Chapter Text
The morning sun filtered through the window. John could have sworn he'd closed the blinds before he'd gone to bed. Speaking of... Something else was missing from the bed. His husband's side was already cold and empty, the man already gone. But there were the sounds of dishes echoing up from their kitchen, and soft music. Ah, there's his boy. John grumbled as he got to his feet, padding down to the kitchen. When he enters, there's his husband. The darling was standing at the sink, grumbling to himself as he scrubbed a plate covered with dried food. That same morning sun outlines his husband like a halo as John steps up, wrapping his arms around his love's waist.
"What're you doing up so early, lovey?" His voice still carries the grumble of sleep, beard rubbing against his husband's skin.
That sweet voice comes back all soft, half laughing. "The dishes, what does it look like?"
"It looks like you should still be in bed with me, but yer out here cleaning. Come on, come back to bed." And really, it's not like he gives his pretty husband much of a choice, scooping the man up and trotting back up the stairs.
Now his husband is howling with laughter, clinging on to him. "John! John, I need to finish!"
"No you don't love, what you need to do is stay in bed with yer husband. Me." And John dumps his man onto the bed, crawling onto him. His love is still laughing as John lays down on top of him, flopping his full weight onto the man.
But soon enough, the couple is curled up together, John flopped across his husband's chest while the man cards his fingers through John's hair. Sure, there's still dishes in the sink, but right now, the bed is warm and they're together. It's a quiet morning, and what better way is there to spend it than curled up with your husband, soft and warm and together?
