lets wish it up baby (at the pizzeria)

Summary:

Yushi pants heavily, throwing himself around the counter and ducking under as Jaehee slams the door behind them. The reception office is tiny and cramped, the two sit close together in hopes they can still their breathing long enough to deter the monster lurking down the corridor.

“What if it’s still outside?” Yushi offers, rather worriedly, after a few minutes of silence.

Jaehee sits up slowly to turn on the computer in the office. He’s offered a nervous stare from below as he begins to run through the sequence of cameras. He first checks the main room camera, then the corridor, then the storage room camera, and finally Pirate’s Cove.

Work Text:

Sion approached the group with an unconventional opportunity.

They had been on tour in America and hadn’t had time to stop and have their own adventures, so Sion took it upon himself to be a good leader and give his friends something to look forward to that wasn’t a concert.

“We are going on a trip!” Sion shouted happily, waving tickets in Riku’s face, who swatted him away.

Yushi looked suspicious. “What are those for?”

“Well,” Sion begins, “We are surrounded by cute things allll the time right? Why not try something new! Something scary.” Sion distributes the tickets to his friends.

They were tickets to the grand opening of a pizza chain restaurant called “Freddy Fazbear’s”.

Jaehee piped up, “I’ve heard of this place! its super popular with kids.”

“Why would it be scary then?” Yushi questions.

Sakuya and Ryo mumured in agreement with Yushi.

Sion began to explain, “This place, Freddy’s, has a ton of history! It’s known for closing and reopening multiple times a year but nobody knows why. Most people think it’s because the animatronics are haunted.”

Riku interjected, “And one of the many reopenings is tomorrow?”

“You’re so smart!” Sion teased before finishing, “Anybody that doesn’t wanna go? It’s not like we have anything but idol work to do.”

Ryo spoke softly, “Im sorry hyung I don’t think I’ll go. 127 Is having an event tomorrow.”

Sion shook his head disapprovingly before glancing at Sakuya.

Sakuya shrugged, “I promised I’d go with him.”

Sion sighed, “Okay maknaes are out. Does Jaehee have plans too?”

Jaehee smiled happily, “Nope! im free to go.”

Sion, Riku, Yushi, Jaehee, Ryo, and Sakuya then retired to their rooms and waited for the morning to come.

Sakuya and Ryo left early in the morning to get a good spot in the merch line.

A little after 6 PM Sion, Riku, Yushi, and Jaehee drove down to Freddy’s yet were shocked to find the place seemingly abandoned.

Sion parked and they tried to peek in through the window panes.

Jaehee spoke up, “Maybe they’re just doing maintenance on the robots?”

He would probably be right were it not for the fact that they arrived at the exact time the tickets specified. Why would they do maintenance while people were waiting to check out the place that had been the topic of so much intrigue and mystery?

Sion began to bang on the door and shout, hoping a custodian or security could help them out. He paid so much money for these damn tickets he BETTER get in there. Yushi lets out a sigh while Jaehee and Riku try to coax Sion away from the door.

After some time of standing around a tired looking boy with dark brown hair and bright blue eyes opens the door.

“Are you guys here for the opening?” He asks.

“Yes we are!” Sion answers happily, throwing his arms around Riku.

Yushi audibly gags.

Jaehee stops the boy before he was about to say anything else, “Could I ask why it’s so empty?” He questions.

“Not everybody is ecstatic about this place. We have cops bribing people to stay away to try and put us out of business. Honestly, for good reason.” The employee says defeatedly.

“Though,” He starts, “If you want to take a tour i’ll show you around.”

The group happily accepts as they’re led inside.

“My name is Mike, I’m a security guard here,” He explains, “The animatronics are operating, but they have us turn off the lights when we don’t have customers.”

He walks over to an electrical box and flips the power on, lighting up the entire complex. The stage whirrs to life as the animatronics begin to dance and sing.

Wish follows the man as he leads them to the main stage and through the backrooms. They see the new and improved “toy” animatronics on stage while the older ones quietly sit away in storage.

The phone in a nearby reception office begins to ring.

“I have to take that call. Feel free to look around while you wait,” The employee shrinks away into the office as Wish breaks up to inspect different areas of Freddy Fazbear’s.

Sion and Riku stay and watch the way the animatronics twist and turn in the auditorium, robotic voices following the instrumental carefully as the mechanicals play their respective instruments. The bear, Freddy, taking the microphone.

Riku gazes in awe as he spills his thoughts to the man next him, “The mascots are so cute and the song is so cheery! It really makes you feel like a kid again.”

“The employee isn’t watching. Do you wanna go on stage?” Sion gives him a cheeky smile.

Riku reddens slightly as he gives him a dismissive shake of the head. Sion ignores him as he grabs his hand to pull them up on stage.

While their seniors pull each other into endless conversation Jaehee and Yushi go to the back area to check out the older models, security cameras littered throughout the halls. They find a walled off room housing animatronics from one of the first Fazbear’s locations. The room was quite dark, however, the two still poke and prod until they find something of interest.

“Jaehee-ah!” Yushi happily exclaims, “Come here!”

