Backdraft pov
‘Well I’ll be, the kid was able to take him down. Wonder how long it took him to be able to handle that much power? He doesn't look like he is in a high school yet.’ I think in amazement as the vortex starts slow before dissipating right in front of me, depositing the pile of sludge underneath where it was. ‘And it doesn't leave a mess either! That is some quirk control there to keep the winds from dragging anything else into it. Wonder how the kid got the training, he doesn’t look like the kid of any of the wind-quirked heroes that I know.’
Taking a moment to catch my breath after the end of the fight I silently prepare myself to take care of the remaining flames from the villain while keeping in mind to speak to the kid later. However as I turned around to face one of the more intensely burning buildings, I suddenly feel something small hit my right shoulder.
Flinching slightly, I turn to look behind me to see what it was only for another to hit my right. This time I could feel slight wetness seeping into my shoulder as I suddenly look upwards to see a cluster of grey clouds start pouring out the rain in a gentle downpour. I push my hat off to get a good look at the clouds as my face gets rinsed by the slight drizzle, my facing no doubt holding surprise at another bizarre change in the weather,
“Surely the kid isn’t strong enough to change the weather entirely. I certainly didn’t see him do something.’ I think this as I look over to the kid to see him also react surprised to the sudden rainfall as well. Holding a hand out in surprise as the approaching figures of both Death Arms and Kamui Woods get near him, All Might for some reason nowhere in sight. ‘No way, now that I am feeling it this rain is the work of my beloved rain cloud. Guess they saw the fight broadcast before the public was removed for safety reasons and decided to help out with any possible fires afterward.’ With the rain now doing my job, I turn my attention over to the small meeting happening near where the kid was and walk over.
‘Hopefully, they stay out of sight, I wouldn’t want to deal with two sets of HPS reports of necessary civilian quirk usage. The kid’s report will already be a lot to handle.’ Walking over with this in mind, I vaguely see from the corner of my eye the ER agent with Slugger handling the downed villain. ‘Huh, so he does have a more solid form. That will make containment much easier…Huh?’
While noting the change in the villain, I suddenly get jarred out of my head by the shouting of Death Arms and Kamui about the kid. What I hear the Strong Arm hero say manages to ignite my ire as I turn my walk to a faster one.
“Listen, I don’t care whether or not this brat’s quirk was the only one capable of taking care of that pile of sludge. We are the pro heroes here! It's our job to take care of any villains who cause problems, not some random brat who was stupid enough to get in the way of professionals.” The man's clenched fists are shaking with barely suppressed anger as the man glares down at both my old intern and the little greenie. His angry words cause the kid to hide behind Shinji who steps forward with blazing mahogany eyes in defensive defense of the kid.
“If the public were to hear of this it could ruin all of our reps and any trust we have especially if the Hero Commission hears of this. It could cost us to have our hero licenses suspended and even our pay being half for the month. I don’t want that to be on my career profile.”
“I wouldn’t be worrying about that Death Arms, since as the first responding hero I gave the kid permission to use his quirk.”

‘Oh my god….I did not just do that. I just…took out a villain.’ My hands are trembling as I stare at the pile that was once a rather indestructible and destructive villain. This fact just causes my mind to tumble down all sorts of thoughts of different ways I can go about using my vision as a hero, only to suddenly stop as a heavy weight lands on my left shoulder.
Surprised, I look up from my hands into the eyes of Kamui Woods that seem to be giving me a once over, worry clear in his eyes. He sighs a huff of relief upon seeing no obvious injuries, ‘A bit of a lie since my ribs are throbbing rather painfully. Right where the villain had gotten a lucky hit. God, that strike was strong enough for me to feel it, that is kinda terrifying. If someone else got hit then-’ The sound of crunching gravel interrupts my thoughts as the young Wood Rescue and Capture Hero kneeled in front of me with his other hand landing comfortably on my other shoulder.
