Chapter Text
It was a quiet night at the Hinomori household. Shiho had returned from a failed sleepover, fairly tired from making dinner too, and her parents were out on a date doing who knows what. It left Shizuku alone in the companionable silence. She briefly considered calling More More Jump, but she didn't want to disturb anyone, considering the late hour. Besides, she'd spoken with Airi earlier that day…

The two of them were hanging out in carino/carina, Airi being a huge fan of the place ever since More More Jump had visited for their huge review. Just as Shizuku swallowed a bite of parfait, Airi spoke up.
"Hey, Shizuku?" the pink haired girl whispered quietly. "Can you… help me out?"
Shizuku looked up from the dessert, peering curiously at her friend. Despite being the one to extend the invitation, Airi had seemed very nervous throughout the whole outing - a detail that hadn't escaped the older girl's attention.
"Is everything all right, Airi-chan?" she replied, curiosity and concern leaking into her tone.
"Well, yeah, but… oh, this is really embarrassing. You know Tsukasa pretty well, right?"
Shizuku's interest was certainly piqued now. "Yes, of course. I've known the Tenmas since childhood and such. But why do you ask?"
"Uh…" Airi's face was incredibly flustered now. "So… I might…"
Shizuku set her spoon down, waiting patiently for Airi to gather her thoughts. "I, uh…" she fidgeted, nervously tucking a lock of hair behind her ear. "I… oh, whatever! I might be in love with him!"
A moment of silence. Shizuku felt her eyes widen, her mouth falling open with a soft gasp. Airi's face flushed even more, and she scrambled to explain herself.
"W- Well!! Not necessarily in love love, but every time I see him my heart can't help but pound in my chest, and he's also incredibly kind and considerate and even his loudness is admittedly kinda endearing and, oh god, this is so stupid isn't it, I'll just go and die in a hole now—"
"Airi-chan, breathe for a moment!" Shizuku grabbed Airi's hand, tracing small circles around her palm. "Please don't misunderstand! I'm not at all upset, I was just quite surprised. In fact, I'm really happy that out of all the people Tsukasa is the one you like. I'd think the two of you would go together quite nicely!"
Happiness for her friend aside, Shizuku knew that Airi had a real shot with Tsukasa. While she was often seen as air-headed, people often failed to notice her attention to the smaller details. And one of those small details was the fondness Tsukasa's voice held whenever he mentioned Airi. Which was quite often, if Shizuku was being honest - it had led to some amusing yet entertaining talks with the sunset-haired boy.
So of course, Shizuku was going to support her friend in anyway possible. After all, what friend would she be if she didn't?
"Eh…?! You really think so?" Airi burst out, eyes drawn wide at Shizuku's comment.
"Hehe, don't be like that! You know, I believe anyone - not just Tsukasa - would be very lucky to have you."
"Geez, Shizuku…" Airi turned away. Her face was becoming pinker than her hair, causing Shizuku to giggle.
"I stand by what I said!"
"Okay, okay, whatever…! Just, uh, maybe you could give me advice on how to… you know, ask him—"
Shizuku interrupted with a dramatic gasp. "You want to ask?! How lovely!"
"Maybe just a hangout or whatever!" Airi tried to cover it up. "That guy probably wouldn't see it as a date anyway…"
Fair point. Tsukasa could be extraordinarily dense sometimes. "I'm not too good with this stuff, but don't worry! Leave your worries under my care and I'll do the best I can to help." She smiled reassuringly at her companion, who returned with a sheepish smile.
"…Thanks, Shizuku."
"We're best friends, Airi-chan. I wouldn't do anything less! Now," Shizuku lifted her spoon up again, a heaping of the sweet treat on the spoon. "Want another bite of my parfait?"
"Where did the last thing come from…?" Airi blinked, drooping dramatically with exasperation before giggling. "But sure, I guess I'll have some more. It looks good anyway. Oh, is that mango?"

After Shizuku reached home, she decided to work a bit on More More Jump's agenda before diving deeper into her newfound romance endeavors. Though she found herself getting rapidly distracted: she really needed to figure out how to set Airi up on a date! Shizuku had never done anything like this before, but at the same time, she knew that she had to do something…!
Maybe they could exchange numbers? She wondered. But Tsukasa probably wouldn't understand why he needed her number, so maybe she could stage something? Hmm, like what?
"Onee-chan?"
"Oh-!" Shizuku jumped in her chair, and she turned to see Shiho looking at her. But…
"Shii-chan, you're back? I thought it was a sleepover?"
Shiho grimaced. "Ichika got food poisoning…"
Shizuku brought her hands up to her mouth in horror. "Eh?! Is she alright?"
"She says so, but none of us believe her. We took her home at once, and her parents are taking care of her now."
"Ah, that's at least an upside… Please send Ichika-chan my best wishes if you see her before I do!"
"Yeah, sure," Shiho nodded. "Do you need me to make dinner or anything?"
"Oh right…" She hadn't eaten ever since she'd gone out with Airi. "I'm sorry, Shii-chan, I would help in the kitchen if I could."
"Don't worry about it. Want some Hamburg steak?"
Shizuku perked up. "That would be delightful! Thank you, Shii-chan!"
Shiho gave her a thumbs up before leaving the room, and Shizuku hummed in thought. Wasn't Shiho in love with Saki? Seemed like she had more work cut out for her…
But she wasn't going to give up! After all, Shiho and Airi were her sister and best friend respectively. And there was no way she'd let herself get stumped so easily for them!
Although that appeared the situation at hand here.
Shizuku sighed. She had no idea what to do in the romantic department.

