would do what is necessary to ensure it.

Tyr is the god who believes in just actions and doing the right thing, hence agreeing to put his hand in Fenrir’s mouth as they were chaining the wolf because it was the right thing to do for what the gods were asking of Fenrir.

  • That said, these personality traits can be to your advantage and disadvantage as you become known for sticking with your word and order, making you both trustworthy but also easy to take advantage of by more grey individuals.

  • Remembering being brave doesn’t necessarily have to apply in the battlefield or doing outright acts of courage. Being courageous is being brave in the face of adversity, being brave even if you’re scared and still facing it regardless. It’s not a continuous feeling you feel, it's the result.

  • Just because you are the child of Tyr, you don’t necessarily have to prove yourself by being brave and being just all the time. Sometimes its honourable to step aside and be modest instead of continuous persisting a raging river. Better to go with the flow of the river for a bit to safely land your boat so you can get off unharmed.

  • You were probably born on a Tuesday or have the best luck on Tuesdays as a child of Tyr, as the modern word of Tuesday comes from the Old English meaning of “Day of Tiw” and “Day of Tiwaz” which Tiwaz is another relation with the Rune Tiewaz and is connected with Tyr.

  • Tyr was considered an important war god, alongside with Thor and Odin, so while Tyr and being a child of Tyr may be considered less important than Thor and Odin, or seen not as passionate as they are in the battlefield, as a child of Tyr you are just as powerful and filled with battle potential where you more than likely have a more level-headed approach as you are set on the field.

You never or avoid in partaking in unjustifiable acts of terror then you already do on the field, and if possible give your enemies an honourable death- er, defeat.

I’m just thinking if you end up in Valhalla and have given many of your enemies an honourable death, you’ll be seeing them a lot in Valhalla so, uh-

  • At the least, you’re known to be trustworthy that you won’t stab someone int he back.

  • One of the runes you might feel close to is the Rune Tiewaz - - Tyr- meaning justice, leadership, sacrifice, honour, and strategy, and basically embodies warrior spirit.

While the Rune can be used to sacrifice one’s own strength to give to another fellow, I can see this rune being used to share your energy and feelings with others like a good leader does for his people and army, as well as demonstrating good values to others.

The rune can be used to enact justice or balance to others, an eye for an eye or something of that note. To serve injustice basically.

  • Other Runes include any of the third aett of the Runes, with Barkana, Ehwaz, Mannaz, Laguz, Ingwaz, Dagaz, Othala, as the third aett represents refers more to the realm of divinity, mastery, and oneself, and is associated with Tyr. However, whichever one resonates with you personally depends based on which rune and how you interpret it.

  • I’m not joking but that Tyr is the Thing-God. I know what you’re thinking because Thing can literally mean anything, but in actuality, God of the Thing means something along the lines of God of Legislative and Judicial assembly where he was present in proceedings that took place within, well the Thing, and was the primary justifying force behind authority of the assembly and foundation.

Latin references referred to Tyr as Mars thingsus which means “Mars of the Assembly [Thing]” which I find interesting because both Tyr and Mars have been referenced being great at treaties and keeping the peace, as well as being symbols of honour and order in their respective worship in a way and are connected to some form of government assembly.

  • On the other hand, can you imagine being a child of Tyr and the looney-tunes concept of running with Tyr being the literal god of the Thing. What that thing is, what the Thing is, who knows! It can literally be anything.

Just imagining you having to do a Thing and all of the Norse worlds just nodding along that you have an important Thing to do, where they think “oh a child of Tyr and they have a Thing to do, they’re following their father’s job; of course of course” but you can totally just go scott-free doing something else and still be right because you were doing some thing.

There’s so many shenanigans involving “Thing” and it's a glorious thing.

I can only imagine how many times you inexplicably find yourself the judge or mediator in things. Usually this is when you’re referring to some contest between two people, and yes it can be a trial of combat, but it can be something mundane like an arm wrestling match, whoever can hold a sour candy on their tongue the longest, a
friendly-insulting word match, and so forth.

Chapter 7: 🌞 FREY🍃

Notes:

Its Freeeeeeyyyy. You would think I would have Frey come right after Freya or before her, but honestly, Frey is a big deal in the Magnus Chase books, also people are going to get confused. I sure did. You have no idea how many times I wrote "Freya" by accident in this. So if there is....*gestures* I'll probably read this later and edit it.