“Hey kid you okay? I know we asked a lot from you by having to help us capture this villain since normally you shouldn’t have gotten involved at all, but the circumstances had us needing to need your help.” His eyes shine with a soft kind of emotion that puts Izuku even more at ease even with how his face is painted with a serious look, his iconic mask hanging from his belt as tan-brown skin glistens with sweat. “Standard procedure usually dictates that we keep you for a bit for us to be able to get your side of the story, but I am sure that you will start to get very tired soon since today has been a rather hectic day.” He says as he looks around them at the now devastated shopping area, a grimace on his face as he takes in all the damage.
‘That is…a lot more damage done than I remember seeing. Things shouldn’t be that destroyed even with increased strength or extra time I wasn’t here for that the villain would have caused this much devastation. What happened here? Was there an entirely different villain here before or something, if so then I feel bad for the shop owners, two villain attacks in one day.’ I grimace at the sound of wood breaking as one of the smaller shopping buildings' leftover roof caves in, ‘What bad luck did they have for them to have to deal with the damages from the fights.’ I turn my attention back to the young hero in front of me as he lowers his head with a sigh and a shake before turning back towards me with an understanding look on his face.
“If you leave us your name and a number for us to call then I’m sure once Healer Shad checks you over we can let you go home and-” “Oh no you don’t!” A sudden loud voice interrupts Kamui as the heavy set steps of Death Arms suddenly is heard by us as the man walks over with a stern and angry look on his face. His hands are seemingly clenched in controlled fury as he stops just in front of us while crossing his arms at us, a look of deep disappointment on his face.
I couldn’t help but flinch slightly at his aggressive stance which then leads me to unconsciously shrink on myself at the disappointed hero. Even if the look wasn’t aimed at me specifically and even with my vision giving me more confidence, I couldn’t help but react instinctively to the aggressive actions of the large-handed hero.
‘ Clink’
“Huh? What was that noise?’ I blink in surprise as a faint sound catches my attention as I feel a hand move me back, the back of Kamui shielding me from the intimidating hero. The sounds of arguing don’t reach my ears as I suddenly feel my heart start to race in my chest. ‘Is it still an adrenaline rush? It doesn’t feel like it somehow…’
‘Clank’
‘It sounds like metal clinking together, like a chain or something.’ My body shivers as the faint sounds of chains ring for a bit as the two adults continue to argue in front of me. I instinctively go to rub my shoulders only to wince as my ribs throb in protest. ‘Guessing my ribs is more than a little bruised, god I hope I didn’t crack a rib.’
“What is going on here!?”
~~~~~Line break!!!~~~~
‘This day just keeps getting better and better huh? Now I have to deal with two arguing adults?’ I rub my head in frustration as I look at the two adults who are bickering like toddlers. ‘Well to be honest, whenever Death Arms is involved in a villain capture with the younger heroes it always ends with him ‘attempting’ to give advice.’ The angry shout that echoes from a said man makes me grimace more as I head over to the group.
“What is going on here!? What are you two arguing about at a time like this when there is still work to be done? There is a villain to finish containing and several destroyed buildings that need a thorough checking for any civilians that may have been knocked unconscious by all this.” I gesture to the now put-out burning buildings as the rain continues falling into a low drizzle, clearly my beloved having seen the job done but deciding to leave it going to hide her involvement. The two turns towards me as I said this, looking slightly culled as the little green kid behind Nishiya peeks over from having hidden himself from the arguing adults. The young man in front had taken a more firm stance for the kid, not dropping it even as I approached the trio.
‘Poor kid, I hope this doesn’t unsettle him too much with seeing heroes arguing. He looks so tense, got to get him out of this and back home or something, he looks very frazzled.’ My thoughts run fast as Death Arms looks up with a more determined look, clearly wanting to defend himself and more than likely start another argument.
