Chapter Text
Daichi comes to a halt at the crossroads. Bokuto, who comes standing next to him, raises an eyebrow. “What’s up? See something?”
“Should we…?” Daichi trails off, nudging to the left. Bokuto looks, and the corners of his lips twitch up when the realization hits.
“Is that even a question?!” he says, grabbing Daichi’s arm and dragging him to the other side of the road. Daichi doesn’t protest and lets his friend lead him to the kindergarten that they haven’t stopped visiting since. They may actually be making the detour more often than usual. It’s thanks to Kuroo that they haven’t gotten in trouble for it yet.
The kid was found the same night thankfully, not far from where Suga had his accident. The boy was fine, found by a woman walking her dog, and since it was the first time it happened and the kid wasn't hurt, Suga didn't lose his job. Takeda let it go with a warning, and made sure to send an email to all the parents with their kids at the kindergarten on how to properly close the gate.
The few children playing outside already recognize the two cops, and come running towards them when they appear at the gates. Yamaguchi, who had been watching them, waves. Daichi nods back at him, letting the children lead them inside.
Suga and Akaashi are cleaning up, Suga at the kitchen counter washing the dishes, while Akaashi is seated on the floor helping the kids put their toys back in their rightful place. When Akaashi sees them, he smiles, standing up as the kids drop their toys immediately when they notice the police officers. Suga hasn’t noticed them yet.
When Daichi walks towards him, he can hear him humming to a song. He places his hands on Suga’s hips and plants a small kiss on his neck. “Hey angel.”
Suga doesn’t even flinch when he feels Daichi’s hands on him, already used to him surprising him at work. “Why hello mister police officer,” he smiles, dropping the plastic plates in the sink to lay his hands on Daichi’s shoulders. “Don’t you have crimes to solve somewhere?” he teases.
“Yes, actually,” Daichi nods, frowning to seem extremely serious. “There’s a beautiful man on the loose and I have to keep him contained in my arms for a while.” Suga starts giggling when Daichi recites the words he’s obligated to say when he makes an arrest. “… can and will be held against you in court. Oh, and now that we’re on the topic…” Daichi pulls Suga just a little bit closer. “Your trial will be tonight at 7pm at my house. Don’t be late.”
“Will I need a lawyer?”
“Your charms will be enough to convince the judge, I’m sure.”
“Oh really?” Suga laughs, pressing his lips on Daichi’s.
“Okay but guys, you seriously make me wonder if this is a thing you do in the bed-” Akaashi cuts Bokuto off before he can finish that sentence by poking his elbow in Bokuto’s side.
“Not in front of the kids,” he hisses.
“What in front of the kids?” Atsumu asks, who just walked in.
“Atsumu, this isn’t your group,” Akaashi tells him.
“Well, yer group was being really loud so I just came to check what’s up,” Atsumu says, sticking out his tongue. “Ya still haven’t answered my question ‘Kaashi.”
“You of all people should know,” the black haired man says, sticking out his tongue too.
Atsumu seems to understand this, and he turns to Daichi and Suga. “So they’re finally dating now?”
“Yes.”
“And you and Bokuto too I assume?”
“Not… yet.”
“You’re not?” Suga butts in, who apparently had been listening.
“You’re not?” Daichi asks, now also surprised.
“We’re not?”
Now everyone turns to Bokuto, who owlishly stares back at them.
“Aren’t you supposed to be one of the two first people to know, Bokuto?” Daichi laughs.
Bokuto looks at Akaashi, his face changing to something more sad, a rare sight for many who came across the happy go-lucky guy. “We’re not?”
Now Akaashi starts to get uncertain and nervously starts fiddling with his fingers. “I mean, we never made it official…”
“I gave you the keys to my house!” Bokuto exclaims, almost looking desperate with his arms flailing around him and the tips of his hair hanging down, like he has some switch-on emo mode. “That practically makes everything official.”
“So it’s official then,” Akaashi says, laying his hands on Bokuto’s shoulders and smiling up at him. This seems to cure Bokuto immediately.
“Yes,” he grins widely, before pressing his lips on Akaashi’s.
Atsumu sees this as his cue. “You said it yourself Akaashi, not in front of the kids.”
Akaashi lets go of Bokuto to send Atsumu a death glare.
“Welp, seems like it’s time to go for me. See ya later!” And then Atsumu is gone. He chose life, Daichi thinks. Very wise decision.
“Miya-san is right,” Katsurou-kun says, dropping his car on the floor. Daichi recognizes him as the savage kid who thought he was an uncool cop because he bumped into a lamppost. “You guys are disgusting.”
That results in all of them bursting into laughter before Suga sends all the kids outside to calm down.
