Workaround for forced logouts

For a while now, our Support team has been receiving reports from users who have been logged out of their accounts and are unable to log back in. While our coders have been unable to determine the exact cause of this issue, Support has found a workaround that should allow you to log in.

If you have been redirected to the Forced Logout page -- also known as the Lost Cookie page -- and are unable to log in using the Log In option at the top of the page, please go directly to the Log In page at archiveofourown.org/login. From there, you should be able to access your account.

We're very sorry if you've run into this issue! We have added this information to our Known Issues page and will be adding it to the Forced Logout page while our coders continue to look for a fix.

Yep, definitely had this issue. Couldn't log in for 3 days and tried everything from clearing browser data (which accidentally deleted. all. my. bookmarks. I'm still cringing over this because it wasn't email sync-able) to reseting my password, and panicking that my account had somehow been deactivated. Finally got in last night, glad to know it definitely wasn't my account.

Well I just managed to run into this on my work computer (I was on break, don't judge.) It wouldn't even let me load the log in screen either on my computer or my phone on data to try and do the work around. Good luck fixing it!

I'm having this issue on both my work laptop (I was on break, don't judge) and my phone on data at the moment. The log in page won't even load for me to do the workaround

Have been logged out. Cleared cache and cookies. Cannot log in on three different browsers. The site doesn’t recognize my password AND will not connect/go through to request a change in password, everything just hangs. The entire site seems to be semi-crashing for me - can’t get anywhere on any browser to do anything.

I don't know about anyone else but Apple installed an update a couple of months ago and they said in advance that it was going to force logouts of certain sites for security. I started getting logged out immediately after that update. Apple has some control issues.

  That's interesting because I'm only getting the problem on my iPad and iPhone but on my laptop (windows) have never had that problem.

I'm just curious if this is a part of it, but I was directed to a Lost Cookie page but I was ale to log in but when I did it said I'd be logged in for the next two weeks and to make sure to log out if on a shared or public computer. I was just curious if this was part of the Forced Logout page thing I'd appreciate it if someone got back to me on it!

This happened to me just a day or two ago~ I was in the middle of posting when I was suddenly booted to the forced logout page and couldn't get back in.
Thankfully I had my laptop nearby and was able to log in from that, so it wasn't a big deal. Will keep this in mind if it happens again.

i got this twice actually! on the day of this post and today :o idk why this happened, i was able to log in normally thankfully but this is a weird glitch, i hope this gets fixed soon! thank you for all of your work!

Hi, just thought I'd let you know that I couldn't go to archiveofourown.org/tags/Jason%20Todd/works without getting kicked over to the lost cookie page. This happened on my tablet, and then on my Chromebook within minutes of each other. I check this tag all the time, so this is the first time it's happened to me.
If I log in to my account, I can go to this tag and it works on both devices. When I logged off, again, I went to the tag for Jason Todd, and I was kicked over to the lost cookie page again.

I don’t have an account with ao3 yet, but every time I try to go to the My Hero Academia fandom link, I’m rerouted to the forced logout page. It only happens if I try to go to the main link for that fandom. Please fix!

I clicked on my story about another author's update while I was editing a new chapter to find I'd been forcefully logged out. Despite having been logged in for over a month, though I was able to log back in smoothly, I was rather confused. Was this due to an update perhaps? Just curious, thanks <3
