Hajime H: Right. As everyone knows, getting communication set up has been our number one priority for the past two months. Since the last satellite was erected and the phones handed out last week, the need for a central mode of communication has been made clear. Not to point fingers, but many of you have been isolating yourselves, missing important community events, skipping meetings, and avoiding anyone who might help you. This way, if anyone’s ever in crisis, we can keep each other informed. From now on, either I or Usami will be routinely checking in with each of you. I know having me as a physician and counselor has been less than ideal, so I wanted to offer this alternative.

Nekomaru N: I’m scared………. and it pisses me off. I keep thinking about all those people who trusted me that I put on feeding tubes. or worse. I think focusing on her recovery has been the healing I needed. Helping her build up her fighting strength and regain her exceptional appetite has been exactly what I needed. World Destroyer: As you may recall, activating the Neo World's shutdown sequence was meant to revert all survivors to their previous selves with no memory of ever entering the program. Instead, the opposite graduation sequence occurred, and the survivors' memories of Despair came back gradually. This was because my creator’s memories had already begun returning during the program, enabling him to defeat Ultimate Despair and edit the effects of the shutdown. He had to travel deep into the simulation’s programming to do this, however, and the cascade finished its restoration of his memories while he was there. This was deeply traumatic and he became unwilling to awaken.

Sonia N: You’re saying he purposefully remained in the pod?

Nagito K: He succumbed to despair.

World Destroyer: It’s normal and healthy to experience despair in some instances. It is when you remain in that state indefinitely that issues arise. We agreed that stopping his own heart would be selfish and unproductive.

Sonia N: He considered suicide?

World Destroyer: Haven’t you all?

Sonia N: That’s unfair. We had just promised to always remember each other. After everything we had just gone through together, leaving us would have been unfathomably cruel.