“Listen Backdraft, we need to bring this kid in. He interfered with our work and-” “He did not interfere with our work,” I cut him off as I stared at him firmly, trying to get my authority across as I can see where this is going. No way am I letting the hero commission know of this kid, they’ll try to control the poor boy. “I’m the one who gave the kid permission to use his quirk to help detain the villain. I’ll write up the report so no need to involve the Commission in this.” ‘Wouldn’t want him to become another Keigo.’ I thought as Nishiya perked up at my words.
“See it's as I told you so Death Arms, Backdraft is the one who gave the kid permission. So we don’t have to worry about any trouble from the commission.” The young man says as he takes a firm stance in front of the kid, crossing his arms as he sends a smug look at Death Arms. “You can sleep easy knowing your paycheck will be the same as usual sir Pro Hero .” The cheek can be heard in his voice, causing the other to turn a very unflattering shade of red.
“Now listen here, I’m just trying to follow protocol here! The rules state that any time a civilian uses their quirk against a villain it has to be reported with said civilian going in for questioning. That way their acting isn't the start of a new vigilante, the Hero Commission would want to make sure to deter this. I’m sure All Might agrees with me, no?” The man says trying to keep his image nice with the kid by bringing up protocol and making the rest of us seem unprofessional. Looking for All Might to back him up as the Number 1 hero would surely side with him unknowing of the finch that the kid did at the mention of said Commission. Not going unnoticed by me and Nishiya, I open my mouth to say otherwise but was interrupted by someone else.
“That sort of protocol only applies if said civilian is an adult Death Arms.”The feminine voice of Mount Lady catches our attention as she walks up to stand next to Nishiya, who tenses at her sudden appearance, and crosses her arms as well in a rather unusual united front against Death Arms as said man backs up in surprise as she continues, “If it is a kid or minor then usually protocol states that they only get off with a minor warning if this is the first time this has happened. If not then a parent or guardian must be called in for any further questioning.” her voice firm as she glares up at Death Arms with her normal height but looking very much down at him for daring to sick the Commission on the kid.
“Now wait just a minute here I’m sure that All-” “All Might isn't here anymore, he just left after getting called in to help in another situation. He told me so as I ran into him on my way here. He even said to make sure the kid got home safely, not to the Hero Commission.” the female hero cuts him off even more ruthlessly and surely enough it was true. The Number One here is nowhere in sight of the destroyed shopping district.
‘Well that is unusual, why would All Might leave early? He usually sticks around to make sure everyone is safe, did he get called away?’ I couldn’t help but think as the three other heroes start to argue again, with Death Arms against Nishiya and Mt. Lady as the kid looks deep in thought. ‘Why is Mt. Lady so adamant about keeping the kid from having a meeting with the Hero Commission? I would have thought she would agree with Death Arms but….is she related to that group as well? How?’
Before I can even think more about this a loud voice cuts my thoughts and the argument to a standstill. A fear that I only felt from one person in my career courses through me as the words bring even my most stubborn colleague to a fearful silence, heck I’m sure even All Might would cower slightly at the words just shouted.
“Hey!! Anyone injured over here?”
Healer Shad pov
“Well well, would you look at that? This little fledgling is rather strong, wonder what he is doing so far down the mountain?” I say softly under my breath as I watch the wind vortex the little green chick had made finish its cycle and drop the remains of the sludge villain onto the floor. My eyes narrow as I watch a nearly transparent gas cloud emerge from the sludge pile that then flies off into the air. Figuring it was just a random effect of the man’s quirk, I wander over to examine the guy for life signs.
“Hopefully the guy is simply unconscious, else I hate to have to call in the chick’s family. That would be hard to explain to such a stubborn group, it would just be a migraine-inducing affair.” I run my hand through my slightly untangled hair from having run over and sigh before heading over to the pile of sludge as something happens. I curiously watched as the sludge man slowly turned into a ragged-dressed man, his eyes rolled back into his head in unconsciousness. Other than some minor burns and several bruises scattered all across his body along with a possible concussion the man is going to live.
