Chapter Text
That night Joyce and Hopper made supper for them and the kids. The kids got home a little later after going to the arcade for about an hour. Jonathan ended up going to Nancy’s after dropping El and Will off at home.
After Will and El both changed into some comfy clothes, they made their plates and sat down at the table. Joyce made her plate next and Hopper made his plate last after washing his hands.
While they were eating they talked about school, work, and other stuff like new movies. Hopper And Joyce had decided to wait until till the first official doctors visit to tell the kids about the pregnancy.
After eating they talked a little more before Joyce left the table to go to the bathroom. After about five minutes Hopper went to check on Joyce knowing what happened. El and Will both looked at each other at little confused but continued to talk.
When Hopper got to the bathroom door he knocked gently. “I’m fine” Joyce said quickly. “Joy, let me in, it’s Hop” he whispered through the door. “Oh” and she let him in quickly and quietly.
“Did you get nauseous again? You okay?”
“Yeah, but really I’m okay” she responded back. “You sure?” Hop questioned. “Yes, I’m fine I promise”. “Ok but-“ “stop I’m fine go back to the table, I’m gonna brush my teeth and then come back” he smiled back at her and left the bathroom.
“She okay?” Will asked as he went to put his plate in the sink. “Yeah she just ran out of toilet paper” Hop responded completely lying. “Oh okay” Will responded. “Can we go watch a movie on wills tv in his room?” El asked nervously. Hopper and Joyce had gotten Will and El their own tv for Christmas with Hopper’s little “we’re sorry” check from the government. “Yeah, what are y’all watching?” He asked unprepared for what they would say.
“Red Dawn” El replied looking down. “WHAT” hop yelled shocked. He hadn’t meant to yell but it was shocking. Joyce ran into the kitchen worried “what’s wrong?!?!” “They want to watch Red Dawn!”.
Joyce just stood and started laughing to herself “So?” “Joyce their 15 what do you mean so they’re too young” “Hop they’re 15” “yeah but-“ “but nothing, y’all can watch it we’ll be in kitchen or our bedroom if you need something” Joyce stopped Hopper.
El and Will both smiled big and ran to his room.
Joyce began doing the dishes while Hopper picked up in the dining room. Suddenly she felt strong arms come around her waist and quiet but manly voice in her ear. “Our bedroom, huh?” Jim said seductively. “Yes, our bedroom” Joyce flirted back. She wiped her hands and turned around to face him. He kissed her softly but passionately at the same time too. She smiled into the kiss and pulled away. “I think we can finish the dishes tomorrow?” She said and smiled again. “Yeah, and they will be done quicker cause we won’t be so *tired*” he winked. With that he picked her up and placed her on the kitchen counter. “Omg Hopper, you’re crazy!” She laughed. He quickly put his hand over her mouth reminding her that they weren’t the only ones here. “Shhhh” he laughed and kissed her and wrapped his arms around her waist once. She happily kissed back and gingerly wrapped her arms her neck.
“You want some popcorn?” El asked “sure” Will replied. El entered the kitchen not expecting what she saw. (She kinda was but not actually ifykyk;)
Hop and Joyce were still kissing when El had made an appearance. Completely unaware she was in there with them, Hop began to move down to Joyce’s neck. Joyce happened to open her eyes over Hopper’s shoulder. Joyce whispered “hop stop- right now” “ wha- why” hop said disappointed.
Hopper gasped loudly when he turned around. “Um- uh, hey El, whatcha ya need?” He said with a nervous laugh. Joyce had completely lost it, with her head in her hands laughing her ass off. “Popcorn” El said blankly while eyeing them disgustingly.
El walked over to the pantry, pulled out the popcorn, threw it in the microwave and sat quietly at the kitchen table looking at Joyce and hopper. Joyce and Hopper shared looks, so did El and Joyce, and El and Hopper.
The whole 3 minutes seemed to last an eternity. The popping of the popcorn should’ve made it a little less awkward but it made it a whole lot more weird.
When the microwave beeped, El got up, walked to the microwave, and began to talk. “Im not gonna say a word and you don’t have to say anything either, just go to your room or something” El said bluntly and left the kitchen.
