This Is Perfect

Summary:

Anna wakes to find her chronically early-bird husband still in bed next to her.

Notes:

Leap Year is one of my favorite movies. This was a little something I wrote a few years ago. Any constructive criticism is welcome, and I would love some reviews! This is my first time sharing a story on any site so please be kind.

Disclaimer: Nope, don’t own anything.

Work Text:

A loud beep pulled Anna from her sleep.
As well as her husband groaning, "Anna, turn that off, would ya?"

Anna hit the snooze and rolled over to face Declan. Her husband was always up way before she was so Anna was curious why he was still in bed. His back was to her, so Anna propped herself up on an elbow and leaned over to get a good look at his face.

"This is the first time in a while I've woken up to find you still in bed. Lazy morning?"

"Somethin' like that," her husband answered quietly.

Anna reached up and brushed his hair out of his face. "Is it another headache?" She asked.

Declan grunted, neither to confirm or deny, but Anna knew he had just confirmed her suspicions. He would occasionally get horrible headaches when he got too tired or overworked himself.

"I'll go tell Alex; he's in charge today."

Declan didn't respond so Anna changed and hurried downstairs. Within minutes she was back and closing the door quietly behind her. She pulled the curtains fully closed to block out any sliver of light and then climbed onto the bed next to Declan, who had turned towards her while she was gone.

"How bad is it, Declan?"

He slowly opened his eyes a crack and gazed blearily up at her, "Not too bad," his eyes closed again, "Yet."

"Do you need anything? Want anything?"

Anna ran her fingers gently through his hair while waiting for his answer. Declan just reached out and tugged her slightly. Anna smiled and pulled him to her. He was always so clingy when he didn't feel well so Anna just held him.

"This is perfect." He finally replied.

Anna kissed the top of his head, "Good."