‘Well, I guess the fact that he may seem invulnerable in his sludge form it seems that some of his injuries do still transfer over once his quirk gives out. I wonder what exactly would happen if he had turned back while his sludge was scattered around the place? Would he be unable to do it or would it just turn into body parts all over the place?’ I couldn’t help but think as I started to gather some energy into my palms as I examined the unconscious villain further, more hidden injuries underneath the surface ones, healing what I could in the meantime. While I do this I can hear the bits and pieces of the talking going on near the little greenie over my left as one of the other heroes approaches me.
“Hey Healer Shad, how is the guy? Not dead I hope.” A young man with slightly larger hands than a regular human one walks over to me as he holds a loose grip on a seemingly normal black baseball bat. His clothing attire designates him as the young hero Slugger, while his words are filled with a tone of worry, his eyes have a firm gaze on the knocked-out villain. Ever vigilant even when the villain is down, is a good sign of a good hero.
“No, fortunately. It seems that little greenie’s little vortex wasn’t too lethal, all things considered. It might have been due to his sludge body that he survived really, it seemed pretty durable.” I say as the last of the man’s outer wounds close up. I took out some supplies to wrap the man's torso and left arm since I could feel a couple of sprained bones and ribs deeper in.
“Well, other than a sprained arm and ribs he is good to go for transport. I don’t have any cuffs with me so go ahead and cuff him Slugger. Better bring this guy in before he wakes up I say.” I stand up and look up as a drizzle starts overhead. The feel of the rain is different from normal catching my attention. ‘Huh, an Ameonna must be nearby or something. Hopefully, it will only be brief, at least this will help with the remaining fires. Now Backdraft won’t have to wait for fellow firefighters to come and help him put out the remaining fires.’ I think as the sounds of sizzling permeate the air as the burning buildings slowly lose fire flames to the tears of a rain woman.
‘Welp all that is left is to check on the heroes around to make sure none of them are too hurt.’ I think as I turn over and walk towards the now arguing group of heroes surrounding the little fledgling Tengu. Scaring him as both Death Arms and Backdraft argue over the kid. ‘Honestly, the only thing worse than treating an injured winy kid is having to give heroes treatment. Especially when they are very hyped up on emotions. Well only one thing to it then, time to use what good old Chiyo taught me.’
I couldn’t help but smirk behind my dark gray cloud dragon scarf as I raise an arm, one of my dragon heads following my motion as the moth opens before I thrust it forwards behind Mr. Death Arms' ear. A little bit of gleeful joy rose in my chest as I tapped into a little of my mischievous nature and growled out loud, my scarf mimicking it loudly.
“HEY! Are any of you injured!?”
“So what were you able to find out? Was it the work of him?”
“No it doesn’t seem like it, the scouts found no races of any unregistered quirk activity. Not even some older ones were picked up that were from folks of the area.”
“Is that so? Are you sure that you didn't find anything useful? That storm came out of nowhere and disappeared too quickly to have been anything but the workings of a quirk. Considering how much damage was done in such a short amount of time, is there a possibility of any children in the nearby area that are in the age range to have only just awakened to their quirks?”
“Negative, all children in the immediate area of the eye of the storm all had already awakened or are too young to have done so. Any possible youngsters are all currently still in the school shelters with none of such places being anywhere near the eye of the storm…..Well, except……”
“Agent Reveal? Please finish that train of thought, any possible subjects must be brought in for questioning and ascertain their threat level.”
“.....Well, there is one possible candidate for this but it relies heavily on theory. It might not even be anything at all and I would rather not be in trouble for bringing an innocent civilian into this.”
“......Agent Reveal please inform me of what you have gathered.”
“Hmmm, it seems that even the Hero Commission has no clue over the cause of that storm.”
“Master, what are your orders?”
“......Observe for now little shadow. While they may have no clue of what caused the storm now they might find out later on. They can do the footwork for us, all we have to do is keep an eye out for when they do.”
“Understood Master.”
“I do wonder what kind of person would possess such a powerful quirk….it would certainly be an interesting thing to find out. Maybe they will be willing to join my cause…….”
“If not, I have other ways of making them useful.”
