The Organization for Transformative Works' April membership drive is over and we are delighted to say that we exceeded our fundraising target of US$40,000, with a final total of US$275,724.51 donated by 7,528 people in 84 countries. We are particularly pleased that 5,810 donors chose to renew or begin OTW membership.

Thank you so much to everybody in our global community who shared, posted about, or donated during the drive. Your support underpins our ongoing mission: to serve the interests of fans by providing access to and preserving the history of fanworks and fan culture, in all its myriad forms. We’re glad that this is as important to you as it is to us.

And if you're just now hearing about the drive - don't worry! The OTW accepts donations all year round, and all of our membership perks and thank-you gifts are available whenever you donate.

On the 8th I clicked to read a story. Just a one chapter story, not very long, and the count was at about 6 thousand dollars. I hit kudos at the end, the page refreshed, and the count was at about 50 thousand dollars. Made me smile.

  Not very long ago, it used to take almost a week to reach the $40,000 goal, but these past three or so years, the rate of donations jumped really, really high in an extremely short period of time. Maybe the pandemic made people realize just how grateful they are for a site like AO3, I dunno.

I am thrilled with the amount that was raised with this drive. I watched the numbers climb exponentially and was so proud. I had to sit this on out due to medical payments that are still following us. I have not forgotten the importance of your service and existence for both writers and readers. Thank you.

I find it funny to watch the folks here go so far over the asked donation. Y’all could ask for 5 dollars and you’d get 300,000 in about an hour!! Gotta love this place

I'm not that long of a member of the site but I do remember the times when the donation banner had to be up for quite a while before you guys hit the goal. Now I visit the site and the first time I see the banner the goal has already been reached. Congrats. I'm glad the ao3 got such a supporting community.(84 countries wow!!)

i was actually flipping out when i saw the progress of the donations like while i was going on a fanfic binge, i saw the count raise up to at least us$20,000?!?!?!? i was actually jumping in joy god i love this community
