Chapter Text
Everyone remembers how things - important moments in their lives - began.
But in Richard Grayson’s case he always knew how things would end.
That is what made him one of the best.
That is what made him valuable to the Hero community as a leader and a vigilante.
However, what made him dangerous was when he stopped caring how things would end as long as they fell in his favour.
And it didn’t begin all at once.
It Built itself up slowly, maybe since the day his parents fell, since he started carrying the name of Robin, since his name became a legacy.
Who knows? Not even he does.
But he knows what his breaking point was…
"How could you?!" Kori’s sharp voice echoed through the hall, where all the other “heroes” stood around them watching with varying looks of hurt, discomfort and disgust.
"I didn’t do it! I swear I didn’t even-" Dick protested, voice cracking is desperation and partially because he had been arguing from the past hour.
But Will’s sharp voice cut through it. "Yes, you did. We have freaking proof Grayson!!" All this Holier Than Thou act you put up for years, and you ended up assaulting a helpless woman?! Bloody disgusting." Will shouted clearly wanting to punch Dick.
"Will you have to-" Dick's voice was franatic now, he was panicking.
"What is there to listen Dick? …We saw the proof." Diana said, disappointment and hurt seeping in her voice.
"She’s faking it!" Dick shouted loudly, tears burning his eyes.
"Why would she? She has no reason to." M’gaan said bitterly. "You however have slept with another woman once. Who knows more than once…people don’t change."
Wally stepped forward, defensive, unbelieving. "Mirage tricked him! You don't know anything about it!!"
"Stop defending him, he is an absolute monster!!" Kori said Crying now.
"Dick...leave. you are no longer welcome in the hero community..." Bruce said stiffly. deep down he believed dick, but he couldn't favour Dick. Not with everyone blaming him.
"Father!" Damian protested loudly.
"Not now Damian, this is for the best." Dinah said slowly like she was the one being reasonable.
Dick looked at Bruce, betrayed. Not for kicking him out again...but for not defending him, not believing in him. "Please believe me..." he said, tears threatening to spill, nearly begging.
"Leave!" Brion snapped, as his fist connected with Dick's face. Dick stumbled back, not from the impact but because he was dangerously close to breaking down.
"And Don't dare come back. We don't care where you go. But humble suggestion? Maybe consider, jumping off a damn roof." La'gaan said.
"You Bastard-" Connor lunged to hit him but was promptly stopped by Barry and Oliver, barely holding him back.
"Enough Connor" Clark said sharply as Dick suddenly turned on his heel and walked out quickly.
Remembering back this moment, Sitting on a tall rooftop, of a city - far livelier than Gotham, far more peaceful than metropolis and more home than Bludhaven - Dick Grayson closed his eyes, not regretting, not anymore but wondering.
Was this supposed to be the beginning of his downfall?
.

.
.
Or their doom?
