Chapter Text
The eyelids of our protagonist slowly opened, every little bit of light would only make her close them again. Somehow it was safer in the darkness than to reach out for the light.
There had to be a reason for why they felt this way, by whatever had caused the darkness to encroach on her position, something which was spreading as long as they remained alive.
Deafening silence rang out as they tried to do something aside from moving their eyelids. Arms or legs which had changed ever since the day which- they were supposed to escape and destroy it, yet she still lived.
Why?
Her defenses had been lowered when she had understood how bad what she was doing was. They had done right by her and so in turn so did she. Yet this wasn't where she was supposed to be.
Her bed was where she was supposed to be. They had promised her success, the power of friendship, which she had taken as an oath of their support for her and her mistakes. Yet the darkness remained instead of the light.
Her clothing felt as if it was heavier, some more protection or more layers and the weight was making her feel as if falling. But she was still held by some force. If she ever managed to open her eyes she would rage against her strings.
Color invaded the edges of the darkness which she seemed to be some sort of force which she was very much interested in as the first source of light which didn’t make her want to close her eyes at the littlest nudging of her eyes.
Azure light rolled in as she prepared to open her eyes and see the realm which she had left ever since the lack of information for whatever happened to them in the end. Nothing was supposed to stop the rescue.
As the three of them used the new material to create a tie like their leader they did have to wonder what it was that she had been exposed to, why use her to try and convince them of their priorities? At least she believed them.
Yang wouldn’t admit much was good about this kidnapping but she would admit one thing, “These capes? So much cooler than anything from Beacon.” She continued to try and complete the look of the girls.
“Yes, but why is Ruby’s white?” Blake, who had finished before her own tie went to help the two of them, it just seemed easy enough to follow from Ruby’s demonstration. Her two teammates were hopeless.
Was it more embarrassing to try and fail horribly or just stand there and try to become a fly on the wall? Because she had no clue how to do something like this. “And why can’t I get something like that?” She stared at Ruby standing in front of a mirror.
She never thought she would be jealous of a bow, it certainly showed some kind of development. What kind will be left for you to decide on. No matter her character development Weiss was more envious than she should be.
Ruby watched Blake fiddle with both of their capes, seems she had the best experience with being a quick learner. She continued to marvel in the clothes which she had been given for her new experiences.
She couldn't have imagined being this much of a fish out of water but she had found the right person to help her, especially with things she couldn't understand. That was an uncomfortable experience.
Like who could have imagined that she could shoot lasers out of her eyes? That bit of information still made her brain hurt whenever she tried to think about it.
"So are you ready, team?" She exclaimed as she took in the looks of her team, honestly the silver capes were a nice choice. Despite the lack of knowledge of where it came from.
"Always." She said with a serious nod.
"Don't be so serious, no one's expecting a fight." Although she was still reaching for her katana.
"Ruby, lead onward." She happily did as asked.
Ok. She totally understood why her sister rocked the cape look. She was totally feeling much more confident with just a piece of clothing. Yang was going to rock the look until she lost it.
With how she fought it would only be a matter of time until the thing was lost in some scuffles but who knew when the next opportunity happened?
"So, sis, where are we going next?" She wouldn't say anything but offer a turn of her lips as she walked them towards the insides of a room.
It had a red theme occurring with it but that was to be expected from the capes all those students wore. She couldn't believe her loss to some school kids.
Yang followed like a good sister as Ruby commanded them all to stand near one another, her little sister afraid of attention and here she was being a more assertive person.
She would've shed a tear at her growth if she hadn't just seen Ruby cause red light to engulf them all. She was shocked just as the others were. But she had to believe just as she always had.
Perhaps she would just need a second opinion when the three of them had the chance to talk away from Ruby. It hurt her just to think something negative.
Opening her eyes she saw something much more familiar than anything from the building she had been in.
"Blake, are you seeing this? There wasn't a way in which she couldn't.
The room had the same inside as the old one save for some small differences as things like the order of which they were placed was different than before. Her ears twitched at that thought.
If she died the first thing she would miss was probably going to be the booms which were now right in front of her holding up that bed just like it had before.
"Ruby, how did you make this?" She could only laugh at the suggestion. "Oh I just had some friends help with the construction." They weren't miracle workers in much aside from fighting.
'Sice! We need to make clean cuts, don't use your scythe!' Good times were had by all.