Chapter Text

🌞 FREY “GOD OF SUMMER, SUNSHINE, RAIN, PROSPERITY, PEACE AND HAPPINESS. LORD OF ALFHEIM” 🍃

  • It’s mentioned that while there have been other children of Frey out there and have existed, it’s stated that Frey doesn’t go out much anymore so the moment you’re identified as a child of Frey, you’re probably the one of the only handful left out there. In all of the Nine realms to boot.

If you existed before Magnus Chase was around, then your life is very precarious with so many interested parties in you being alive or dead; so staying low is your only option or hopefully you get sent to Freya’s realm.

However, if you existed or identified after the events of Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer, well, it’s less precarious with your life on the line but it doesn’t diminish the interested parties interested in you. Whether they’re good or bad, just assume it’s all across the board.

  • Welcome to being the demigod of Frey, the Vanir god of Spring and Summer, the Sun and the Rain, and the harvest, Abundance and Fertility, Growth and Vitality, god of moderate climates and growing season, twin brother of Freya and Lord of Alfheim! You must be rather special given that Frey hasn’t been seen in a while, much less having any children.

  • Generally, many of Frey’s children are pacifist as they reflect their godly father who symbolizes peace and prosperity. However, it doesn’t mean they’re like daisies in nature, but they simply choose and value peace more times than violence.

It doesn’t mean being a child of Frey means being incapable of action either as they will do what is necessary to survive or protect others, and cannot have negative emotions.

  • There’s a lot of attention on you being a child of Frey and it's akin to being the deer that seemingly magically appears in a forest when people are taking a walk, or in someone’s backyard. It’s not unheard of and it makes sense yet somehow seeing a deer just draws your eyes to look at them. Even to regular mortals, this still applies.

  • You have a particular connection or you lean towards more to Boars/Pigs and/or Horses. Boards because Frey has a boar animal companion named Gullinbursti whose mane glows to illuminate the way for his owner, which Frey can also ride upon, and Horses because they are Frey’s sacred animals.

Pretty handy if you have and can use the rune Ehwaz - - Horse- rune. It represents a riding chair, and transport to summon a ride. However, whether you get a horse or boar might depend on the situation or whatever pull you have as a child of Frey.

Though you might get a seaship, boat representing Skíðblaðnir.

  • Definitely enjoy the outdoors a bit and being surrounded by nature helps a lot to your soul and body. Especially during the warmer months where the sun feels just a little warmer, that basks your body like a warm blanket.

  • One of the runes you may feel more drawn towards is the Fehu Rune - - as it is associated with Frey (and his twin sister), representing the concept of abundance, wealth, security, and fertility. It translates to cattle representing wealth back in the day.  In your hands, if you can use rune magic, its a rather versatile rune and in your hands, in the hands of a child of Frey, it allows you to greater tap into Frey’s power and domain.

  • Although it’s unsure if you can hold objects into the Fehu rune like Magnus did with Jack Sumarbrander in non-active use, but hey, you’re the child of Frey, you may figure it out if it applies to the rune and Frey.

  • Another one of the runes that you might feel close to is the Rune Kenaz- - Torch; light; Knowledge. It’s associated with both Freya and Frey and it illuminates the darkness, represents the fire of life, passion, energy, and creativity. This rune represents well for a child of Frey as Frey can be considered as a god of light, the spring and summer that chases away the darkness and cold of the Winter.

  • That said, you may have inherited the power of Alf Seidr- Elf Magic- allowing you to create an atmosphere of peace, healling, manipulating fertility in plants, and perhaps even telepathy between themselves and animals; especially animals under Frey’s domain.

  • As a child of Frey, if you were to take up arms with a weapon, you would be good at swordplay or with a long staffed weapon; reflecting Frey once using the Sword of Summer and Frey using an Deer Antler staff in replacement for the Sword of Summer.

Though with Frey’s general passive nature, there is also a chance you are good at archery or commanding the catapult; that keeps you away from the battlefield yet allows you to protect yourself and others from a distance.

  • There is also a chance you may have a talent in horse-riding as horses are sacred to Frey, or even seafare based battle, from the idea of Frey’s Ship, Skíðblaðnir, which will have favoring breeze wherever its owner wants to go and can be folded together like a napkin and carried in a pouch.

