Chapter Text

Shouta was leaning against the counter next to Hizashi as he put together dinner. Drumming his fingers on his leg, Shouta sighed for what felt like the hundredth time in the twenty minutes since he brought his student down from that roof. Seeing a kid that's typically extremely cheerful at such a low felt like a punch to the gut.

The fact that he was obviously mistreated by adults in the past made him wonder, what could he have done to maybe prevent this? He should've noticed, he's the one who-

"Love, I can see you overthinking. This isn't your fault. You got there before anything irreversible happened. Midoriya is safe because you were there and you let him lean on you, okay?" Hizashi, the wonderful, kind, and gentle yet perceptive man he is spoke, pulling the ravenette out of his head.

Shouta took a deep breath and let it out slowly, sending a grateful look at the green-eyed blonde. He ran his hands down his face, allowing some of the tension to drain from his body. "Thanks Zashi. I needed that." HIzashi just smiled and squeezed his husband's hand and turned back to his task.

Izuku finished cleaning himself up, taking a second to breathe. Everything in him was screaming to run, that he couldn't trust Aizawa. Yet the dark-haired teacher had put his life at risk for him and his classmates, Sensei often tries to check in with 1-A and take care of them. The greenette sighed tiredly.

Well, as they say, no time like the present. Izuku took one last breath and left the washroom. He followed the sound of dishes clinking, winding up at the entrance to the kitchen. Yamada was flitting around the kitchen while Aizawa was just chilling, watching Yamada.

Izuku cracked his knuckles, fidgeting and rocking back and forth on his heels. "Kid, stop that, you're hurting yourself." a firm yet gentle voice spoke. The greenette looked up to see Aizawa had a concerned look in his eyes. The dark haired pro made a 'wait a second' kind of gesture.

A few seconds later Aizawa came back and handed Izuku a tangle fidget. The emerald-eyed teen wanted to protest but said protest died in his throat at the raised eyebrow his father figure teacher directed at him. Izuku moved the tangle around his fingers, appreciating the lack of pain. "Thank you Aizawa-Sensei." he said quietly.

The perpetually tired teacher let a gentle expression settle on his face. "Of course kid, anytime." Shouta let silence blanket the room for a moment, giving his student a moment to breathe. He didn't want to break whatever peace had enveloped the boy but hard conversations had to be taken care of.

"Kid," the insomniac spoke, "we're going to have to talk about tonight but it doesn't have to be right now. Would you rather we do it tonight after dinner or tomorrow once we've all had a chance to rest and calm down?"

The freckled teen twisted the fidget toy, weighing his options. On the one hand, he just wanted to get it over and done with but on the other, he was completely drained. "I...I don't know..." Izuku said, eyes downcast. Shouta knelt in front of the greenette, hoping his expression was at least somewhat reassuring.

"That's okay. How about we touch base on this after dinner and if you don't feel up to it then, we'll talk tomorrow? Sound good?" Shouta wanted the kid to know he had options but the ravenette also needed his kid student safe. Izuku took a minute to just fiddle with the tangle he still held, and finally spoke, "Can we...can we talk after dinner?" The freckled teen kept his gaze aimed at the floor.

"Of course kiddo." Shouta said, still keeping his gentler tone. "In the meantime, Hizashi made dinner. You like udon?" Izuku nodded, a shy but appreciative smile on his face. The black eyed hero stood up, knees cracking. "Alright then." Shouta showed his charge to the dinner table as his blonde partner brought two bowls out and brought the third, setting it in front of Izuku.

A few moments later dinner was served, and the trio sat down to eat. There was still stuff to do and conversations to be had but for now Izuku was safe with Shouta and Hizashi and the two adults couldn't be more relieved.

Tomorrow would bring it's own challenges but for the moment all was well.
