Chapter Text
Green held onto Red as they flew. Red seemed… tense.
“Hey, are you alright?” Green all but shouted over the beat of Charizard's wings.
A nod was all he got in return.
It didn’t really ease Green’s concern, but it'd be hard for Red to give him more than a nod here anyway.
After some time the landed, a landscape of rolling hills, the sound of waves close by. The sun was hanging lazily in the sky, threatening to set soon. It was quiet here.
“Alola has so many nice, secluded spots. Kanto is all forests and cities.” Green mused. “What did you want to show me?”
Red tilted in the direction of a small tunnel in the rock.
“Oh. You didn’t bring me just to drag me into a cave, did you? Did I ever mention I dislike freakin’ caves-“
Red sighed impatiently and grabbed his hand.
“Ugh, alright, alright… I’m coming.”
Red still basically pulled him into the opening of the cave, and sped his pace up when light came pouring in from the direction they were walking.
“Arceus, Red, slow down, my legs are shorter than yours- oh, whoa.”
Green blinked, realizing they’d emerged into a huge field of bright, yellow flowers.
The pair stared for a moment, a smile creeping onto Red’s face. He didn’t drop his partner’s hand, instead starting walking a path up to a small overhang that overlooked the flowers. The pace was slower this time.
Green hummed.
“This is pretty nice. They smell amazing. Maybe we should pick some to take back to the Battle Tree.”
Red nodded, and when they reached the overhand let Green’s hand go.
“Oh Red, check it out.” Green peered over the overhang. “Never seen that Pokémon before.”
He pulled out his Pokédex (Whixh Kukui had updated) and it read ‘Oricorio, the dancing Pokémon, Pom-Pom style. This Oricorio has sipped bright yellow nectar. Its bright, cheerful dance melts the hearts of its enemies.’
“What, Red, the Pokédex says these Pokémon have different forms according to what flower nectar they eat-“
He turned around to show his partner, but ended up dropping his Pokédex in shock.
Red was on one knee, holding a small box.
Green covered his shocked mouth.
“It’s… always been you.” Red whispered, loud enough for Green to hear. “I want it… to always be you.” His face was red, hands and voice shaky.
Green rushed to him, dropping down to both knees, and wrapping his arms tightly around his lovers’ neck.
“Y-yeah. It’s always been you, too.” Green could feel tears threatening to spill over. “If you really want me, I’m yours. Let’s get married, Red.”
Red crushed Green in a hug, his own tears spilling. After a minute, he pulled the gold band out of the box and slipped it onto Green’s finger.
Green held up his hand, admiring. A thin gold wedding band, with a small ruby set down into the metal.
“Know you don’t like flashy jewelry. Ruby for…”
“Red.” Green finished his sentence with a smile, kissing his new fiancé.
“Ori! Oricorio!”
The two turned their heads to a small group of yellow bird Pokémon, who looked like they were cheering for them with their little Pom-Poms.
Green watched Red, smile plastered on his face. His partner looked much more relaxed.
