Work Text:

It started with a missing drink and the slight edge of a tea residue on Atsushi’s lip.

Ryu wasn't going to take this blatant disrespect. No way in hell was he letting this go!

So of course he did the only reasonable thing left to do.

He ate Atsushi's Chazuke.

It had tasted as horrible as Ryu had expected. It's texture was just awful! Wet and mushy. At least the tea had tasted somewhat good.

He dabbed his lips, cleaning them. He let out a satisfied sigh as his revenge. Now all he had to do was wait for the white haired man to get back from class.

Speaking of the white haired man, Atsushi was busy fiddling with the locked front door.

Ryu, of course, in his revenge had locked the door and placed a board in front of it.

He could hear Atsushi fiddling with the keys, unlocking the door only to shove the door into a board.

A proud smirk grew on his face. His revenge was going well.

Atsushi let out a small curse and a yelp as he finally got the door open. He looked up to see Ryu with his Chazuke, eaten and gone.

Atsushi's face did a funny little scrunch before turning a ghastly white.

“Ryu,” Atsushi’s voice was strained and pitched two octaves higher. “Is…is that my Chazuke?!” His voice came out as a small yelp of pure pain.

Ryu felt immediate regret at the absolutely destroyed expression on his stupid jinko’s face.

“How could you?!” The white haired man gasped, stumbling forward as if Ryu had murdered his entire bloodline. “Ryu!” Atsushi’s eyes filled with pure rage.

“You drank my tea.” He supplied, taking another bite to spite the man even more. Atsushi let out a strangled noise.

“Get out,” He hissed, pointing at the door angrily. “You don’t deserve warmth.” Ryu rolled his eyes.

“You’re being dramatic,” Ryu sneered with a scoff standing up. Despite always butting heads with Atsushi, if the white haired man told him to do something Ryu would do it. In his own way of course.

“Dramatic?!” Atsushi shrieked, waving his arms. “You ate my chazuke!” Atsushi turned around with a stomp. “You know what?!”

“What?” Ryu coughed, adding more fuel to Atsushi’s fire. Atsushi crossed his arms with a pout.

“Goodbye! I’m not coming back till you apologize!” He stormed to the door with all the furry a young adult could have, throwing the door open with a loud huff. The man stomped out the door slamming it behind him.

Ryu stood there in silence. His heart was pounding, twisting with an ugly sense of worry. Atsushi didn’t truly mean that, did he? Ryu shook his head. No, the white haired man would be back within an hour. He was sure of it.

Atsushi did not come back in an hour. He didn’t come back even in five hours. In fact, it was starting to get dark.

Ryu figured the only way to get the other home would be to man up and apologize. He grabbed his keys, stepping out into the chilly air.

He’d buy Atsushi some stupid Chazuke and move on. Simple enough.

Except once he finally found the Chazuke, it came with a very very angry Atsushi.

Their fingers had brushed, sending heat to Ryu’s cheeks. For a second things felt normal.

Until Atsushi's face turned to a sneer.

“Really?” He huffed. “You're here to get more of my Chazuke?!” Atsushi was seething. He looked pissed. Ryu froze, heart stopping.

“Excuse me?” He snapped, voice cold. How ungrateful! Ryu was here to make things up to him! How dare he get offended!

“You heard me!” Atsushi frowned, his pout almost cute. Ryu scoffed, fingers gripping the chazuke.

“Back off Jinko!” He snarled, tearing the chazuke from Atsushi’s grip. Atsushi let out an offended yelp, grabbing the Chazuke.

“This is my Chazuke! Back off!” Atsushi growled, hand tangled in Ryu’s hair, yanking. Ryu yelped, hand going to Atsushi’s hair.

“It’s mine!” Ryu yelled. People were starting to stare. Atsushi let out another tiger-like growl.

“You don’t even like Chazuke!” Atsushi screamed, changing tactics to yank on Ryu’s hands. “Give it to me!!”

Ryu yanked hard, freeing the Chazuke from Atsushi’s hands. He turned and ran, Atsushi on his heels.

“Oh no you don’t!” Atsushi shrieked, attempting to grab the Chazuke. He missed it and the barcode slid against the counter. Ryu grabbed his card quickly trying to pay. Atsushi grabbed the Chazuke just as the card tapped, paying for it.

“Hah,” Ryu panted slightly out of breath. “There. Give it to me.” Atsushi’s mouth dropped open, a look of pure distraught on his face.

“..I was too late,” He sank to the ground with a whine. “Nooo…”

Ryu quickly turned away to rid himself of the guilt and quickly scurried home.

The second he entered he quickly grabbed a post-it note, writing a sweet little apology.

“Dear Jinko,” it read. “I am very sorry for eating your chazuke, even though you drank my tea first. Signed, Ryu.”

Sure it was short, but it was sincere! Or at least partially. Ryu only felt bad because his Jinko refused to come home.

He stalked over to Atsushi’s room, placing the Chazuke on the bed. He made sure the post-it note was stuck on tight before leaving the room to call Atsushi.

Of course Atsushi ignored his calls. Ryu sighed, exhausted, sending a quick, I have a surprise for you text. He sat down on the couch waiting for Atsushi to come home.

Ryu didn’t mean to doze off. It just…happened. He was blacked out on the couch snoring softly by the time Atsushi got home.

Atsushi, for all his anger, missed his bed. So he did the logical thing and caved in, coming home.

His footsteps were loud and grumpy, though they quieted down when he saw the sleeping Ryu.

“Ryu?” He whispered, leaning in to check if the other was truly asleep. Ryu didn’t move an inch. Atsushi almost smiled warmly. Almost. He was still mad. So no warm smiles for his Ryu.

He stood up walking quietly to his room. Atsushi went to sit down on the plush sheets, only for his hand to brush a chazuke package. His heart froze, eyes widening.

“Oh!” He gasped, picking up the note. He read it, carefully, cheeks warming with each word. Despite how short it was, Atsushi felt kinda touched. Ryu never caved first.

Atsushi felt a smirk sneak onto his face.

“Maybe I should threaten not to come home more often…” He murmured, laying down with a huff.

Oh he couldn’t wait to tease Ryu the next morning…
