Work Text:

Peach has seen a few soap operas at the orphanage, on an old TV. Nothing was ever completed though, he never had the time for that. He sure did know what was popular back in those days. Now that he is married to Thee, he is now a lot more familiar with the world of soap operas.

It hardly takes an expert to notice a pattern in all the soapies that his husband loves. A love confession that resonantes through the minds of the viewers for a long time. Every single couple on screen had experienced this once.

The soapies raised Thee since he was a teen. Sure, he is now not lonely, but watching soap operas has now become a shared hobby of theirs. Be it old, new, sappy, fluffy. It didn’t matter, Thee and Peach just dedicated some time to just enjoy the bliss of unadulterated TV. Peach couldn’t help but wonder if Thee ever wanted a dramatic confession from him.

Peach knows that Thee loves him to the moon and furthermore. But does Thee know that Peach would gladly give up anything for Thee? What if Thee became insecure because Peach didn’t express love in the way Thee was familiar with? What if Thee wanted more but he hadn’t said anything to not hurt Peach and ended up getting oneself hurt?

What ifs flooded Peach’s mind. The rational mind of Peach said that this was just impossible and there must be some unresolved trauma that needs addressing for him to spiral.

But the devil worked harder. Spirals spin fast.

“Kian…” Peach called out. Thee who was resting his head on Peach’s lap shifted his focus from the TV screen to Peach.

Peach did not wait for an answer. “I love you!” he rushed out.

Thee, oblivious to the turmoil inside Peach had that signature smug smile plastered across his face. Only when Thee took the time to read Peach’s face before saying I love you back, did he realise that something was bothering his love.

“Lookpeach, I love you too…. So much!” Thee felt that, adding so much to his I love you would help his partner with whatever he was facing right now.

“What is going on, love?” Thee asked him, now sitting up right, holding Peach’s hands in his own.

“I love you so much too. And I feel like I don’t say enough of it to you.” Peach said, but Thee was already calculating defence for Peach.

“No wait, let me finish.” Peach interrupted Thee’s thought process.

“I just want you to be the happiest Kian. Whenever you are with me. I love you so fucking much. I will always be here for you. I will always keep loving you. Loving you has been the easiest thing that I have done in this damned life and I will never trade that over for anything. Seeing you smile brings me so much joy. Sure I might be saying that I will cut off that hair of yours that you keep twirling, but I want you to know that I love it when you feel the need to twirl it whenever you are thinking of something out of the box. I love it when you go above and beyond just to choose a breakfast spot for us to enjoy.”

Peach paused to take a breath. His own voice filled with warmth.

“I think I didn't express much of my love to you because I definitely have not done this before. I didn’t have anyone to give this love to. But Kian, I would give whatever it takes of me to just see you smile. I promise to myself and to you to always say more words. I will not be going anywhere. I don’t want to be anywhere else. I just want to be with you. You make me want to stay, you make me want to live. I love that I am always someone that you care about, that I am always in your mind. I am so happy that I am also a subconscious choice of yours."

Peach continued.

“You are the best gift I have gotten. Like ever. You love me so well. As easy as it is to breathe. I am beyond, beyond blessed to be the one receiving your love Kian. I love it when you just hold me without any complications. I love you so damn much. I love it when you get angry when I only think about accommodating others. I love it that you make me prioritize my own wants and needs. You made me loving myself easy Kian. I love sharing my day with you. I love it when I can just have a cheap bottle of wine and blurb out random things and still feel my absolute best. I love that my heart skips a beat at times when I see you in a ridiculously attractive suit. And I just want to kiss you till you drop. And I am so glad that all my wants are fulfilled. By you. And your love for me.”

Peach had a few unshed tears. So did Thee. Peach refused to look up. He looked only at their intertwined hands. Afterall, he had just poured his heart bare open. One might think that this wasn’t as dramatic of a confession, but this is the most Peach has done up until today.

Sure, Thee knew that Peach loved him. He had no insecurity about his husband’s love for him. He always knew Peach cared in different ways.

Brushing his teeth when Thee decides to be a stubborn baby just for the fun of it. Fixing his ties every morning before Thee steps out for his work. Driving Thee around even when there are multiple drivers around the mansion to do it, just because Peach wants to be the one to do things for Thee. Baking that one cheesecake again and again just because Thee once mentioned that this was the best cheesecake he had had in his entire life. Changing the sheets of their marital bed because it is something that feels too intimate to let anyone else do.

Thee knew all of this and so much more. Peach always loved Thee in his own ways. He even went beyond to learn self defense and other skills because Peach didn’t want Thee to be in a state of constant worry. He even joked that Thee’s face is too handsome to get wrinkles by his 40s.

“Love, please look at me.” Thee physically had to move Peach’s chin to help Peach meet his eyes.

“Thank you!” Peach was stunned when Thee thanked him for his love. Loving Thee was an easy task for Peach.

“May I know what is going on in that little brain of yours? As much as I love to hear all of this, I would also like to know what is going on?” Thee tried his best to coax an answer out of Peach. He definitely hasn’t recovered from that confession yet to add anything more dramatic or something with flair to his questions.

“I thought that maybe... well, what if you didn’t know how much I love you? I want you to know that I love you as much as you love me. No, wait. I love you more than you love me.” Peach rambled on, clearly emotionally spent.

Thee could just chuckle, vividly recalling his conversation with Plub a few years back. Peach definitely was the one who raised Plub.

“I know, I know that you love me. I don’t need any reminders.” Thee answered no question in particular. He pulled Peach closer, now seated on Thee’s lap. “The best thing you do to show your love is when you say that you are proud of me or that I am enough. You just know the right moments to say those words. I find myself feeling euphoric when I hear those words. And trust me, you say it at the right times. And if you are worrying about the quantity of those words, trust me Lookpeach, you say it plenty.”

“You love me in your own ways and that makes me so damn much happy.” Thee put an end to Peach’s worries. A peck on the cheek felt mandatory now. And Thee did it.

“I feel like I should say ‘I love you’ more often.” Peach added.

“I don’t feel any less of your love, whether you say ‘I love you’ or not. But, if it helps you be more at peace, then sure go for it my love. I am not sure if my heart can handle it though.” Thee reassured his husband, adding his own flair. After all, he was a blushing mess whenever Peach did anything.

Peach rested his head on Thee’s chest, pulling him closer. He pressed a kiss, close to Thee’s heart. “I love hearing your heartbeat. Especially when we just cuddle before going to sleep. It helps me breath after a long day Kian.”

Peach heard a giggle, and couldn’t help but join. “And no, you can't now get some damn machine to always play your heartbeat for me. I have got my own ears for that.”

A full on laugh from Thee. His husband sure knew him for who he was. Thee pressed a kiss to Peach’s hair and let himself linger there in silence. His hands found its place on Peach’s back and his waist.

“I love you. And I sometimes feel the most blessed because I get to hold you. I am blessed with the best opportunity ever. I promise to cherish it for a long time, Peach.” The utmost sincerity in Thee’s voice broke Peach’s sanity.

“I love you! I love you! I love you!” Peach repeated to Thee as if it was a mantra. Peach though, if said enough times, Thee would feel and hear the love that Peach held for him.

Peach finally pulled Thee in for a kiss, breaking his won chants. A thousand pecks following.

Best believe that Peach slept that night with no insecurity lingering around anymore.
