Chapter Text

Yeonjun looked at himself in the mirror. The crowd sat upon his head and he was in all white with gold accents. The cape pooled on the floor and had intricate gold designs on it. It clasped close with a gold hook near his neck and sat blended in with his jewelry. His makeup was done to make his skin look smooth and flawless. He wore gold rings and a few thin gold necklaces with small diamond designs on them. He took a deep breath and turned. He wished his father was with him, but he couldn’t be. The man was visibly ill, but he wasn’t going to miss his son's wedding. Since he could barely walk around at this point he sat up front and Yeonjun would be walked in after Soobin by his father. It wasn’t ideal but as long as his father was there he was happy. He grabbed the flowers from the maids hands and took a deep breath.

“Soobin made it okay?”

“Yes, Kai has his flowers now he has already passed them off. He chose not to wear the cape though.”

“What? Why? He said he would! Should I take mine off? Does it seem odd for me to wear mine and him to not?”

“Not sure sir. Come on, everyone is waiting for you now. Don’t worry, the cape is nice.”

Yeonjun nodded and carried the bigger bouquet of flowers and walked to the door. Each of their parents gifted them flowers. Soobin’s gifted Soobin his and Yeonjun’s father gifted him his. They were special since they were from his dad.  They are bigger because Yeonjun was his only son, so he could go all out without worry of bias towards one sibling over another. He saw Soobin’s father and smiled at him. The man smiled a soft smile and held his arm out.

“Ready?”

“Sir, are you…are you okay with our marriage now?”

“Honestly? I’m still a bit upset about how it was handled but Soobin is the happiest I’ve ever seen him.”

“Oh I see. I really do love him sir.”

“I can tell that you both really do love each other. We must enter now.”

“Yes sir.”

The doors opened and the Yeonjun took the older man’s arm. He walked with Yeonjun as they entered. The church was full of people. Everyone’s eyes were on Yeonjun as he entered, including Soobin’s. Yeonjun locked eyes with Soobin and Soobin smiled so brightly. Yeonjun felt starstruck just seeing his soon to be husband looking so gorgeous in his white suit. The boy had many necklaces layered and his eyes were bright as he watched Yeonjun walk. They both couldn’t stop staring at the other. Soobin’s father stopped at the end of the aisle and Yeonjun met him there. Yeonjun took Soobin’s arm and the pair walked forward.

“You look so beautiful today Yeonjun.”

“You didn’t wear your cape.”

“You look so soft and handsome with it. Mom suggested I should let you just wear yours.”

“Oh I see. Okay bin.”

Yeonjun smiled and Soobin held his hands. They both took a deep breath and Soobin squeezed his hands.

“Let’s do this baby. Let’s get married.”

“Let’s get married, Bin.”

The pair walked hand in hand into the venue. Soobin bowed first and then Yeonjun bowed as everyone clapped.

“Thank you all for coming! Dinner will be served soon.”

Soobin pulled Yeonjun to their table at the front of the venue on a small stage. There was enough room for people to walk up to the table to speak to the couple. But luckily no one was waiting for them there. The pair sat and then everyone else sat. The crowns on their heads really meant so much in their world. Yeonjun did feel the pressure, but he had Soobin so it would be okay. Soobin leaned close and whispered in his ear.

“Smile a bit more baby. You seem upset.”

“I’m just nervous now.”

“Nervous, why?”

“Everyone’s watching us Soobin. I’m used to the eyes, but I used to not care at all. I care so much more now. I want to do well for us.”

“I know but today's our day, Yeonjun.”

Yeonjun looked at him and nodded.

“Okay yeah.”

“You look pretty when you smile. Come on.”

Soobin leaned down close to Yeonjun and crowded his space. Yeonjun felt a blush rising on his cheeks as he smiled.

“Wow you look so good Jun.”

“Choi Soobin, you have to stop flirting with me.”

“Why? I’m your husband now. I want to flirt with you all the time now.”

“Your confidence has risen. This is dangerous for me.”

“I’m confident because you’re my husband. You’re stuck with me now.”

Yeonjun laughed and blushed hard as a man cleared his throat. Food was placed in front of them and then served to everyone else. The pair ate with soft conversation. After dinner many people came to congratulate them or share words of wisdom for marriage. The pair just nodded and smiled as they listened. They were officially the kings. The pressure was on, but for today they could relax happily, so they did. After the ceremony the pair sat huddled up in the car. Like most married couples the pair were giddy. Soobin carried Yeonjun inside the castle and Yeonjun couldn’t help but laugh. Soobin laughed hard as he struggled up the stairs.

“Okay you can walk from here.”

“Oh Binnie I can’t! Carry me baby.”

Soobin groaned and nodded.

“Yep I can do it.”

“Oh my strong husband, thank you. Don’t give up now Soobin, this was your idea.”

“Worst idea yet.”

“Rude!!”

