Chapter Text
“It’s all yours.”
Parrot dropped the spyglass as he stepped off, effectively keeping the TNT mechanism below from activating. Wifies silently watched as he walked pass.
“Parrot..?” Wifies called out.
There was no answer. Parrot spared him one last glance before disappearing up the stairs. For once, Wifies could not read his expression. It didn’t take long before a droplet fell from his eyes and he realized that he was crying.
Why? Why did he still have the spyglass? He should have thrown it away. He should have given up their friendship. Wifies had orchestrated for that to happen. He had been prepared to sacrifice it all.
Wifies gazed at the spyglass. There would be another 5420 game ticks before it despawned. It was the first gift that Parrot gave to Wifies. The gift that Wifies returned before he got chunkbanned. The spyglass that the avian threw off the tower. In the silence of Paragon, an unspeakable urgency grew within his chest. It wasn’t because he knew he would die if he stayed any longer, but rather the fear of losing the last fragment of what they were before everything happened.
Wifies wanted to salvage it, so he ran. He ran towards his last ambition.
Before his fingers reached the spyglass, a red hand had picked it up. (Sorry, this is where the real crack starts lmao). They handed it to Wifies and he took the spyglass, gently cradling it. His dark eyes looked over the red blocked-shaped stranger.
“..TNT,” Wifies read the label plastered in front of him.
“Yep, that’ss me, I supposse this iss the firsst conversation between uss.”
“How are you talking??” Wifies was distracted from his emotions as he began to believe he was hallucinating due to deliria.
“It seemss that I have become ssenient..” TNT stated wisely as they looked at their sizzling hands. “But desspite having no eyes or earss, I have been aware.”
Wifies tightened his hold on the spyglass, afraid that it would slip away.
“There’ss still time before we blow the whole place up. You can sstill escape and make it up to the (biggest) bird—”
“It’s too late.” Wifies remembered the way Parrot turned his back to him and smiled with sorrow. “He’ll be fine without me.”
“…”
TNT silently embraced Wifies, chuckling once they had noticed his look of bewilderment. Despite the suddenness, Wifies unconsciously leaned towards the growing warmth.
“We will sssstay with you,” TNT proclaimed under their breath.
Wifies laughed unrestrained for the first time in a while.
“I appreciate the company.” Wifies lightheartedly joked as the hissing grew louder around him.
He closed his eyes and sighed in relief, expecting darkness in the next second.
However, the void never came. There was no pain.
Behind him, footsteps sounded. Wifies blinked into the light that still existed.
“Nothing happened..?” He stated the obvious with a dumbfounded expression. Nothing seemed to be going the way he expected today.
“Wifies.” It was the voice of someone who shouldn’t have been there. Parrot. Wifies turned his head so fast he thought his neck was going to break.
“Parrot? Why did you come back?”
Parrot didn’t respond, but his bright green eyes looked at him with gentleness and warmth. So unlike the gaze from before. Out of the corner of Wifies’s eye, Laufey walked in.
“It’s never Too Little, Too Late,” she singsonged.
Wifies didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, so he did both. Perhaps it was from the confusion of the unexpected situation that was making him short circuit, but it was a joyful occasion nonetheless.
“This was truly our Unstable Universe,” TNT concluded solemnly.
Then they all laughed and lived happily ever after.
Yes, Wifies was still hugging TNT.