You probably don’t or won’t have such a convenient ship to command (mostly because Frey already gave Skíðblaðnir to Magnus probably in the form of a silk handkerchief), but you feel like you can command any ship or floating based device over big bodies of water as if it's your own; not just because you’re Frey’s child, but also because you are a descendant of Njord- god of Seas, Wealth, Wind, and Fishing. So the sea-fairing blood is definitely in you.

Still gotta learn though. You’re not exactly a fish in water.

  • As a child of Frey, you’re more than likely born either in spring, summer, or the cusp of spring-summer. Maybe even be born on a Friday or have fridays as your lucky days, much like Freya and Frigg.

  • Whether or not you do or do not have Alf Sedir magic, it doesn’t matter to you when it comes to helping and healing others when you can. Whether it's human, dwarf, elf, giant, or animal, you will do your best to heal them if you can with or without magic. Sympathy comes first before Callousness.

  • While not like a pure elf, you do strive better under daylight and sunshine; or the general need to be outside. Even if you are an introvert, there is always a desire to basically touch grass because you can feel yourself wilting and fading away if you don’t.

  • As the child of Frey, who is the god of Growth and Fertility, you are also able to manipulate plants. This is useful in terms of aggressive acts of nature, but also combined with the use of the Rune Thurisaz, as it also means ‘Thorn’ so technically you could use it to grow a mass of thorns and use that as your weapon combined with your power of growth and fertility.

Or use it as a Sleeping Beauty-Maleficent style to keep people away.

  • Other runes you could use it the Berkana -ᛒ - meaning Birch, to well, summon a birch tree for one. The Berkana rune represents not only the tree, but also new beginnings, indicating gentle rebirth and renewal and a bright future. It also means in terms of fortune, to manifest something into the physical plane so I suppose you could use the Berkana rune to summon other plants to use with your power of growth and fertility.

Or if you do have the ability to use Rune magic, I guess you could use that for anything else-

  • There are also minor light powers, like how Magnus tapped into Frey’s powers, but it's definitely easier to use with existing sunlight than, say, producing/emitting it on their own.

If you can however, it takes a lot of you so you might not be going full power on and blasting light everywhere. At least not without great cost; mainly energy but that might knock you out unconscious. For an undetermined and varied number of times; including minutes, hours, days…you get the point.

Your light powers also depend on two factors: one: your connection with Frey and his realm, and two: your own inner light; where you have to tap into feelings of lightness and warmth and protection to tap into it. If you have some major inner turmoil and darkness in you, it’ll be really difficult to summon light because of it.

And no, there are no shadow powers as consequence either. You’re a child of Frey, not a child of Baldur.

Chapter 8: 😈 LOKI 🐍

Notes:

Alright, its finally Loki. I see you Loki fans/demigods. You guys aren't subtle in my activity feed. Here you go *tosses this work at you*

Not gonna lie, this was really fun to write.

Chapter Text

😈 LOKI “THE FATHER OF LIES, GOD OF MISCHIEF, MAGIC, FIRE, SERPENTS, STORIES, ARTIFICE, AND DECEPTION” 🐍

  • You were already made aware you’re a child of Loki then most Norse demigods. This is mostly attributed because of Loki himself, as he makes it aware to your parents that he’s Loki and you learn of this, and even if you were kept unaware of your godly parentage, Loki appears himself to you either ‘in-person’ or in your dreams.

Given Loki’s list of children and how he treats them, in mythology and in the books, I would consider him a more present godly parent then the other (Norse) gods; which is both a good thing yet is also a bad thing at times.

  • Loki makes himself/herself present in your life as many times as he likes throughout your life; regardless if you feel amicable to him or not. Though if its the latter, he’ll definitely make it a point to appear in your life with visions and dreams/nightmares.

He definitely loves his children, but it sometimes edges towards the fact it's because you’re his children, that you’re carrying his blood and everything. Paired with what happened to his immortal children in the past, yeah he’s present a lot. Again, great for the fact he’s a much more present godly parent but on the other hand, depending where your loyalties lie-

  • However you feel being a child of Loki, whether its super cool or super bad, it doesn’t change about the constant suspicion and immediate speculation on who you are. This is attributed solely on Loki’s actions and his stance towards how he treats others and being a part of Ragnarok.

