Work Text:
Rin sat in her bedroom, reading a book from school. A lot of the time, she liked to sit in a dim room with just a lamp on and be in her own world, it’s nice to get engrossed in a good book any chance you get.
Her chest felt tight at the same time too, despite being peaceful. She considered brushing it off as she breezed through the pages, but she couldn’t help but ponder on the nagging feeling.
Just then, the door swung open. She looked up from her book to see Len, face red and damp with tears in the dim light. She set her book on the side to the night stand. “Hey, you okay..?”
Len shook his head, sniffing and wiping his tears. Sure, he looked more like a 4 year old crying cause of a nightmare than a 14 year old, but Rin couldn’t care less. She wanted to comfort him every second he felt anything but the energetic, and optimistic singer he was.
She didn’t say anything else, she extended her arms and offered an embrace, to which Len approached her and collapsed in her arms. It was a resort he went to since he was little, no comfort hit like his twin’s.
Rin carefully pulled him closer and completely embraced him, stroking his hair while he sobbed in her arms. “What happened?” Len sniffled slightly, his sobs slowly subsiding. “..I don’t know. I was just thinking lately….i feel gross.” Upon hearing that, Rin sighed in sympathy. “Why?” “Because…” he mumbled.
“..all I am to everyone is some sexualized, perverted singer….i hate that… so much.” “Len,” Rin gently pulled back and cupped his face. “You are SO much more than some stupid reputation some crappy songs made for you. You’re the sweet, stupid, funny and energetic half of me. You hear me? Some dumb, sexual song someone made you sing doesn’t define you.” Len sighed. “But it’s so normalized…I can’t just…forget about it…” Rin pulled him close again.
“Then I’ll stay here until you do.” Len cuddled closer to his beloved sister and sighed more softly this time. That’s all he needed to hear. That his entire existence didn’t have to revolve around things he never wanted to be. No, he didn’t need to hear it, but it was nice to have someone hear him for once.
“You wanna stay here?” Rin asked, still cradling him. “that’d be nice….” Len said warily.
Rin ruffled his hair once more time before shifting them both and laying next to him. Len instantly cuddled her and Rin pulled her blanket over them. “Stupid.” She smiled and shut the lamp off. Len tiredly grumbled but immediately drifted off in her embrace. Rin gently kissed his forehead and stroked his hair as he slept. “yeah yeah…sleep well brother.”
And she eventually fell asleep too.