Jaehee was looking at a yellow body that he couldn’t quite see the face of. He turned away from the machine to attend to his unit mate. “Yushi hyung? Did you find something?” He asks excitedly, a bright smile on his face.

Yushi presses a button on the back of Freddy, the only illuminated body in the room. They hear the mechanical gears spin and thrum alive. The animatronic begins to move about, giving the boys a show they wouldn’t have found on stage. Freddy doesn’t look much different from the one in the main room except that his coloring appears duller and rustic. Freddy shifts with his microphone as his internal music box plays a retro arcade-style sound.

Jaehee felt mesmerized. How could man make something so incredible!? Yushi felt similarly, happy to be sharing the moment with one of his closest friends.

“It’s like we’re seeing somebody’s passions come together, It’s wonderful! Don’t you think so Yushi hyung?” Jaehee turns to face him before finishing, “He reminds me of you! I admire how passionate you are.”

Yushi stood giddy at his words as the mechanical bear continued to sing.

“Jaehee-ah…” Yushi covered his face with his hands.

“Yushi hyung?”

Before they could get in another word the animatronic powered down. Yushi’s hands snaked away from his face.

“Looks like it’s finished. Do you think we should find our hyungs to share?” Jaehee says, already walking back to the door.

Yushi, fully recovered, says, “I think so. It’s very different from seeing them sing on stage.”

The pair walk back out to the main room to notice that all the lights had been shut off and the stage animatronics were powered down. They try to look for Sion and Riku to no avail. The employee that was there mere moments ago was also nowhere to be found. Worries brewed in their minds, could something have happened to them?

A patter of footsteps from down the hall caught Jaehee’s attention, quickly grabbing Yushi’s hand and pulling them into a nearby closet before locking the door.

“Jaehee-ah?”

“I have a bad feeling. I don’t think thats our groupmates.” Jaehee spoke in a whispered tone.

The closet was cramped, Jaehee and Yushi practically entangled. It might’ve been immature, but Yushi was getting a little embarrassed.

“Let’s just get out! I’m sure its nothing,” He urged.

Jaehee shook his head before offering a quiet apology, “I’m sorry, but that didn’t sound normal. We don’t know what that could be.” He caught a glimpse of a clock on the wall that read 12:21 AM. There was absolutely no way that was true. They’d only just arrived.

Just as he finished speaking a yellow body dragged itself into view of the closet door’s glass. Its metal was rusting and its jagged teeth seemed to never end. It dragged its leg behind it as its place for arms was missing, substituted by broken, exposed wires. Yushi and Jaehee heard each other’s heartbeats as they beat harder than they ever have before. Could that have been the yellow figure Jaehee couldn’t make out earlier?

Yushi felt his breath get away from him as he felt the dark closet wasn’t enough to hide from the monster outside. As his breaths got thicker he felt Jaehee’s hand clamp over his mouth and his own, trying to keep quiet.

The sound of metal scraping across the tiled floor grated their ears as the machine came to a halt in front of the closet door. Yushi could swear he felt his blood pressure spike. Jaehee kept quiet and kept his hands tightly over their lips.

The yellow monster turned away after a bit of standing and continued limping down the hall. Jaehee released their mouths as they both let in hard, deep pants.

“If we get to the office we can get to a phone or access the hall’s cameras,” Jaehee offered, speaking quietly. Neither of their phones had service.

Yushi gave him a nod.

The two exchanged a glance as Jaehee slowly creaked open the door, allowing moonlight into the dark space. As soon as the door had opened wide enough they ran as fast as they could to the security office.

Yushi gets up to try and dial a number on the phone to no payoff.

“What about Riku and Sion? God, I hope they’re okay.” Yushi says, rather shaken.

The office they were in was built with a main door to the front that they locked and two side entrances with retracting doors. The office seemed to have a bit of power as it was the only place left in the complex with artificial light.

“I hope so too. Let’s hope this ends well, okay?”

Jaehee watches the cameras intently as Yushi turns his attention to the alarm clock reading 12:36 AM. The boys are startled by an unexpected phone call from the seemingly broken telephone phone. Yushi allows the call to play as they’re met with a pre-recorded message from a former security guard. He tells them things about the animatronics. Their names, how they become active at night, how to avoid them, and a few tips. They can see the office’s backup power level on the computer screen. If it drops to 0 theres no telling what could happen, so they should try and avoid that. At 6 AM the nighttime is deemed “over” and the animatronics retire to their storage.

Yushi and Jaehee huddle together on the office chair as they feel the other tremble and shake. Jaehee tries to stay positive as he sifts through the cameras, “The man on the phone said that at 6 AM the monsters will go back to their room right? So let’s do the best we can. Im sure Sion and Riku are safe. Im sure of it.” He tries to offer words of comfort, placing his hand on Yushi’s shoulder.

Yushi feels a familiar warmth emanating from the younger boy, a positivity that he always tried to keep for his members. It reminds him of why he grew so attached to Jaehee in the first place. He always thought about everybody else before himself. Even now, in this horrifying situation he’s trying to cheer Yushi up.

“…Hyung.” Yushi mutters.

Jaehee stares blankly

“Say Sion and Riku hyung… you’re younger,”

“…So be respectful.”

Jaehee feels his lips curve into a little smile.

They were going to be just fine.