Loki, while in mythology has been rather helpful with the Aesir and the worlds, and is contributed to being a key in solving numerous situations, he is also very known to sabotage or cause harm to others on his own accord. Especially after revealing to be the one who was responsible for the death of the beloved Baldur and being the reason why Baldur wasn’t/couldn’t be revived either, many don’t have a good perception to Loki, and his children either.

  • Yes, while you can shapeshift as you like as your power from animals to people, it does come with a heavy price. Like in the books, the more you shapeshift, the more you feel and allow Loki’s nature and power take hold of you, leaving you at the mercy and whims of the god; much like how he made Sam not breathe in “The Hammer of Thor”.

There is also a great risk that by shape shifting more and more, you start to lose your sense of self, of who you are as a person and your agency as a person and without a strong tether as who you are as a person, this makes you easily manipulated and lost.

Basically cool powers but always at a great, great, price.

  • You’re extremely smart, whether by intellect or wits, as Loki is the father of Lies and Mischief which requires a lot of wisdom and knowledge. This also puts you as a person who is able to see the broader scope of things and acknowledge parts that many ignore.

  • You’re either getting yourself in and/or out trouble and/or getting somebody out of trouble. You’ll probably keep asking yourself how you keep getting yourself into these situations, usually in the moment of things,

  • Being a child of Loki also means being of change. It’s going to happen whether you like it or not, whether you are part of the change or are swept up in it.Maybe you start the change, or heck, even Loki.  The hardest thing for being a child of Loki is accepting the change and owning it entirely.

  • One of the runes that would symbolize Loki as a force of change, and as a child of Loki, is the rune Eihwaz, -Yew- and while yes it does represent Yggdrasil, it represents major and necessary change, growth, spiritual exploration, and there might be a significant confrontation with one’s inner fears and insecurities at hand.

  • Like Loki, and Alex Fierro and Samirah al-Abbas, they each have a sense of adrenaline or movement to them, an eagerness to experience something intense. Loki, routinely is impulsive in getting himself involved one way or another, Alex Fierro constantly shapeshifts without care, and Sam with her love of flying and being airborne, as a child of Loki, there is always that feeling within you. It might be present where you just like to take spontaneous walks, jumping on the bed, to something more active.

  • One of the runes that you might feel close to is the Rune Kenaz- ᚲ Torch. In the case of Loki, it symbolizes Loki’s fire and creativity, as both a Fire Jotun as well his constant inspiration. He’s known for his cunning and mischief which is also a form of creativity.

As a child of Loki, this rune can be used to tap into Loki’s fire jotunn spect and summon fire much more easily, or simply allow you to show you the light towards the darkness of lies.

  • Snakes are a symbol of Loki, and so in turn, as a child of Loki. Depending how you feel and your experience with snakes, it is either your symbol or your ill-omen. Regardless, they mean something to you so you should make the most out of it, accept the change and fluidity it brings.

  • Loki is a fire jotun (giant) so I can only imagine as a child of Loki, you may inherit his fire jotun ancestry. This could mean inheriting either fire-resistance to the more extreme fire immunity.

Maaaaybe being able to summon fire but I feel like there’s a little tradeback going with the ability to shapeshift or the degree to shapeshift if you do have the power of fire. Maybe you can become the human torch like Johnny Storm from Fantastic 4, but who knows? But uh, just note if you do attempt, be sure to be aware and prepare the necessary fire precautions.

  • You’re definitely crafty; both in terms of personality and handiness.

You’re crafty where you can be degrees of subtle and cunning in situations, as well as being crafty where you are good with making things;crafty where you’re good at art and crafts, good with your hands to make things for situations (much like Loki was attributed to be the one who invented the fishing net, which was used against him when he turned himself into a salmon to hide from the gods),

or crafty where you are able to hodge-podge things together in a sticky situation.

Back on being crafty, it’s not a surprise if you find yourself drawn to an artform of some kind. Like Alex Fierro with her and his pottery, and with a higher chance of have dexterous fingers, you are able to craft things together that make them yours.

Chapter 9: 🌈 HEIMDALL🐑

Notes:

Heimdall. Heimdall. HEIMDALL HOLY COW THE MYTHOLOGICAL LORE OF THIS MAN IS MORE INSANE THAN I THOUGHT.

