Chapter Text
The second Kanade's clock reads 25:00, she logs onto Nightcord. Everyone else logs in shortly afterwards. "Hello, everyone."
"Hey, K!" Mizuki's voice is the first to be heard. "You visited your dad today, right? How was that?"
Right, Mizuki knows about that. "It was fine." she answers.
"Jeez, don't ask that right away." Ena complains before quickly adding "But it's nice to hear everything's good."
Kanade waits a little before she hears a familiar and slightly muffled "... Hi." from Mafuyu. For some reason, hearing the simple two letter word never fails to make her feel warm.
"Hi, Yuki. I've been working on a song all day. I think you'll like the lyrics."
"Woah, another one? I haven't even finished the MV for our latest one." Mizuki says. "By the way, Enanan, I'm still waiting for that final piece to finish."
"Don't rush me, Amia!"
"I think we should wait to finish that one. This one is… Special." Kanade smiles even though they can't see her, converting the file she made before sending the demo to the group. She sends the lyrics she wrote along with it.
"You did this all today? This is amazing!" Ena's astonishment can be heard through the screen. "Damn, I actually already have an idea for the artwork."
Mizuki makes a sound of agreement. "You better take a break once we record this song because now I have to sing this!"
Kanade accepts the compliments, but Mafuyu's silence begins to worry her. "Yuki, do you like it?"
More silence. "... I don't know."
Ena groans. "Arrgh! Can't you ever say something besides that?"
"I don't know." Mafuyu repeats. "But… I think the melody could go down a pitch."
"I can make adjustments to it." Kanade decides, already getting to work on it. "Is there anything else you feel about it?"
"No." Mafuyu's answer is decisive, but she'll take that.
"Seriously, how did you come up with this by yourself?" Ena asks. Kanade thinks back to her time in the carnation fields, and the odd composer that was there too.
"I didn't do it alone." Kanade begins to explain. "You see…"

By the time she's finished telling the story, Ena is screaming through her mic. "You met Leo Tsukinaga!? The leader of Knights!?"
Covering her ears and wincing at the sound, Kanade mutters "Yeah." There's a muffled slam on Ena's end before it suddenly goes quiet, and Kanade assumes she muted herself. Mizuki is busy laughing to comment on it.
"Leave it to K to somehow meet someone famous and barely react to it! Can't believe you didn't ask for an autograph."
"Who needs an autograph? He gave her a song ." Ena unmutes herself. As the two dive into their usual bickering, Mafuyu speaks up.
"He rolled around in the flowers? Would doing that make it easier to write lyrics?" The sincerity of her statement makes Mizuki start laughing all over again.
"I think that's just a Leo thing, Yuki. It'd be funny to see, though!"
"I see…"
"Alright, back to the song," Mizuki sighs, getting the last of their laughing fit out of their system. "I can start doing backup vocals with your lyrics if you want."
A photo is submitted to the group chat by Ena. "I have a rough draft of one of the pieces already done!"
"I guess I can help with the melody." Mafuyu decides since lyrics aren't needed. Kanade smiles as everyone begins dividing work between themselves and urging her to take a break since she did a lot.
"Thank you, Leo."
Kanade thinks to herself as she listens to everyone.
"I hope this song will inspire you the same way your songs inspired me."
