Chapter Text
It’s dark out and with them living in the suburbs, Katsuki gets to drive down pretty empty roads. Izuku stares out at all the neon lights and signs they cross, humming to himself a tune Katsuki doesn’t know. The greenett’s hands are on his thighs, drumming a beat he cannot hear and he wants to take those scarred hands into his but Katsuki reminds himself that he’s on the road and needs to focus on the driving.
Katsuki drives as fast as he can without breaking any speed limits and before they know it, he has the car parked on a green hill.
“Here?” Deku asks, turning towards him and Katsuki nods, pulling off his seatbelt and turning the ignition off. The night isn’t warm, quite chilly if not for Katsuki’s high body heat.
The nerd climbs out the opposite door and stretches with an appreciative groan, “This place is so pretty, Kacchan!” He exclaims and Katsuki ‘hm’s in response.
They’re not too far off from the city, which is why they can’t see a lot of stars in the night sky but it’s starry enough, Katsuki would say. He doesn’t need stars to stare at anyway.
Izuku’s looking at the city lights away from them with his mouth slightly parted and the chilly night wind slightly ruffles the curls that sit atop his head. He turns to look at Katsuki when the flash goes off, along with a camera clicking sound.
“Pretty,” The blond says, shoving his phone back into his pocket.
Deku is probably flushed pink but there isn’t enough light to see the colour on his face. “Kacchaaan,” he whines and the taller chuckles at him lightly.
And because Katsuki likes playing with Deku, he asks an innocent, “yea, baby?”
Izuku groans under his breath and the blond tells him to just get up to re-arranging the back seats, which they do together. The arrange the blankets and pillows on the backseats that now roughly look like a mattress.
There isn’t a lot of space but he knows Deku and him will fit right in. If he can fit in with his Izuku, the one who’s just a bit taller and way more bulkier, he’ll fit perfectly fine with this younger version of him too.
Izuku gets under the blankets first, bringing them up to his chin and snuggling in with a small smile on his face.
“It’s so cold out!” He complains with a pout and Katsuki gets inside and locks the car before he gets under the covers too.
“You’re just a weak-ass baby,” the blond teases. Izuku scowls at him and opens his mouth to say something but Katsuki wraps an arm around his waist, bringing him closer and sighing into Deku’s hair.
“Sleep. I haven’t gotten a break from hero duties for a long goddamn time and I’m going rest the fuck up,” Katsuki says into the mop of green hair.
Deku tries to pull away and the older’s hand stiffens for a moment before he lets the other move. Izuku pulls back by the tiniest bit and leans up to place a shy kiss on Katsuki’s cheek.
“Good night, Kacchan,” He says, moving back to burying himself into Katsuki’s chest. The taller holds him more firmly, placing a kiss of his own onto Deku’s head and murmuring a soft, “night, sweetheart.” He hears Izuku take in a sharp breath, at the pet name no doubt, but falls asleep quickly.
Katsuki wakes up to Izuku wiggling around in his hold. There’s early morning light pouring in through the windows and he scowls at the light like it personally offended him.
“St’p movin’, nerd,” Katsuki says, pulling a obedient Izuku closer and breathing deeply. He usually isn’t able to go back to sleep when he wakes up so he grumbles lowly to himself.
“Kacchan‘s cute,” Deku giggles into the crook of his neck and Katsuki’s scowl deepens.
“You wanna die? You’re messed in the head is what.”
Izuku moves away from him and the blond lets him go in favour of stretching his arms in the cramped space. The greenett rubs at his eyes sleepily. Apparently, Izuku’s braver when he’s just woken up because he leans forward to kiss Katsuki’s cheek and pulls back to smile at him fondly.
“Thank you for everything, Kacchan,” the nerd mutters.
“God, I’m married to you. Stop thanking me for shit I’m supposed to do.” Katsuki mumbles right back and gets another kiss to his cheek.
“Kacchan’s the best!”
“Tch. Of course I am. Now get off, we’ve got to run to get grocery and get home. I’m not letting you eat shit again.”
They decide to freshen up when they get home because that would be the most comfortable. After putting away the sleeping supplies, brushing their teeth and re-arranging the car seats back, they stop in the parking lot of a small grocery store.
Before Katsuki can open his mouth, Izuku has his car door open.
“Nerd, put the damn face mask on!” Katsuki hisses and passes a black one after pulling two masks out of the glove compartment.
“Idiot,” He shakes his head and hates how there’s no meaning to the word. Deku hastily pulls on the mask while he turns the car off. They walk towards the grocery store and Katsuki hopes to god that no one recognises them this early in the morning.
