Chapter Text

“We can’t both go in at the same time.”

“Why not?”

“Because I don’t wanna see this play out. I really don’t.”

“Whatever Wheeler, so what, you go in through a window or something?”

“No, what…? Why would I do that? it’s my house. You wait here for like 5 minutes, and then knock.”

“Fine.”

————————

Robin honestly can’t tell if it’s been 5, 10, 15 minutes, or an hour. Originally she counted the seconds but at some point, she lost it.

Maybe it was because she was nervous or maybe it was because she’s bad at math.

Probably because she’s nervous. Her palms are sweating more than they ever have. She wiped one hand off on her pant leg, and then switched the hand that was holding the flowers; to do the same with the other.

She stood up slowly from the ground and started approaching the door, she knocked lightly.

Nothing. Zippo. Silence. Not a trace of life.

Perhaps a bit too lightly? She knocked again, this time a bit harder.

Something. Steps. Noise. Life.

The knob turns and looks up from the ground with a nervous smile.

“Robin?” She looks down to see the flowers, then looks back up with an ear-to-ear smile.

She coughs, “I uh… they reminded me of your eyes.”

Somehow her smile enlarges and she takes them from Robin.

“Listen I-“ She starts.

With her free hand, Nancy led Robin upstairs quietly.

Robin was confused, but obedient nonetheless.

Nancy opened the door and laid her flowers down on her nightstand, then sat down on her bed.

“So… what’s happening?”

“Close the door.”

“What?”

“Please?”

Robin nods and heads to the door to close it. The door clicks and she turns back around to look at Nancy.

“At first, I thought I was losing my mind. But… now?” Nancy looks at the ground and back at Robin, “I know I’m not.” She admits.

Robin stands in disbelief silently.

Nancy starts again, “I guess I thought I was just, really happy to have met you… or something. Which I am happy we met but, you know.” She laughs nervously.

And in that moment, something in Robin’s brain sets off, “Holy shit.”

“Interesting reaction.”

“I’m sorry, I just… Didn’t expect that? Like, at all? Uhm, yeah. Me too. I mean, I feel the same way. I like you in the way that you like me, yeah. That’s why I uh…” She points at the nightstand, “Flowers.”

Nancy smiles, “Flowers.”

Robin gives a smile back and laughs at herself, “Flowers.”

“Sit down, will ‘ya? It’s off-putting that you’re still standing.” Nancy pats a spot next to her on the bed.

Robin’s face turns to red from pink as she sits down next to Nancy, “Hello, I am… next to you now.”

“You say very weird things, has anyone ever told you that?”

“Only everyone I’ve ever spoken to.”

They both stop and the silence feels awful, but neither of them has any words left to say. Robin couldn’t even muster out a sound. No words, and no breathing. Her ears start ringing and she starts to lean in because she doesn’t know what else to do.

Their lips meet and her eyes shut, this is her first kiss so she has no idea if she’s doing it ‘the right way’ but it doesn’t matter, because she is kissing Nancy Wheeler, the girl she’s been embarrassingly pining for. It’s unlike anything she could’ve imagined it’s terrifying, unreal, but somehow perfect at the same time.

Then as soon as it started, it ended.

“That-“

“That was great.” Robin's lips feel tingly and she brings a hand up to them to check if they’re still there, “I’m sorry what were you gonna say?”

“Same as you actually.”

“Really? Because… that was my first kiss.”

“Are you being serious?”

Robin nods.

“I would’ve never known if you didn’t just tell me.”

“So… I did it right then?”

“There really isn’t a way to necessarily do it right you know.”

“Really?”

“Really. You were definitely better than just ‘doing it right’ though. I’d go as far as to say I enjoyed that more than both my previous partners' first kisses.”

“Previous partners'? Does that make us…”

“Yes.”

Notes:

Since I was late, I'll give you guys a bonus chapter with Steve's reaction... it'll probably be pretty short but I thought you guys might wanna see that before I work on the next fanfic in this series (which will be byler in case you forgot: and will contain references to this since it'll be the same au.) because Steve and Robin's friendship was a good majority of the dialogue.

Again if you liked this fic please keep an eye out for my new works in this series. I don't know how soon they'll be out but I assure you they're happening.