I get it for the books sake, it wouldn't be possible to fully encapsulate him properly with the plot lines, but let me tell you, I had a feeling that Heimdall is just as important as Odin. Let that sink in.

Enjoy that cameo I wrote in!

Chapter Text

🌈 HEIMDALL “WATCHMAN OF THE GODS, GUARDIAN OF THE BIFROST BRIDGE, GUARDIAN OF THE SACRED MARRIAGE BED, THE GOD OF SURVEILLANCE” 🐑

  • Well, unlike Heimdall who was born from? Has 9 mothers? Being the child of Heimdall only includes him and your other parent as your blood parents as far as you’re concerned, so there’s that! Though if you have ever met Heimdall, it certainly feels like you’re talking to more than one parent with how many times Heimdall consistently trails off into another topic. Man can’t help it though, he sees, hears, everything in the nine realms.

Probably has been keeping an eye on you, even if that may seem creepy at times since you’re not sure when or how many times he’s been listening, observing you. Hopefully, whatever is happening in the other realms has kept him distracted from your most private and embarrassing moments from him. Unless you call for him and want him to pay attention to you.

  •  One thing for sure is that you don’t have Heimdall’s ability to see and hear through all of the nine realms, or at the very least, you don’t activate it for a very long time.

However, you could have inherited a small aspect of it, where your ears and eyes are better than most; you can leave it at that or can extend it further being able to see and hear things most people can’t- like hear and see through a wall. Just don’t do it too much though cause that’ll put a strain on your eyes and ears.

  • As a consequence, I can see a child of Heimdall carrying earphones or earplugs to block out or limit the sounds they hear; wearing glasses - whether it's sunglasses, visual aiding glasses, etc.- to limit their vision so they don’t strain their eyes in the process. Whether it's for just comfortability reasons or as an aid, it depends on you.

  • In the Prose Edda, there’s a speculation that Heimdall forfeited his left ear in the well of Mimir, much like Odin did- which could explain how he gained his keen senses so I’m just imagining a child of Heimdall have a disability (severity depending) while in exchange, having superhuman senses. A paradox if you will.

  • In general, being a child of Heimdall is noted to have an observant behaviour in general, even if their attention seems to be somewhere else completely. It's not that they don’t see it, it's that they see everything and so you have to be very specific.

  • While you may or may not have Heimdall’s obsession with selfies, adding to the observant behaviour of a child of Heimdall, I can see them memorializing their observations and what they see one way or another. Whether it's with photos, written descriptions, sketches, recordings or whatever feels closest to you.

  • One of the runes you may feel drawn towards is the rune Hagalaz -hail. This rune has many interpretations and layers to it, the rune Hagalaz embodies the themes of resistance and survival that this rune represents, with its symbolism of disruption and transformation. It has its connection of Ragnarok in which Heimdall is the one who hails that Ragnarok is beginning, or on a lighter note, the forthcoming of bad weather.

In terms of the latter, only after bad weather does a rainbow appear so as a child of Heimdall, it does have some relevance to you. Though, if you can use rune magic, the most you’ll be using this is summoning a hailstorm or a really bad rainstorm to bring forth a rainbow to appear which you might use to cross over somewhere.

  • In theory, you could learn how to summon down the Bifrost bridge. However, why would you and how many times you can do it depends. It’s not a small feat so it will take a lot of energy to make the trip so you better make it count.

  • Another alternative is using existing rays of rainbows to travel. It's less deliberate where you want to go but it's possible to use a rainbow as a traveling point. No, you can’t use the Rainbow flag as a method of travel since it's not an actual ray of the rainbow…but given the world of gods in this universe, I can’t deny that it could be possible to try. Probably have to do that blanket disappearing trick-

  • I can imagine as a child of Heimdall, you can summon rainbows and its powers. Less on the colour aspect of the rainbow but the light power of it. Definitely great if you can tap into the rainbow-light aspect to blind or fire powerful blast of light energy at your foes-

Now I’m wondering if a child of Heimdall can use Rainbows to communicate like a certain goddess and her services-

  • When you are identified as a child of Heimdall, you’ll always hear others joking that Heimdall left his post from the Bifrost bridge and Himinbjörg to mingle with mortals; it could be worse but still something you’ll experience.

  • If you have ever played an air-instrument or have an appreciation of them at the least, that’s another aspect related to being a child of Heimdall with Heimdall and his horn, Gjallarhorn that sounds the start of Ragnarok.

