Chapter Text
Long ago, when the human kingdoms had not yet formed and magic could be found in every corner of the continent, Ayla had first come face to face with HIM. His name was a whisper upon a summer’s night wind caressing one’s very soul. Aaravos, the startouch elf who mastered all forms of arcane magic.
He was a wandering collector of knowledge and a teacher to any who were willing to learn. The day he had arrived in Ayla’s village she had been returning from her usual sparring practice when she felt that something was off. The wind was full of whispers and there was a commotion in the main square. Following the sound, Ayla found herself in a crowd. Men, women and children alike seemed to press toward something or someone, eyes full of wonder. Slowly pressing through she accidentally got pushed into the square. Ayla shut her eyes expecting to feel the sting of stone but found herself instead falling against something warm and sturdy.
She was in such shock that it was until a deep rumbling chuckle sent a shiver into her very soul that she realized that someone had caught her.
“Well hello there” the deep voice mused, glee danced upon those silvery words and beckoned her to look up.
The most beautiful face she had ever seen looked down at her. Shocking golden eyes with bluish black sclera seemed to laugh without words, full of knowledge she couldn’t even start to comprehend, all save for his face and hands that were a light blue, his skin was a deep purplish blue speckled with white so that it resembled the night sky. She would be a fool not to know who this was, not when he gave her a smirk that would make a dragon blush. The man helped Ayla return to her feet, still holding her close. “I am the archmage Aaravos, bright star of Xedea. Who may you be, little moon flower?”
If anyone were to ask why her legs started shaking she would blame it on her training. “My name is Ayla.” She answered.
“Well Ayla “ Aaravos mused, saying her name like it was the loveliest thing in the word. “If you wished to talk to me you could have asked. There is no need to sacrifice such a pretty face to the stones.”
The time that passes after that was like a dream, she traveled with him his newest lover. She knew he would not keep her long but she followed him all the same.
Even when he was locked away she followed in spirit and would till the day she died.
