The creature on the ground was cuffed and collared, spikes facing inward, some sort of cruelty Katsuki couldn’t even conjure up a purpose for. The chains were short and tight, designed to keep a powerful thing from moving. They seemed disproportionate to the boylike figure to which they were shackled.
Katsuki had seen a dragon, once. He'd watched it, gigantic and powerful and far above them, as it slinked in and out of the clouds. This one was dirty, bruised… tiny. His body was that of a boy’s, with hair as red as his scales, a desperate, feral expression stretched across his face. Like a cornered animal. Katsuki’s stomach twisted oddly, his skin prickled. His head swam with rage. It was, somehow, way fucking worse than he’d thought.***
It’s not like Katsuki was afraid of rejection, and definitely not of feelings, let alone his own. In any other circumstance he would have said or done something the moment he felt like it. But this—this fucking thing Eijirou went through that had him between Katsuki’s arms every six months, panting like a wild animal after hiding in the woods like a dog gone off to die—poisoned it all.
