Chapter Text
Nancy decided to go to her secret spot near Lovers Lake to let her mind be at ease. No school, no yelling children, no parents. At least, she had thought it was her secret spot. That was until she heard a rustle in the woods nearby.
She stood up, and cautiously moved toward the sound. She nearly screamed when Robin ran into her, resulting in her falling to the ground. Robin held her hand out to help Nancy up, which the latter refuses. She mumbled under her breath, "I can lift myself up off the ground, thanks." Robin laughed at Nancy's faux anger.
With little else to do, Robin decided to follow Nancy back to her spot. Either Nancy was ignoring her or didn't know she was following her, or she decided that Robin could stay without actually saying it. When Nancy sat back down in her spot, she patted the area next to her. Robin complied, groaning as she slowly (and painfully, according to her) sat down.
"There's no way that hurt," Nancy scoffed. Robin dramatically gasped, clutching her heart. Her cheeks were a bit flushed, Nancy noticed, either from embarrassment or the close distance between the two. Or both. "Actually, it did," Robin stated matter-of-factly.
Nancy glanced over at her, raising an eyebrow. "Really? I know something that hurts a bit more than sitting down like that." Robin perked up at this, obviously curious. I can't believe I'm doing this- Nancy was panicking internally, but she didn't let it show. Nancy moved her hand to hold on to Robin's hand. She knew Robin was watching intently, she could feel her gaze burning holes into her skin. Then, Nancy took a small amount of skin and pinched it.
"Ow!" Robin yanked her hand back, shaking it wildly as she lifted it to her mouth. "See? Told you." Nancy beamed at Robin. She heard the taller girl let out a small laugh. "Nancy Wheeler, did you just pinch me?" Robin raised her eyebrows. "Maybe I did. What are you gonna do about it?" Nancy leaned forward, as if daring Robin to do something. Robin's face got impossibly hotter, but she didn't pay any mind to it.
"This!"
Suddenly, Robin was tickling Nancy with no mercy. Through multiple gasps and laughs, Nancy managed to say stop. Robin laughed and said, "Alright, I give in." 'Give in.' Not 'give up.' Stop that, you're reading into it too much. She didn't mean anything by it.
Robin had a genuine smile spread out across her face. The smile was absolutely infectious to Nancy, who was burning under her blushing face. They stayed smiling at each other for a few more moments in a comfortable silence. Nancy looked to the ground, then back up at Robin. She murmured a "fuck it" that was barely audible, then she said something she never thought she'd have the courage to say out loud.
"Robin, can I kiss you?"
It went silent for a few minutes. Nancy was panicking, fearing the rejection she knew was coming. Why had she been so bold?
Instead, Robin didn't back away. She was tripping over her words in surprise. "What? I- I mean, yeah. Uhm, of course. Only if you're comfortable with it. Unless you're messing with me? Are you messing with me? If so, that is not cool. Oh my god, is this really happening?" Nancy shook her head, smiling gently. "Robin. I promise that I'm not messing with you. This is really happening."

A quiet "oh" was all she could get out of her mouth. Robin's brain was fuzzy. Nancy Wheeler wanted to kiss her. Holy shit. The look on Nancy's face slowly dropped, and Robin quickly threw her hands up, waving them in front of her. "I didn't mean that as a bad thing!" She slumped back down against the ground. "I... I don't mind if you kiss me."
Nancy smiled. That smile was so intoxicating for Robin. Nancy moved in close before pausing. "Just checking. Are you okay with this?" Robin nodded vigorously, nearly combusting with the Nancy Wheeler moving in to kiss her. Nancy didn't waste any time closing the gap between the two. It was a short kiss, but soft and gentle. Robin felt like she was on Cloud 9.
"Holy shit. Nancy fucking Wheeler just kissed me."