Reina will have his fucking head. They’re supposed to be ‘in Hawaii’. Katsuki knows that his mop of blond hair and Izuku’s own green fluffy curls can easily be identified, especially when together but it’s really early in the morning and the sky’s cloudy so he’s going wish for no fan sightings.
Katsuki sees the greenett’s hand twitch nervously before he gently reaches out to hold his hand with hesitation. The blond lightly squeezes his hand.
They’re in and out in sooner than five minutes. While Deku exclaims, “Oh my god, Kacchan! There’s so much us”, he quickly grabs all that he needs and checks out at the self check out counter, pulling a reluctant Deku behind him.
Izuku pouts all the way to the parking lot and it starts raining. Katsuki has a paper bag in one hand and his husband’s hand in the other. If his Deku, the one he’s actually married to was here, the greeett would pull him into a dance right here in the parking lot.
It never mattered to him that he was terrible at dancing and would, more often than not, step on an exasperated Katsuki’s feet. He holds in a fond chuckle at the thoughts and pulls Izuku flush to his side. And because Katsuki’s missing his idiot a lot, his brain to mouth filter does weird things.
Izuku’s turned to look at him. “I love you,” Katsuki says, simply because he can. The nerd blushes and looks at the floor before looking back up at him again and his hair’s getting wet now.
“I’ve always loved Kacchan,” he mumbles back to him with a shy smile and a flushed face.
Deku’s always been cute in the way puppies are. Even when they were little brats, the smaller was cute. The Izuku he married was cute, with his scarred hands and undercut and buff body. But there’s something about getting used to seeing his buffed up husband and then being left with a smaller, cuter version of him.
He makes Katsuki feel mad, so he cages Deku against their car’s trunk. The smaller looks up at him with wide eyes and cheeks colouring red.
“I love you so fucking much, Deku,” he rasps out, leans down towards his face but lets Izuku close the distance between them. The younger gently fists a hand in Katsuki’s shirt and gingerly presses his lips to the taller’s.
It’s a chaste kiss, their faces and lips are wet with the softly falling rain but now Katsuki can’t stop. So he drops the bag in his hand at their feet and brings his hands up to hold Izuku’s face. He pulls back with a smaller kiss and pecks every inch of his face. Deku giggles, his hands resting on Katsuki’s own. It only eggs him on.
“I love you,” he repeats again, this time placing a kiss to Izuku’s wet palms, “I was a fucking fool and an asshole.”
“You apologised for it at UA, Kacchan. And I’ve already forgiven you.” The nerd says and there’s the softest look in his eyes. Katsuki can’t look away from him.
“I don’t-,” he starts but Izuku interrupts him.
“You deserve it after all you’ve done and still continue to do, Katsuki,” he says sincerely and this time, Izuku reaches out a hand to cup his right cheek and he leans into the touch.
Katsuki realises that their PR head is going to have both their heads if they get caught kissing in the rain in a parking lot and they get a move on. After Izuku’s seatbelt clicks safety and Katsuki’s pulling the car out of the parking lot, the smaller turns to him with a scowl. “You didn’t let me get any merch!” He whines.
“You’ve got more than enough of it in that nerd room, ‘Zuku,” He says. “We don’t need more of that. Besides, you have the real me, why do you want fucken stickers?”
He pulls out a mochi flavoured drink from the grocery bag and hands it to Deku to shut him up. He sees him take it happily and watches the nerd go through the geek shit on his phone.
When they’re back home, Katsuki pushes Deku into the shower and tells him to take his time and wear whatever the fuck he wanted since he knew where the closets were now. He grabs his own change of clothes and goes to the guest bathroom, eager to get rid of the wet clothes.
He takes a quick shower and comes out fully dressed in comfortable home clothes with the towel on his head to see that Deku’s still in the bath and resolves to go cook up a fast breakfast.
Katsuki’s plating up the simple food and chopped up fruits when Izuku walks in wearing shorts, fluffy socks and his shirt. His shirts usually fitted loosely around Deku’s body but with their size difference being bigger than usual, the shirt hangs on him even looser. The look is competed with the flush on Izuku’s face.
“You have some cheek, hah?” Katsuki tongues his cheek and Deku giggles, taking a seat at the table.
“You told me to wear whatever I wanted!”
“I’ll let it be,”
“Because I look cute?”
“Yeah, baby. Now eat,” Katsuki says, pushing the plate towards Deku.
