Lieutenant Nex Pendable Mission Log

Summary:

A record of a stranded officer's early days at an anomalous black hole diner.

Notes:

The dates are divided with apostrophes because I wrote it to be a quadruple drabble and so it will have exactly 400 words

The funny issue seemingly being that Obsidian, where I wrote it, counts "3291.17.08" as one word while AO3 counts it as three words lol. So I replaced the dots with apostrophes, consider this to be worldbuilding I guess. Nex's people mark their dates with apostrophes.

Lieutenant Nex Pendable - Starforce Officer Daily Mission Log - Selected Highlights

3921'17'08 - Captain Birk and Commander Spork tried to escape this place without me and failed. I am now the only representative of Starforce here.

3921'17'19 - I have been in this place for over 30 days now. Well, my datapad says it was days but I can't recall the start and the end of them. Each feels like one long slog without beggining or end, and all the other patrons or the staff just shrug when I try to ask them about it. 

3291'18'05 - I have learned today that waitress Nat is good with knives. She and I handled an incursion of attackers trying to rob the guests of the diner.

3291'18'08 - Nat told me that I should stop recording mission logs because trying to keep the track of time in here only helps to drive you mad. I have rejected this advice as I won't be here this long. I also will not break with the mission protocol.

3291'18'11 - Using my Starforce training, I have repaired the quantum flux generator maintaing the gravitic field connecting the sign to the diner's main body. It's good to feel useful again.

3291'18'15 - A large block of ice got tangled up in the cables at the bottom of the diner. I have assisted the staff in dragging it up into the freezer. 

3291'18'17 - Something is not right, I can feel it. Someone in the diner is not who they say they are.

3291'18'19 - Yes yes, I think I've got it. I know how to uncover the impostor. I will need to act fast to catch it in time.

3291'18'20 - I have succeded in neutralising the impostor, I know it. I admit the tests I devised have proved inconclusive but there has been no suspicious activity since I tested the staff. I accidentally got locked on the freezer for a couple hours, but then the day's dessert was a very tasty goopy meat pie. A good day overall.

3291'18'22 - Nat here, for the record I took away Nex's datapad before he starts completely losing it. If any of you higher up Starforce guys ever get to read this and want to arrest me over theft of military equipment or whatever, you are very much welcome to try. I'd be genuinely glad if you pulled off hauling me off to jail.
