Our October Membership Drive has ended, and we could not be more grateful for your generosity. We are glad to announce that thanks to 7683 donors in 78 countries, we have raised a total of US$276,467.69! We're particularly pleased that 6147 of you chose to begin or renew your OTW membership with your donation.

Although the membership drive has ended for now, we do accept donations year-round. You can become a voting member at any time of the year—you just have to join by June 30 at 23:59 UTC to be eligible to vote in our annual OTW Board of Directors elections in August.

While our Development and Membership team is hard at work mailing out your gifts, we want to take a moment to say thanks. We wouldn't be here without your support in its myriad forms: your financial contributions, Fanlore articles, Transformative Works and Cultures citations, comments and kudos on AO3, and fanworks both old and new. It means the world to us and we are incredibly grateful! Thank you so much for your participation in this drive, and for making the OTW what it is today.

It was so much fun to watch this go up so quickly. Unfortunately I'm low on funds at the moment, but when I get a chance, I plan to donate (again). Thank ya'll for everything.

I donated in July and checked to be a member. Will my membership still be honored to vote? Do I get a icon or something that will let me know i am a member? Thank you!

  I think the cycle is July 1–June 30 so if you became a member in July you should be able to vote next year, but to be sure you can always contact the Development and Membership team and ask to confirm with them ^-^

one thing the whole tiffany situation from august did was motivate people to pay closer attention to the elections, i'll give their pro-censorship self that LMAO

    I think calling her pro-censorship is taking it a bit too far, but yes. We had a candidate with ideas that sat wrong with a lot of people.

    Yes, a candidate (tiffany) ran in the last elections on a platform based off of censoring fanworks and fanfiction authors. People like her trying to destroy fan spaces is why AO3 was created in the first place. So glad i'm a member for next years elections

    check out the interview between the last two candidates a few months back in the news here, from August, Tiffany G's answers specifically.. very very glad people got together to vote for the other candidates and not them, to put it politely!

    In a nutshell, one of the candidates floated the idea of updating the ToS and policies because (her words) "people are very concerned about the fact that some works contain child pornography, pedophilic content, and other illegal content". Loaded terms aside, exactly how she might've wanted this done doesn't make much sense to me because later in that chatlog, she suggested that rather than restricting content of works, more specific warnings could be added... It doesn't add up IMO, but there were enough red flags to motivate anyone leery of potential purges. (Keep in mind that this site was built by people who experienced the fallout of LiveJournal's Strikethrough and Boldthrough incidents, and you'll get the picture.)
