Work Text:
While they were never really officially together, everyone could see that Fred and FP loved each other very much. They didn't seem like the type to show any affection in public or even hold hands. Except from the way the two looked at each other. Whenever Fred entered the room, FP's eyes started to glow. Every damn time, anyone who was present could see the love in FP's eyes. If anyone came too close to Fred or made any romantic remarks to him, the lovely look in FP's eyes turned dark. He could easily kill anyone who he felt went too close to the boy.
Didn't everyone know Fred belonged to him? They weren't even together. He'd just find another reason to start a fight with whoever seemed to flirt with Fred. Whenever he showed up at the school or his place, with bruised knuckles or cuts on his hands and arms, Fred placed a small bag of ice on his jaw, eyes wide with panic and concern. Little did he know all of these fights FP got into were for him. Every time he laid in Fred's arms, he would look up at those gentle eyes, dreaming about a life with him.
They were only dreams.
There came Mary, who seemed to take a liking to Fred. She was everything FP wasn't. Hot, cool. She was from the Northside. He wasn't mad at Fred for choosing Mary over him. He could promise him a future that she couldn't. Every time he saw the two together, he gave Fred a sad look, wishing he could have been the one to make him happy instead of Mary.
