Work Text:
It was a warm summer evening; the sun slowly descended behind the hills, revealing a beautiful tapestry of stars covering the sky above like a blanket. The string lights formed a canopy above them as Tara stood expectantly at the altar, waiting to see her beautiful fiancé float down the aisle like an angel.
Sure enough, a song started playing from the piano to the right of her. The instrumental cover of enchanted by Taylor Swift filled the air as Rebecca emerged from her dressing room and walked decisively down the aisle. Her dress billowed behind her in the breeze, sending the many layers floating behind her into the wind, with the gemstones making her appear to be a magical being.
Both of their dresses were stunning but in different ways; Rebecca’s in a breathtaking, exquisitely detailed way, Tara’s in a subtle way, but nonetheless equally divine. And the two dresses complimented each other and the personalities of their wearers so perfectly.
They stared at each other, entirely infatuated by each other’s beauty. At that moment, they both knew to be excited by what was happening. All the usual pre-wedding nerves melted away as they knew that they had made the right decision. They truly belonged together.
Smiles coated the faces of all the onlookers as Rebecca finally reached the altar. It was only a small wedding, and it was perfect. It was officiated by David Rossi with handwritten vows from each of them.
Tara began with hers; “Rebecca, when I first saw you, I just knew that this moment would someday come. When we broke up, I felt adrift and unravelled. I didn’t know how I ever lived without you, and I never want to feel that way ever again. When you said yes to my proposal, I knew I wouldn’t have too. I love you so much, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life proving that by being with you.”
Then Rebecca started hers, “Tara, I love you. I think I never stopped from the moment we met, even when we broke up. I just love you. And I need to spend the rest of my life with you. I need to. Meeting you completed me and I never want to be incomplete again even if I have to be. Being with you means that that will never happen again. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you too. I love you so much.” There was not a dry eye to be seen after they had both finished. Everyone knew that this bond was perfect.
Then Emily, Tara’s maid of honour, handed over the rings and they placed them onto each other’s finger’s. The rings were beautiful silver things with twists and a mix of amber for Tara and emerald for Rebecca on each, to signify their union.
After that they stared deep into each other’s beautiful brown eyes as Rossi announced that they were married. Then they had a beautiful kiss. They’re married now.
It felt so good to be forever united now. To be able to say their wife. Not fiancé. Not girlfriend. Wife.
Their first dance was to a pop song. They didn’t want some soppy love song with no real meaning to either of them. And it was angelic.
The entire night went perfectly.
