Chapter Text
Ms Pauline had arrived on base for the mercs weekly missions. These missions included things like killing one member of the other team more frequently, proving their own individual strengths in competitions, etc. However, there was a special file laid with the others. While they were in the office, Ms Pauline asked scout and spy to stay behind. "... This is not something to take lightly, especially you, Scout. This-" She turned the file towards the two. "Is an assination contract, spy has already done a couple of these, but this will be your first scout" She opened the file, pulling out a picture of a man. "This is the man you are to kill, Flint Rodrino."
"Rodrino?... That guy has my last name..." Scout murmered, and spy appeared nervous.
"huh... Im sure its just another person with your same name, don't worry about it" She blabbed, and they both nodded. Her finned hand placed the picture back in the folder, and slid it towards them. "Both of you read and discuss the file content before you begin. Inside there are two tickets to get you to the fire district, if you choose to take this mission. If not, you know where to put the file spy" Spy nodded, and Pauline exited the office. Scout took a seat.
"So, you've killed some outsiders for contracts?"
"Yes, they pay very good money and there are... certain people who I dislike"
"get dat, lets look at this contract"
They sat close together and analyzed the contract. It was a CEO from the fire district, Flare indutries, which prepared cooked berries. He was a relaxed man, he had no bodygaurds, but his building was covered in traps and security, but once you got close to him he was as weak as a fly.
"So should we take this contract on Spy? Its such an easy kill"
"It is an easy kill for you, Scout. It is clear that I have been paired to help you get through the defenses in the building. If we take this contract Scout, you have to promise me that you will listen to what I say." Spy growled, staring into scouts eyes. Scout stayed quiet, looked at the price tag on the file, then looked back at spy.
"Fine. I promise, lets go kill dis Flint" Scout smiled, and spy held his paw out to shake. So they did...
The next day, scout and spy had found themselves cooped in a small hotel room. The days activities were over, bleinding in and creating a reputation for themselves within the fire district. The soil was black and the sky was smoggy from all the open flames. Spy could naturally disguise, but scout had to wear an atrocious ammount of makeup and props to blend in... He did have to give credit for spy, he would of never been able to disguise as well without his help. The curtains had been shut, there was a do not disturb sign on the door and cameras had been blurred out for their privacy. They both had taken a shower, and now they were resting comfortably in seperate beds.
"How do you stay in disguises all freaking day spy? Its so much work to stay in character" Scout mumbled sleepily.
"Well, it is easier for me because I can naturally disguise as my ability, I do not need makeup. However, I have been doing this for my whole life. It comes very easily to me.. It gets easier every time" Spy spoke back, sounding like he had much more energy.
"Man... not to be mean but im happy I don't have your job. Im good at runnin, not hiding" Scout yawned, and settled down in bed.
"And I am happy I do not have yours, I cannot imagine charging into battle without any way of hiding" Scout couldn't see it, but spy was smiling.
"Heh... Ya freaking scaredy fox.." Scout yawned big... "Goodnight Spy"
"goodnight scout. Get lots of rest, tommorow we will be going into Flints building and gathering intel on the traps" Spy said softly, and Scout gave him an unintelligable babble. Spy soon also settled into bed, and soon they were fast asleep.