…Which brought her back to the present. It was nearing midnight, and Shizuku knew all of her friends would be asleep by now.
Usually, so would Shizuku - but she was still awake. No matter how drowsy she felt, sleep refused to come to the young idol. Normally, after having some of Shiho's Hamburg steaks, she would feel a pleasant sleepiness, but now? Nervousness wracked her mind. I feel so useless... Surely there's something I can do…?
A sharp ping! grabbed Shizuku's attention. She hummed in confusion as she reached for it. What notification could I be getting at this hour?
It turned out to be a calendar notification for the stream at More More House. Though it was supposed to be scheduled for 12 pm, not am. She frowned, unlocking her phone in order to change the reminder's settings.
Find the app… and click the three little dots… there it is! A successful change. Shizuku smiled, Airi's face flashing in her mind. The younger idol had been teaching Shizuku how to use her phone more efficiently as of late, and the lessons had expanded into leaning how to use the internet as a whole.
These internet lessons from Airi-chan have been really useful, she thought. I can even use social media properly now!
With a sigh, Shizuku turned her phone off and set it aside. Social media was pretty tough to use, in her humble opinion. There were several options for different types of posts, and it all changed depending on the platform.
But she could consider herself a pro at using Twitter now! She even had her own account, and had started posting on it.
Posting on… social media…?
…Wait.
That's it!
A rush of excitement had Shizuku reaching out for her phone again. Airi-chan mentioned the other day that social media is a great place to find answers for potential problems. It'll be good too because of the anonymity, so no one will know it's me… I can help Airi-chan and Shii-chan safely!
She couldn't help but feel a little proud of herself for the idea. Airi had helped her create a small and personal account under the name 'Shirayuri' to keep her anonymous. With this, she could ask about whatever she needed - including matchmaking advice!
Right, I can do this…! So, you press… oh, it's this thing, right? Her finger tapped the blue plus sign in the corner of the screen. It loaded for a few seconds before displaying an empty box, which too was pressed upon. This was presumably the page where she could start typing what she wanted to say. I hope Airi-chan will be proud of me for this!
Though… I hope Airi-chan doesn't realize it's for her. She's one of my few followers, after all… maybe I can say it was for Shii-chan!
As the caret blinked at her curiously, Shizuku stopped hesitating and willed her hands to move. She remembered the small character limit Airi had mentioned, and decided to keep her message short.
A few minutes later, she finished. Her carefully worded sentences were as brief as possible, and intentionally left vague. She couldn't give too much information, other else she'd lose her anonymity. She didn't want her fans to somehow pin it down to her…!
Shizuku's mind swam, and she could feel the effects of her exhaustion creeping up on her. Perhaps the lack of sleep was catching up with her. She shook her head, glancing at the words one last time.
She pressed the post button. Once her finger made contact with the screen, it quickly took her back to her homepage, and after a brief moment of worry that something wrong had happened, a small bar appeared on top, informing her that her post had been sent. Shizuku sighed in relief, feeling satisfied with a job well done.
She clicked her phone off for good that night, setting it aside (and ensuring it was on charge). Maybe someone will respond while I sleep… she thought drowsily. A final thought crossed her mind before she fell into slumber for good:
I'll help you… I promise…

The next morning, all was peaceful and still in the More More House. Haruka was sitting on the couch, fresh from the shower she always took after her daily exercises.
But suddenly, the door slammed open. "Haruka-san!" Saito cried out, a frenzied look on her face. Haruka whipped her head around, concerned for Saito's wellbeing.
"Saito-san? Is there something wrong?" Haruka rose from the couch, leaving her phone on the side.
(It was running an idle penguin caretaking game that had been recommended to her by Shiho. She found it an excellent stress reliever in her downtime.)
Saito was doubled over, and heaved out her words between pants. "Have… you been on Twitter at all…? Or Tumblr? Or literally any social media?"
Haruka started to pale. "Uh… no, I haven't, not since yesterday. Has something happened?"
Saito sweatdropped. "Well, you might want to check the official account now…"
Haruka gulped, swiping off her game to see what was happening. She braced herself…
Oh gosh. Oh dear. "This is…"
"Yeah…" Saito nodded worriedly. "That post one of you girls made is going super viral. Guessing from your reaction, it wasn't you."
Haruka shook her head. "No, it wasn't. Who could have done this?"
"No clue, but we've got to find out today," Saito hummed. "I suppose today's stream will have to be an explanation."
"Sounds good," Haruka replied. "Stream's at 12:30, right? We have," she checked her watch, "around 3 hours to figure this out. We need to deescalate this situation as soon as possible."
Saito could only frown as she and Haruka watched the retweets and likes continue to climb in number.
Safe to say, they were fucked.
