Chapter Text
Len sighed, flopping down onto his bed. Music was blasting through his headphones, possibly the loudest thing he'd heard since their last concert. That was fun, actually performing, but the practice... Gods, people went far overboard sometimes. He wasn't sure how, but he'd somehow shifted himself dangling upside down from his mattress, trying to will the headphones to stay on.
A sudden burst of light shone its way through his dark room, and Len looked up to see the door kicked open. The door opened towards him, so he couldn't see who it was. Typical. Must he guess? Who else could it be but-
The door then closed to reveal his sister, Rin, looking at him somewhat accusatory. She squinted at him, as if judging her options, and crossed her arms. She said something, but he couldn't hear what it was. In any case, he didn't care. Len righted himself up, and lay down on his bed properly, planning on ignoring her but not without flipping her off first. He saw her roll her eyes from the corner of his vision.
Before he knew it, his headphones were ripped clean off his head. Len blinked to see a rather unimpressed Rin dangling them out of his reach.
"Hey!!" Len tried to snatch them back, but she pulled the sweet relief of sound out of his reach.
"Dumbass," she muttered, before putting the headphones around her own neck.
Rin turned off the Bluetooth, making Len's phone immediately jump to continue the song. He leapt for it and paused it before she could judge him on it. The songs he listened to, like the ones he sang, often had... Questionable lyrics? Sure, that.
This time, though, he was sent a playlist of songs Fukase was complaining about having to practice for an upcoming mini event. He, quote, "didn't understand why he couldn't pick his own list for this, and that he was dying trying to match the pitch they keep giving him".
Originally, Len was listening to see what the problem was, and in all fairness they did keep making Fukase higher pitched songs despite singing better and easier in a lower register, but he had to admit to himself, he sort of just enjoyed hearing his boyfriend's voice. Admit to himself. Not out loud. Ever.
Rin raised an eyebrow at the sudden jump. "Okay, what are you, a frog? What's up with you lately?" She seemed done with some electric bullshit he'd missed already, and in a not great mood.
"Up with me? You barge into my room-" Len began, before getting immediately cut off.
"Adadaddadada, shut up. Shut up. Shut the fuck up, I don't care- I'm- I don't care," Rin interrupted, trying to keep the subject away from her points of blame.
But Len kept going after the first 'ada', so it ended in a weird moment where they both talked over each other and no one understood what they were saying. "Steal my headphones, disconnect them for no gods damned reason- Then sit here and judge me for turning my Spotify off?? Why do you like pissing me off?"
"I said shut up!!" Rin yelled, in the tone that made Len check no one came up the stairs to tell them to be quiet. Two glances at the door. No one.
Len crossed his arms and rolled his eyes. "So?" Okay, bad comeback. What is he, two? "I care why?"
Rin sighed slightly overdramatically, and leaned against the wall opposite his bed. "Luka said we've been arguing too much and have to do 'sibling bonding' this week or something like that. Which is bullshit, but now you know. Any ideas, smart guy? Or other plans?"
Len blinked. Yeah, they argued. But it wasn't like they didn't have a bond. They were already sibling bonded. They were as bonded as James. Okay, he'll stop now. "Uh... Busy."
Rin could see right through his blatant lie, but she didn't dispute it. She slid down the wall into a sit and tapped an arm impatiently. "The whole week? We gotta tick this off."
Len shrugged weakly and got off of his bed to mirror her. It's something they found themselves doing often, they were never sure why.
"Well, it's Tuesday. I've got something planned tomorrow," Rin continued, seeing as her brother won't talk. She didn't seem to be lying about that part, as far as Len knew. And as far as Len knew, it was probably something with Miku. Rin swore it was a normal relationship, but the codependency was strong.
Len shrugged, leaning against the wooden structure of his bed. "Why do we have to do this anyways? Can't we pick something on our own accord?"
"I know right?? It's like they think we'll kill eachother if someone doesn't plan something in advance," Rin scoffed, unfolding her arms and dropping them to her sides. It was quiet for a brief moment, neither of them saying anything.
"Friday?" Len suggested. There were a lot of places open Friday. If they couldn't get along that day, they had lots to distract themselves from eachother by.
"Though you were 'busy'?" Rin teased, with no real malice. She stood up like the plans were already made, however, so it had to have done something.
Len rolled his eyes and stood up, again mirroring her. "Yes or no. I may have found an opening in my terribly filled schedule."
Rin shrugged a simple yes, and tossed him his headphones. Not particularly caring that she could've broken them at all. She left without closing the door, or choosing where they were actually going to go. Typical.
Len sighed, headphones in his hand. He connected them to his phone again, kicking his door closed despite the fact any adult in the house would complain he'd break it eventually. He pressed play on another song and opened his contacts, only to close them again. With too much on his mind, Len was bored.
Through some cruel effect of staying up at night to watch another ten or so episodes of a show after 2 am instead of sleeping like a normal person, Len fell asleep with music still playing in his ears.