Joyce and Hopper both shared a look of shock before dying laughing. “I feel like I just got caught by my mom again” Hopper whispered. “Why don’t we go to our room” Joyce asked flirtatiously. Hopper helped her down off the counter and held her hand while walking towards their bedroom.
Joyce walked in the bedroom first and hopper shut the bedroom door behind them. She heard a click before feeling two strong arms wrap around her from behind and a pair of lips kiss her neck. She hummed gently and turned around to face Hop. Without saying anything they both were think the same thing.
God, I love her so much.
God, l love him so much.
Her brown eyes looking into his blue eyes full of wonder. He leaned down slowly and kissed her softly. She kissed back and wrapped her arms around his neck.
When they finally pulled apart she rested her hands on his chest. “I need a shower, I feel nasty” she said smiling hopeful he would catch the hint. “You do stink a little bit” he said back laughing. “Hop, I know you did not just say that” “I did” and before she could say anything he kissed her again. She felt him smile against his lips and knew he was joking.
She pulled back and went to the bathroom in her bedroom. He followed her and turned the shower on. She started getting undressed when came up behind and started helping her undo her bra. She turned around and started pulling off his undershirt from that day.
When they were undressed they got in the shower. Joyce got in first with Hop behind her with his arms wrapped around her waist. She loved that so much because it made her feel safe and he knew.
He grabbed the shampoo and began to wash her hair. He massaged her scalp with her head and shoulders as she said she would rather have no dandruff then smell good hair and he thought that was smart as hell. After he was done he pushed her a little into water and washed her hair free of soap. He started on conditioner next when she showed him how conditioner only goes on the ends of the hair to keep it smooth and healthy not brittle and weak. He ran his fingers slowly through the ends of her hair undoing all of the little tangles. He washed the conditioner out after no more tangles were left.
She turned around and asked him to bend a little so she could wash hair. He laughed a bit and did exactly what she said. Even though he legs burned after a little while he stayed just like that because he loved her and loved she wanted please him.
After washing his hair she began to run soapy hands over his body. He turned around so she could get his back. Her eyes filled with tears seeing the scars from Russia and she started silently crying thinking about what they did to him, crying silently was something she perfected while being married to Lonnie.
She kissed each scar with love. Hopper turned around after she was done and saw her tear stained face. “Shhh” he pulled her in close and wrapped his arms around her tiny body. She sobbed into chest while trying to stay quiet to not worry the kids.
After just standing there for while the water started to get cold and they got out quickly after that. They helped each other dry off and get dressed into sleeping clothes.
She got into bed while waiting on hopper and put her hand on her stomach and started singing to her baby. “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey, you’ll never dear how much I love you, so please don’t take my sunshine away…”.
Hopper stood in the bathroom and listened to Joyce with a goofy grin on his face. Hopper waled out of the bathroom and laid down beside Joyce.
Joyce was sitting up when hopper rolled closer to her and laid his head on her stomach and traced circles with his finger. He started humming the tune after a while and Joyce quietly gasped.
“Do you think it’s a boy or girl hop” Joyce asked breaking the silence. “a girl” Hop responded quickly. “Really?” “Yeah, I just have a feeling” “oh” Joyce said shocked.
“What names do you like?” Hopper asked. “Well I always told myself if I had a girl I would name her Delaney-Jo and call her DJ or maybe Caroline like the song” she said. “I like Caroline, that was my mothers middle name” hop responded. “Oh really?” She asked “yeah what would the middle name be though?” Hop asked Joyce. “Elise” Joyce stated. “I like that a lot” Hop answered. “What about a boy?” Joyce questioned. “We’re not having a boy Joyce, I know it.” Hopper said plain as day. “Ok but-“ “we’re not, I promise” Hopper said again.
“Let’s go to bed hop” Joyce said while yawning and rolled over to turn off her lamp. She rolled onto her side and with Hop behind her. He put his arm around her waist, she gripped his hand and laced her fingers with his. “I love you” he said quietly. “I love you too” she said even quieter. They fell asleep not shortly after that in each others embrace.
