“ Intertwined, sewn together. ”
★
1st chapter.
King of spades. The next face card players were supposed to clear, almost one step ahead of surviving this cruel dimension. A plan that they hoped to work seemed like it wouldn't.
Arisu, sprayed the remaining bottles of gas in a pharmacy store, whilst the others fought for survival and freedom. Aguni— an executive, and militant of the beach— the so called 'safe' place they stayed at, turned into a game venue. Aguni was strong, or so they thought, he is. But maybe not enough to beat the mighty face card.
Kuina threw the pistol on the ground, "Fuck this useless piece of shit!" Words came out of her mouth, before having an idea. She got a nearby barrier and slammed it on the opponents side, before doing her iconic karate kicks, breaking the barrier almost instantly. Then, gunshots erupted, Kuina quickly crawled out of the way, shouting just enough for the forensic scientist on the other side to hear.
"Ann, you almost hit me!" the girl with locs shouted. "i wasn't meant to!" A reply for the other girl to hear, before Ann moved places to avoid getting hurt. They hid for a plan, Ann quietly steadied herself in the dark spot, preparing to aim their target, as for Kuina, gripping the cart tightly. Just then, what they had awaited for made an entrance.
They sprung into action immediately, but still, all of them divided weren't strong enough to beat this man. He was unstoppable. It was Aguni, full of agony. He was persistent and stubborn, to think he could outsmart their enemy. He punched the face card of all his might, almost all of his strength leaving his body. Repeatedly doing it on the corner of it's head.
Pinning him to a wall, the tables turned instantly. Before Aguni could react, the King of spades was already there to beat the hell out of him, returning the favor. His knuckles hit Aguni so hard that the buff guy felt like his soul almost slipped away from his own body.
"Aguni!" The girl with arrows shouted in concern, Aguni was bleeding. But he could barely process things straight anymore, what just happened?
Heiya wanted to be able to defend Aguni, she ran towards the opponent and tried shooting him with her arrow, but, the gun was pointed directly at her, there was no escape. The bullets pierced through her skin, from her lower abdomen to her collarbone. Her body ached from the bullets that hit her. But it was all worth it, for aguni.
Meanwhile, the forensic scientist worriedly went out of her spot, her pistol was gripped tightly onto her hands, as she was about to pull the trigger, two bullets hit her before anything else happened. Her blood splashed through every bullet that hit her, as she fell to the ground. The unbearable ache of her body worsened when her head hit the ground. Building in an immense amount of pain.
Kuina's eyes widened in horror, seeing her loved one shot and vulnerable after, she felt her anger consuming and blood boiling from the top of her head. She didn't care anymore, whoever hurt Ann needed consequences of their actions.
Kuina sprung out and punched the king of spades more than a few times with all her might, feeling a sharp blade stab through her leg, as she screamed in pain. Ann heard it all, it was driving her crazy, she wanted to scream "stop!" Because kuina didn't deserve that, none of them did. Kuina screamed so hard that she almost lost her voice. Blood gushed out of her thighs, her might slowly lowering as she was thrown next to Ann.
She panted heavily on the ground, hearing Ann's voice through her side.
"there's one more game left." Was all that came out of the other girl's mouth, Kuina couldn't help but smile in relief, "Ann, you're still alive!" Ann could feel kuina's excitement in her tone, she wanted to apologize and bring the girl in for her warm embrace, but they were severely injured.
"I'm.. sorry.." Ann whispered, Kuina was mad, not because of Ann. Because of what she said "Don't you dare apologize." Kuina breathed out, it hurt to speak but she wanted to communicate with Ann, before she rests peacefully.
Ann (tried) to shake her head slightly, gesturing a 'No'. She spoke again, this time. Her voice was softer than before. She has never been like this to anyone, they all viewed her as the, cold, intelligent and distant Ann. But, her demeanor cracks everytime it comes to kuina.
"No.." Ann mumbled, "I meant.. I'm sorry. That I never got to express how I really felt about you.. I've.. I haven't felt like this for only God knows how long." Ann spoke, she could feel her cheeks burning and heart pounding, the pain long forgotten and replaced by love.
Kuina's breath hitched, her hand searching to look for Ann's before capturing it with hers, "Ann.." Kuina murmured, before continuing, "our feelings are.. now.. mutual." Kuina's voice was barely above a whisper, Ann's lips formed a slight smile, glad that the younger girl next to her felt the same way.
But time was now short, they hoped to meet eachother again. And Ann wanted to make a promise. Her mouth opened to say something again, "Promise.. If we meet again.. we'll be.. lovers.." Ann finished, looking at the other girl's eyes, she was trying to nod, kuina's hand tightening around hers,
"I.. I promise.. I will forever keep this promise.." Kuina replied, Ann was on the verge of death. But she refused to slip away from life.
"'Til, we meet eachother again.. we'll go out on dates, on parks, on restaurants, wherever you want, my love" Kuina spoke, seeing Ann's eyes close. Her heart pounded with panic.
"Ann.. Ann.. N-no.. Ann.." Kuina repeatedly called out for Ann, her breathing fastened with worry. No.. Ann left her.
.. The sky darkened, Kuina was still alive, how come? Fireworks erupted from the sky. Kuina slowly turned her head to see the lifeless woman beside her. Intertwining their hands again.
Whispering the words, "let's go back.. together." She wanted to.

Kuina woke up with the worst headache she had ever experienced, she was on a hospital bed, she was unfamiliar of her surroundings and didn't know how she end up here.
All she remembered was, she was on the streets of Shibuya crossing, early in the morning. She saw fireworks, then.. then what.. She can't recall what had happened after.