The pair laughed and finally made it to their room. Soobin happily flopped onto the bed with Yeonjun in his arms. Yeonjun hugged the boy's neck and pressed soft kisses to it.

“Yeonjun.”

“Soobin.”

“I’m really happy right now. So utterly happy.”

“Me too Soobin.”

Soobin undid Yeonjun’s cape and the pair helped the other take off the many necklaces and rings. Leaving only their wedding bands on. Yeonjun sat behind Soobin and undid the pins holding his crown perfectly on, that was now hanging on from flopping them onto the bed. Once he had it off, Soobin helped him and the pair smiled with relief to not have damaged them.

“Our first night together as a married couple. It’s exciting.”

“Yeah it is Soobin. You already have stuff in the closet Bin. We’ll work on getting everything over here in the upcoming weeks.”

“Yeah I can make do and if it’s absolutely necessary I can stop by mine and pick up some stuff.”

Yeonjun nodded and turned to Soobin.

“Will you unzip me? This stupid suit is so odd why would a vest need a zip in the back?”

“No idea baby. Here, turn around.”

Soobin undid the zip and Yeonjun turned as he pulled it off.

“Help undo my buttons?”

“You’re taking advantage of helping me Soobin.”

“Maybe I am. So won’t you Jun?”

“Oh fine.”

Yeonjun held a shy smile as he helped Soobin undo his shirt buttons. The younger man pushed the shirt off and walked to the closet. He grabbed his pajamas and took them off the hanger. Once the pair had changed they sat on their bed. Soobin and Yeonjun just looked at each other with shy smiles. Soobin leaned down and kissed Yeonjun. Yeonjun kissed him back softly and ran his hands up Soobin’s arms. Soobin pushed his hair out of his eyes with one hand and squeezed his waist lightly with the other. They both stared at each other with a big smile. They were now the kings of this land and they knew that they would do just fine. They both knew it.

EPILOGUE

Yeonjun stood and gripped the phone in his hand. Rage was running through his body. The three men in front of him had their heads bowed.

“What do you mean? Explain it again!”

“Sir what happened was when ki-“

“No! Please explain to me the logic!!! Explain the logic of not speaking to me!! Huh?! Why didn’t anyone ask me?!!”

“Your injury sir. We didn’t want to disturb the healing process for you.”

“You think you haven’t now?! You think I can sit here and heal in peace while my husband is out there with no updates!!! You think I can sit back while not knowing if he’s okay and safe?!”

“Sir we are trying to get an update but it’s been unsuccessful thus far.”

“Then send someone to find them before I come out and find him myself!!! Best believe this won’t be well for you when I get there!”

Yeonjun hung up and threw the phone. He gripped the crutches and threw one at the wall after the phone. He bent down and screamed into his hands.

“Go get it!!! Get me something to wear with this stupid cast!!”

“Your highness we were ordered not to bring you.”

“I don’t care! Who ordered it! They can’t order me around there! I’m the king!!”

“King Soobin sir.”

Yeonjun looked down and took a deep breath.

“Everyone feared I would be the irrational one when we got married, but here I am!! I’m here and I can’t do anything! I will be going. I…I cannot let my husband fight this battle alone!!”

“Sir you won’t be any help with your injury.”

“I won’t be any…help. I see. Why would he…get out of my sight! Bring me my crutch!”

One of the men ran and grabbed it. He helped Yeonjun back to bed and Yeonjun watched the door close. He punched the bed and gripped his eyes closed. Lifting his hand he ran it over the cut under his eyebrow. He was so stressed. Choi Soobin was being irrational because Yeonjun got hurt. If Yeonjun hadn’t been the one leading this latest main battle he wouldn’t have gotten hurt, but because he was Soobin felt a fire under him of rage. Yeonjun calmed him, he thought, but when he was awoken tonight and informed that Soobin was leading a group out to battle without any set plans, he knew the rage had gotten to him and there was nothing he could do but wait. Soobin hadn’t been in contact with the base in hours and that’s when they finally told him. Yeonjun felt so helpless and upset. Soobin had been gone for hours and they just now told him. Why wasn’t his opinion even considered when they allowed Soobin to go? Wasn’t everything supposed to be decided between the two? They had decided everything else so far, so why did they not consult him this time? He wasn’t useful at the moment, he couldn’t do anything with how he could barely walk. He could only hope his husband was okay.

“Choi Soobin you idiot, y-you have to be okay. You promised me you’d be with me forever you better not do anything stupid.”

Yeonjun wiped his eyes and looked down. Choi Soobin had better be okay. He refused to lose his husband or lose this war. Yeonjun couldn’t just sit back because he was hurt. It wasn’t in his nature. Maybe he was just as irrational when it came to Soobin as Soobin was when it came to him. No one would dare lay a finger on his husband. He understood how Soobin felt when Yeonjun was shot in the leg now. Even without an injury reported Yeonjun felt a fire blazing inside of him. He would find Soobin himself if he had to. He would do anything for Soobin.