  • Heimdall technically has a horse so there’s a chance you’re good at calvary but I wouldn’t say it's automatic.

  • Heimdall has an association with sheep, and can be considered his sacred animal, particularly rams and with how his sword is mentioned with the horns on a sheep, so sheep are present in your life. Either you own sheep, like sheep, or born under the astrology of sheep of some form (i.e. Aries, Year of the Sheep).

Or just owning a lot of wool products; either in the form of clothes or yarn, knitting.

On the upside, if you love cats, you’re going to attract many cats since there’s a compound in wool that is also the same that reminds cats of their mother’s milk and when they were a kitten.

  • Aside from his horn, Heimdall has been referenced with swords a lot so I can only imagine being a sword wielder feels more natural to you to pick up.

  • There’s a bit where Heimdall turned himself into a seal to chase and fight Loki, who had stolen Freya’s necklace, Brísingamen, and while it could just mean Heimdall as a god can technically shapeshift, I’d like to think as a child of Heimdall you could have the ability to shapeshift into an animal; however, it’s probably limited to only one animal per child.

Maybe it's restricted to a seal or even a sheep if you want to go with animals related to Heimdall, but if you want to be creative or you really feel it in your soul, you could probably turn into a reasonably allowed animal. Or maybe your shapeshifter abilities are more like Selkie based realms, where they wear the skins of their animal form which they can shrug on and off to turn into an animal or human respectively.

  • Technically Heimdall is a god of Light so there is a possibility that you are able to summon or control light to a degree. It's different from Baldur’s light or even Frey’s light, which the latter feels more like the summer rays. As a demigod of Heimdall, your light reflects more like a rainbow. It can still be powerful, but its casting of light is a kaleidoscope of colour that is both touchable yet not.

  • As the Guardian of the Bifrost and of the gods, it's not a big surprise if you’ve taken positions of guardian as well. Whether it's watching over your family or friends, watching over little sheep or animals, or even being a goalie post where you don’t let the enemy team get a win, that’s just a reflection of your desire to keep those under your care safe from harm.

Chapter 10: 🌾SIF🌽

Notes:

Unlike most media depictions of Sif, Sif herself is actually not described as much and is just as mysterious. She's probably not the most exciting Norse demigod but hopefully, the powers I headcanon do make it a nice trade off. I really ran with whatever aspects of Sif I could so here we go!

Last Norse Demigod HCs and thanks for all the support by reading this and the rest of the other Demigod hcs! Thanks for reading and have a nice day!!!

Chapter Text

🌾 SIF “GODDESS OF THE EARTH AND HARVEST, OF CROPS AND GRAIN, AND FERTILITY” 🌽

  • Welcome to being the child of Sif, goddess of the Earth and Harvest, of crops and grains, and Fertility, and the wife of Thor! A high honour considering how important Sif was to people, given well, she is the goddess of the earth and harvest and whatnot which are very important to you know, living; on the other hand, many only know Sift for being the wife of Thor, so there’s a fair amount of people not thinking much of you and your godly mother.

  • Sif mostly plays as a peacekeeper, as seen notably in the Lokesanna, so if you find yourself putting your pride aside for the sake of peace or someone who meditates, then this is why. However, it doesn’t mean you won’t or can’t feel angry or insulted either, nor will you let harm come to you or your loved ones.

  • You may or may not have inherited Sif’s golden tresses, that may or may not produce gold like Sif does, if you have luxurious hair, then that’s something you’ve inherited from Sif. Perhaps you don't have golden hair and it may not give gold, but depending on what your hair colour is, you can probably produce something from it in equal value to gold.

For example, if you have black hair, maybe it can turn into black gold or if white hair, it probably can be platinum.

If you do have this trait from Sif, the only difference is that you need a good bushel of hair that fits the entirety of your hand to turn into valuable material taken from the root of your head considering you’re not a deity or immortal and all that. Just don’t do it too often or you’ll be left with a bald spot which is…well, you’re probably have to bargain or deal with dwarves to give you new hair much like Sif.

The exception is if you have red hair and you do have this trait, it’ll still turn to gold as the Norse and in the books, it's never just gold but also red-gold.