Surely she had more to the story than what she said but Blake only cared about being back on familiar ground, even if it might not be exactly the same.
Smells and such were the same. Did this mean they even had, it?
She ignored everything else in favor of finding out the burning question on her mind. What about the window? It had the curtains and everything, surely they could spring for a window.
"And that is how we found out about the rumors spreading." Weiss grumbled as she took in the news.
It was only coincidence that the last possible choice to pretend to be of her family had to be this wild woman described by Ruby, why couldn't it have been the other one. She seemed prepared for the stuffiness of high society.
Something which no one should ever have to deal with unless you like to suffer and be embarrassed in public.
"Well, I still can't get her to be nice but she at least tolerates me." The curtain was pushed to the side as they continued to talk.
"Oh, the window? Well none of us understood how to make a window." Yes they could make a nice house if they lived in the countryside.
"What to know the real reason I was allowed to come and get you myself?" She knew they were hooked the second she mentioned an actual reason.
They were totally lax in the face of her putting on a nice spin to it. She smirked, what a bunch of suckers.
"Ok, have fun, forgive me after you survive the blood pools!"
She watched them cry out as she was transported to where the class was waiting for her. At least she would be paid in some very good strawberries from that garden. The flute music mellowed her out.
"Do we know if the pools are actually blood?" From here it could go either way, "well, we couldn't find out as there was a barrier and the reavers do that intangible trick." Oh, here they go now.
"Alright, taking all bets, queen what are the odds?" The speedy one said as she tried to get everyone else involved.
She pushed up her glasses as she spoke from memory about the calculations. "Yang Xiao Long, -300, Weiss Schnee, -100, Blake Belladonna, +400. That concludes the information begin betting."
To be somewhat fair she would stay out of it while tallying the results of the pool and making the payments as required. Good luck to anyone expecting to make money on Blake.
Her little specks would have to find the opportunity to live longer than she had with the unfortunate limiter placed on her. Although it had wonders after constantly dodging for her life.
The giant monsters slowly walked and the girls tried their hardest to damage it while keeping out of range of the swords which would be the instruments of their destruction.
The ninja-like girl used her semblance to try and confuse the things but they kept on following her despite how much she tried to confuse. No good, only usable as a last result.
If there was a lot of force generated by her gauntlets then she would use them to engage in the worlds worst circle as she flew from one side to another meanwhile trying to avoid the other girls.
Flying back and forward was a good distraction as long as she managed to get right in the range where they would become intangible once again. One smack and she would be screwed.
Schnees made it despite the adversity and right now no one was proving this more than Weiss as she used the glyphs as the motions toppers they were for the moment as nothing could truly stop them in the end.
Well nothing of the world of the four girls as these things had immortality through that technique only they could do.
Who was she?
Why had she nothing but the feeling of the blue light and being strung up like a puppet? When she was her own person?
Where was the knight in shining armor that was supposed to stop it all from continuing to suffer? They couldn't fail, she wouldn't have trusted them if there was a chance of failure.
All along the light continued to entice her to break away from the prison which she found herself in, if only she could remember why it was that she was in.
Even if they had failed she should be dead instead of inside something else. She was sure of the rules of failure, how could she still be alive when they had failed?
The feeling of fading away was inside of herself and yet she felt happy at this revelation. Her ending had been taken from her.
A crack rang out to her ears as she began to have her eyes opened not of her own will. It seemed whatever it wanted her to do was about to begin. The snow never felt more cold.
"Are you sure this is the right place?" She looked down to the ground of Mantle as Ruby led them to the sight only she could see.
"Yup, just watch." She pulled out her scythe and swung it at the ground, although she did wonder about the point of the mission she understood how serious they took them. Everything was a mission.
Asking for help? Mission. Love advice? Mission. Item procurement? Mission and so on.
"Now make sure you jump." She demonstrated and they quickly followed to avoid the nightmare fall that the last one was.
With the wind in her hair she couldn't feel any better about this mission as she stared off into the horizon where it was waiting for them. The crystal would be theirs.
The first thing she did was throw up before picking up the weapon scattered before her as she did so she noticed the world glow red, a sign of something to come perhaps.
All she did know was that she had to escape the nightmare, no matter what it took she would make up for her mistakes and solve the mystery of the disappearance of her friends.
She launched herself with just the flick of her fingers.
