    Summary

    The sun was just a lightbulb in the sky and wouldn't offer him any warmth to help his frozen skin, only making him feel sticky with blood and sweat. Abandoned cars remained on the streets, scattered where they'd crashed into the buildings or into each other, with the odd body sticking out of a smashed windowscreen.

    They were moving. The people who had killed themselves in their own panic were moving even after death, and he watched their sluggish movements with pity. A few were walking.

    Maybe he was the last one out here; he really didn't know. Nor did he care. Smoke from a crashed helicopter rose to temporarily block out the sun before it was shining back down on him once again.

    His roommate had totally been right.

    He'd definitely just ended the world.

    Or, Mike Wheeler in the apocalypse, learning what grief is and learning to heal from it with the group of people he'd be willing to die for. And falling in love along the way.
