Work Text:
Alone. At the edge of the universe, humming a tune...
’Love me some Hawaii Pt. II,’ I thought, seeing another cool animation on my fyp in YouTube Shorts. You always had wanted to animate like that, with all the beautiful flowing livelyness. But alas, with everything you had going on, you could do no more than black and white sketches on your phone. A shame, really.
It was already late-o’clock, it being 11:07 and having work in the morning at 6:00AM. Bright and early? Yupperdoodles! Happy for it? Absolutely fucking not! But it pays good... Kinda. You do wish that you could teleport somewhere else.
Maybe into a rich family, where you’ll worry for nothing. Or maybe into a superhero comic. Anywhere but here would be fine. But you didn’t realize that you said it all out loud.
After that, everything started to shift. The walls in the room distorted and glitched, like some sort of simulated room in a vr headset. The cozy, (probably dirty), bed started freaking out, clipping into the wall like some gmod chair that just wouldn’t sit upright. Then you were weightless.
Falling, but at least you had your favorite blanket wrapped around you. And your phone, headphones, and chargers for them both. If you were gonna be thrown into another universe, might as well be prepared. May need to call out as well, if the phone still turns on.
The landing was softer than expected, but you still land on your booty. The blanket has collected no sand, that’s good. But turning around, another very pressing matter is at hand.
The matter of all of these portals just sitting here, portals to anywhere in the multiverse. Star Wars, MHA, Undertale and Underverse, Homestuck, even a couple other fandoms that I didn’t recognize. There was now a task showing in front of my eyes.
“Save them all,“ it said, the letters glowing like some sort of neon sign. Oookay, so I’m a main character now (and you have to like me!)!
Welp, since I have nothing better to do, other than to call off work, challenge accepted.
For merely dreaming, we were snow...
