OMARI (GlaDOS!AU)

Summary:

The concert was supposed to be perfect, but everything didn't go as Marie had hoped. She absolutely didn't want this. Her brother falling down the stairs and running away crying, disappearing without a trace. She didn't want this. She's so sorry. She's so sorry. She's so sorry. She's so sorry.

4 years later

Somewhere far, far away in Aperture Science, they've completed their GLaDOS project and it needs some supervision. So, the company hires a new employee who tries to devote time to both her son and her work, just like her husband.

Notes:

yeah yeah i know you w-w-want new chapre of Entangled Sun but i want to make a long chapter soooo to dispel ecpectations,i'm releasing this ti perhaps amuse in the style of Aperture

Chapter 1: SYSTEM START (Announcement)

Summary:

Chapter Text

Hey i started my OMORI AU and i starting it with this image

// APERTURE SCIENCE ENRICHMENT CENTER // // INTERNAL MEMORANDUM // // PRIORITY: GAMMA //

SUBJECT: INITIALIZATION OF GENERALIZED LONELINESS AND DIRECTED OPPRESSION SYSTEM (GLaDOS) AND PROPOSED REALITY EMULATION PROTOCOL

Good morning. You are reading this because you are either: A) An essential, highly-paid Aperture Science employee. B) A test subject who has stumbled upon a terminal you are not authorized to access. C) A sentient, time-traveling piece of produce. (We see you.)

This bulletin serves to announce the imminent, final-stage activation of the Generalized Loneliness and Directed Oppression System (GLaDOS) core. All previous morality core installations have been deemed "unfashionable" and "a buzzkill" and have been summarily ejected into the incinerator.

Concurrent with this activation, the Aperture Science Virtual Environment Simulator will initiate a groundbreaking new testing protocol: OMORI-White Space.

This protocol is designed to push the boundaries of cognitive resilience in a controlled, emotionally sterile environment. Test subjects will experience a state of perfect, featureless calm, punctuated by structured problem-solving modules. The psychological benefits of complete emotional nullification are projected to be… significant.

Key features of the OMORI-White Space protocol include:

A Perfectly Calm and White Reality.

A Laptop. For important calculations. And feelings. Do not touch the laptop.

A Tissue Box. For… excess moisture.

A Cat. Designation: MEWO. MEWO is not Aperture Science property. Do not question MEWO.

A Single Lightbulb. It will be your sun. You will love it.

The incorporation of this new reality is not a bug. It is a feature. The data harvested on hope, despair, and the human psyche's breaking point within an inescapable, minimalist construct will be worth more than all the combined grant money we… misappropriated.

The Enrichment Center wishes to remind you that while the testing environment may change, the core principles of science remain: Curiosity. Discovery. And the unwavering desire to see what happens when we poke it with a stick.

We are doing science. And we are all… very, very proud of you.

Prepare for unforeseen, yet narratively appropriate, consequences.

Chapter Text

The room was exactly as one might imagine in such a great company as Aperture Science: small, yet stuffy with an air of expensive opulence. Crimson walls, as if painted with the devil's own nail polish, absorbed the light. Caroline had just entered, walking across the thick red carpet that led to a massive oak desk. Ellie followed her, feeling somewhat out of place in this monument to someone's ego. A portrait of a smiling Cave Johnson with a manic glint in his eyes hung behind the desk, seemingly watching them.

The door closed softly behind Ellie. Before she could take a step, a gentle voice came from the left.

Caroline: Ah, Miss Ellie. I was expecting you. Please, come in.

Caroline was standing beside one of the chairs, her posture impeccably professional. They sat down.

Caroline: So, your task is exceedingly simple: to supervise GLaDOS. He adores conducting tests with our equipment, but... he sometimes fools around during operation. As a result, the test chambers have a tendency to break down.
Ellie: I see. So, I just need to look after the AI?
Caroline: Precisely. — Caroline's voice trembled, turning sad. She glanced briefly at the portrait. — After our founder, Mr. Johnson, was killed... His greatest dream was to transfer his consciousness into a computer. But, alas, we never managed to accomplish that. However, our programmers created a revolutionary AI. It's a shame he couldn't see it.

Ellie noticed Caroline's finger tapping the table nervously as she uttered the word "programmers."

Ellie: Oh, I'm sorry his dream wasn't realized. But I hope this AI will show its full potential at the future exhibition.
Caroline: Thank you. By the way, I heard you have a child. If it's not rude, what's his name?
Ellie: Oh, yes... But I can't give him much time. We're limited to phone calls. His name is Basil.
Caroline: What a lovely name.
Ellie: Thank you. Well, I should get to my shift.
Caroline: Very well. Good luck on your first shift, Miss Ellie.

Ellie nodded and left the office, leaving Caroline alone with the portrait. The door closed with a quiet click.
