It wasn't difficult. It shouldn't be difficult.
So why couldn't Link sleep? It should be an easy task to achieve but his mind is still awake even though his body's trying to shut it off.
Why couldn't he sleep?
He tried everything! He got some hot tea, he used a weighted blanket, he used no blankets, he read before bed, he exercised.
Nothing seemed to work because he was still awake.
He kept tossing and turning, only to receive a groan from Pipit who was in the next room.
“Link please! Go to sleep! These walls are quite thin y'know, I can hear you!”
Link would still…he couldn't sleep and all his moving only made it difficult for Pipit to sleep.
He stayed still for about 5 minutes…and then moved again.
A groan escaped Pipit, “Link!” He hissed out through gritted teeth.
He froze again and let out a sigh. Why couldn't he just sleep?
Link curled up, burying his face in his pillow as tears built up in his eyes. He was tired, he was so tired. He didn't sleep last night at all and he hardly slept the night before that!
He really did not want to make it to day 3 with only an hour of sleep.
So he shut his eyes, willed the tears away and tried to sleep.
But he couldn't. He couldn't sleep. He couldn't sleep because his mind wouldn't shut off.
As he tossed and turned again he heard an agitated groan from the next room…
Pipit stood up and walked out.
Goddess, his own problems were impacting others!
He was cut out of his thoughts when his door opened. Sitting up he saw Pipit entering the room. He closed the door behind him and sat down next to Link.
“I-I'm sorry…” Link stuttered out. “I-I didn't m-mean to k-keep you awake.”
“Hey hey, it's ok…” Pipit said as he moved closer. He reached a hand out and rested it in between Links shoulder blades.
“I c-can't sleep.” Link buried his face in his hands.
The older put his hand on his head, carding his hand through Link's hair, “I know, I know…it's ok.”
Pipit brought his hand to Link’s face, wiping away the tears before returning it to his hair.
“I can stay with you.” Pipit mumbled.
Link nodded as he was guided back to laying down. Pipit sat there, carding his fingers through Link's hair until he fell asleep.
With a sigh, he laid down next to the other and fell asleep aswell.
