Chapter Text
Once everyone was settled and eating their food, the silence was deafening. Yeonjun always hated silence so he decided to bite the bullet and try to start a conversation. “Where’s Hoon? I thought he was supposed to be here with his boyfriend?”
His dad swallowed the food in his mouth before looking up at Yeonjun. “His boyfriend, who is very sweet by the way, had something important come up so they’ll be here tomorrow morning.” Yeonjun nodded in understanding. “Oh, does his boyfriend live on campus or at his-”
“Soobin, what do you do for a living?” Everyone’s heads turned toward Yeonjun’s mother. Soobin could see him grit his teeth in annoyance as he was interrupted, but paid no mind to it and took a bite of his food.
Soobin nervously put down his fork. “I'm still in school ma’am.”
“What do you want to do then?” Her voice was sharp and steady, her gaze never faltering from Soobin. “I um- I want to open up a bakery soon after university after I finish my training.”
Her eyes squinted. “What training? Don’t you learn enough from school?” Soobin tried his best to keep eye contact with her but she was honestly freaking him out. “I got an internship for 2 years with Lee Seungmi.”
Soobin heard a gasp from across from him. “Lee Seungmi? As in triple Michelin star baker Lee Seungmi?!” Soobin nodded sheepishly, “Yes. I applied for a program with her and was one of the three out of thousands of participants chosen.” Yeonjun’s dad sat back in awe, Soobins gaze turning back to Yeonjun’s mom. She was no longer looking at him with hostility, it turned into a more relaxed stare. She still wasn’t relaxed, but it wasn’t as scary as before. “Hm, that’s remarkable. You must be very talented.”
Soobin’s gaze was too focused on Yeonjun’s mother, not seeing the man beside him bitterly shove his fork in his food.
“Thank you so much! It was a lot of work to be considered but I was glad I applied, she is one of my favourite bakers so I was ecstatic when I was picked.” She nodded approvingly. “I'm sure you were, it is an honour.” She gave him a very small smile, surprising everybody at the table. “You’re going to have a successful and stable job when you’re older, I’m proud to call you my future son-in-law.”
A loud screech of a chair was quickly heard, followed by a sharp smile. “I'm tired, goodnight.” Soobin quickly looked at the time and then back at Yeonjun. “What? You haven’t finished eating and it's barely 7 o'clock.”
He completely ignores Soobin’s stare all the way up to his room, angrily shutting the door behind him.
After a beat of silence, Soobin awkwardly turns around with an uneasy look on his face. “I’m sorry. I don't know why he stormed out like that.” Yeonjun’s dad looked up the stairs with a sigh, “You can go ahead and check on him.” His mother huffed. “I guess that's best, you need to snap him out of that terrible mood. I don’t know why he’s always like that, he’s exhausting.” As much as that comment irked Soobin, he decided to let it go and rushed up toward Yeonjun’s room.
Once Soobin made it to his room, he knocked softly on the door. “Can I come in?”
Shuffling on the other side was quickly heard. “Whatever.”
He took that as a yes, opening and closing the door softly behind him. His eyes searched the room until he found Yeonjun under his blankets all cuddled up. Even though his face was opposite the door, Soobin could already see the upset look he had on his face. “Are you okay?”
The silence that followed answered Soobin’s question. He let out a small sigh, walking over to the bed. “Move over.” Yeonjun groaned. “Why.”
“I want to get under the covers too.” Yeonjun wordlessly moved over, letting Soobin under the blankets. “Come here,” Soobin opened his arms wide, “Beomgyu said you loved hugs.” Yeonjun slowly turned his head and stared at Soobin before gradually making his way into Soobin’s arms. As Yeonjun’s head made its way onto Soobin’s chest, his arms circled comfortably around Yeonjun’s waist.
Soobin’s free hand went up to the crown of Yeonjun’s head, delicately running his fingers through his hair. Yeonjun’s tension seemed to slowly dissipate as he melted further into Soobin.
“Sorry.” Soobin didn’t quite get what Yeonjun said as his voice was muffled against Soobin’s shirt. “What?” Yeonjun slightly shifted in his hold. “I said I'm sorry. I shouldn't have stormed out like that.” Soobin’s hand momentarily stilled. “Sorry? Please don’t apologize, you did nothing wrong.”
“I was being stupid by getting jealous of you and my mother. She seemed so happy that you were going to have such a successful career, clearly hinting at her failure of a son.” Yeonjun’s voice suddenly dimmed as he fumbled with the bottom of Soobin’s shirt. “She seemed like she was more proud of you than she ever was of me.”
As Yeonjun’s eyes started to gloss over Soobin hugged him even tighter. “Love, please don’t cry.” Yeonjun wordlessly hugged him back even together. “You’re not a failure and the fact that she doesn't see how amazing you are is her own fault. You have me, your brothers and your friends who are beyond proud of you, I'll say it every day if I have to.” Yeonjun lightly hit Soobin’s arm. “Shut up. You’re too cheesy.”
A small smile graced Yeonjuns face, immediately putting a smile on Soobin’s face. “Mhm, but you love it.” Yeonjun rolled his eyes, turning slightly so he could see the tv, but still remained in Soobin’s hold. “Can we watch a movie?”
Soobin slightly adjusted himself so he could see the tv better. “Sure, which one?” Soobin grabbed the remote from Yeonjun’s bedside and started scrolling through disney plus. “I’ve never seen coco, can we watch that?”
“No. Absolutely not.” Yeonjun’s eyebrows furrowed. “Why? Is it a bad movie?” Soobin quickly shook his head, now clicking on the disney princess movie collection. “No, it's actually too good. So good that it makes me cry and I don’t want to cry right now.” Yeonjun laughed softly but didn't question it. “Tangled then?”
----------
Yeonjun is woken up to the faint sound of people chatting at the door. He groggily checks the time, realizing that it must be his brother and his new boyfriend. He tries to get up to go to the bathroom but is stopped by a weight on his waist. He turns slightly to see a passed-out Soobin cuddling up to him.
He lets out a faint chuckle as his face, poking his cheek. “Hey, my brother is here, we have to get up.” Soobin groans cuddling further into Yeonjun. “You’re warm.” An annoyed (but endeared), smile made its way onto his face. “No, we have to get up. After we say hi we can come back here and cuddle all you want.” Soobin let go of Yeonjun with a huff, sitting up on the bed. Yeonjun sighed, walking around to Soobin’s side of the bed, and pulling him up to stand.
He started fixing the stray hairs on Soobin’s head so he looked somewhat presentable. “Snap out of the sleepy mood and come with me, I can’t have my brother thinking I'm dating a zombie.
Yeonjun grabs Soobin’s hand, pulling him out the bedroom door. As they exit they can see a glimpse of Sunghoon and his boyfriend, putting a smile on Yeonjuns face, but a look of terror on Soobin’s. “Fuck fuck fuck” Soobin started hitting Yeonjun’s arm in a panic. “What? Why are you hitting me-”
“That's my brother! Why is he here? And who the fuck is he with?” Yeonjun looked over to where he was pointing and his face paled. “The person he is with is my brother.”