  • Sif may appear vain and narcissistic, especially with her how she loves her golden tressed hair, and some may say the same to you, however, what they don’t know is that you know your own value. You know you have worth and it is something you can be proud of regardless of others projection about their won insecurities about themselves. Much like sharing the bountiful harvest, you can show them their own worth and value, so they may share and help others with their own gift.

  • If by chance, your last name is Rowan or you have a family name tied to the Rowan tree, welp, that’s inevitable being a child of Sif.

  • One of the Runes you may have a closer connection to is the Rune Jera - meaning Harvest, Abundance, Summer, etc. Sif is the goddess of the Earth and its Harvest and Grains, as well as fertility so this Rune symbolizes her aspects and realms. Maybe you can use this rune to help you with Sif’s domain of the Earth, to help bolster the fertility of the land so it may help you in your time of need.

  • Another rune you may feel close to is the rune Isa - I - Ice,meaning pause, waiting, Suspension, stillness. Now you may think this might not work since Ice means winter and it is the opposite of Sif’s Harvest attribute, but she is referenced having a connection of Winter and with her son Uller, who is the god of skiing, snowshoes, and archery, and is a Winter god.

It may be a stretch but with winter, it allows the Earth to rest and heal to prepare for the next bountiful season, so you can probably tap into the power of Isa to your advantage or carry it around with you as a reminder that it's okay to be still, to rest, to contemplate in the silence for a bit.

  • As the Goddess of the Earth, Sif mentioned she is able to “track [Magnus and his friends’] movements across the Nine Worlds whenever [they] passed through a forest, or tread on living grass or moss”. I’d imagine as a child of Sif, you may be able to do something like this as well.

You can probably listen to the Earth as they whisper to you whatever happened and you are able to gather information as so. Not sure about the rocks of the Earth though given that seems more of a giant and dwarf aspect more so but who knows, if you’re half-human or half-dwarf yourself, then you may have better luck.

No giant Earthbending either, which is sad but you can’t have everything and otherwise Sif would’ve definitely used her powers to find Thor’s Hammer whenever it got lost deep in the earth.

  • However, as Harvest/Grain/Fertility goddess, and by extension, as her child, you are able to grow and summon plants as your power; increasing Sif’s and yours’ domain to your advantage when possible.

  • The Rowan Tree is Sif’s sacred tree which she can pass through one and the other across the Nine Worlds, and also how she brought Magnus and the gang to Bright Crack palace. As a child of Sif, you can use the Rowan tree and later with enough training and strength to transport you and others across between other Rowan Trees.

You might be asking what if there aren’t any rowan trees where you’re going? Worry not! The Alternative endpoints that you can use are any large trees, like Oak or Maple, because rowan tends to also grow on large trees as an ‘epiphyte’- which basically means it grows on another plant. The downside is it's probably less predicative where you’re going so better buckle up!

Anyways you can use your fertility and plant powers to grow more Rowan trees where you are going afterwards so be sure to keep a couple saplings or rowan berries with you!

  • You tend to carry a little seed bag of Rowan trees so you can use said powers to grow them when the situation calls for it like planting a new waypoint for you (and Sif) to use in the future like setting up a new portal- which is accurate in Neo-Druidism as they call the Rowan Tree as a Portal tree.

There are other uses for rowan trees as it's used to provide protection against malevolent beings which helps to prevent any curses thrown at you, but it can also be used to prevent you or anyone else getting lost as it’s also referred to as a “Traveller’s Tree” or “Wayfarer Trees” where it supposedly prevent those on a journey from getting lost.

  • Speaking of Rowan, you’re more likely to be be as a child of Sif, if you were born between January 21st- February 17th, according to the Celtic Tree Zodiac, your zodiac is the Rowan which has the nickname “The Thinker” or “Deep Thinker”; which adds to whole Sif’s luxurious head epithet if you think about it being related to the head; and those born under this sign are known for their intuitive/imaginative and creative nature.

Sif has been referenced as a Seer or Prophet, when referred to as
Sib a few times, and it's even mentioned in the Prose Edda by Snorri that she is also known as “a prophetess called Sibyl”.

Adding in that Sif can see and know things with her connection with the earth, I can only imagine that as a child of Seer you do have some clairvoyant-like ability using the Earth and its plants as a medium, if not with someone with full on prophetic vision.

Maybe you can use the Runes to help discern the future, with rune etched on rowan wood.
