Chapter 2: innocence died screaming

Summary:

Remus is confused.
Sirius is having a crisis
Remus is also having a crisis!

Notes:

so i got me mate to read my first chapter and he actually liked it, and for some reason it kind of made me wanna write more!
so yeah
chapters are still super short because I don't have the mental capacity to write a whole 10k words at once but its fineeeee

anyway yeah more Remus being sad ( I feel bad for the guy he's really got it rough) and Sirius being... extremely unhelpful!

Chapter Text

When Remus finally woke, he was met with the dark, anxiety riddled eyes of one Mr black surveying him. In any other situation, this wouldn't be a bad way to wake up, but at this moment, Remus was confused, in searing pain all over his body, and very cold, so you can understand why he didn't quite appreciate this view as much as most would.

'Who the fuck are you??' he exclaims, an immediate accusatory tone taking over his voice

At that, Sirius just cringes, and uncomfortably offers up his name
'Sirius, Sirius black?..'

Did that help Remus ? no not at all. He still didn't know *who* he was. where the fuck he was, and why he was -

oh.
oh fuck
oh and it came rushing back
a cliff
a man
and a fucking branch.
Remus can feel the instantaneous effects of this realisation as his breathing quickened, he all of a sudden got unpleasantly sweaty, and his heartbeat was…. Not there

oh wait no that still doesn't explain why he was-

'I'm so sorry I don't think you understand how sorry I am but you were lying there and you were going to die. And I just- I don't know, okay?? Any other human i probably would have ignored but you were just- god i really don't know. There was just no other option!’

what the fuck was this Sirius black on about? any other human? How big was this guy's ego???

Sirius could hardly get his words out, instead becoming a stuttering, stumbling mess, desperately trying to explain why he did what he did and how he really didn't mean to!!!
How could he even begin to explain this, it's not like 'planet earth' has a dedicated episode on ‘vampirism and their habitats’. It doesn't help the matter that Sirius is already a bit of a mess, and is basically just a walking lump of verbal diarrhoea.

Except Remus still has no idea what it was that he actually did.

'What are you about?? What are you apologising for?!! i- I don't understand. I fell. I know I fell. I remember exactly how it felt hitting that water. How it felt to be completely engulfed by water and thrown back and forth by freezing, unrelenting waves .I know how it felt to die Sirius. People who know how that feels shouldn't be around to retell it. I shouldn't be alive! And so help me god Sirius black, if you don't explain how the fuck I still am, then I swear on my mothers grave you will find yourself straight in that water.

(bit late for that though Sirius has already had his swim!)

'i- okay, there is no way to explain this without seeming completely and utterly out of my mind. so I'm just gonna give it to you straight . I'm a vampire , eternally plaguing the earth etcetera etcetera, and you tripped! So i uh fished you out the water , which was definitely no small feat by the way, and uh- I ... bit you?...'

oh what the fuck man.

He has got to be fucking about right now, I'm sorry but he bit him? What kind of Shane Dawson conspiracy theory shit is that?? Vampires?? Remus was unimaginably bewildered, and his breathing somehow further quickened, and by this point he was no longer 70% water, because he had likely sweated it all out! And his heartbeat! His heartbeat was…
His heart beat still wasn't there.

As reality kicked in, Remus began to think that this must not be some juvenile web of lies. If Sirius was really a vampire, and he had bit him, that could only mean that he was too.

Remus lupin… was a bloody vampire?

It hit him like a ton of bricks, the aching in his neck that was yet to subside, the initial cold he had felt, his lack of heartbeat. He was dead. He was everything he wanted to be since he was 16 years old. He was dead but he wasn't. Like some sick fucking joke. Was it? All some elaborate scheme at the hands of god? He had done wrong by even thinking about killing himself, and now the heavens are going to make damn sure he will never forget it, Because what he initially dreaded to be a possible 60-70 more years of being on this earth, had quickly turned into a soul sucking eternity of a life he quite literally wasn't living. People say that if at first you don't succeed, try again, but for Remus that option would never arise.

Understandably so, Remus’ first reaction was that of anger. Sirius had no right to do that. He had NO RIGHT to sign Remus up for a lifetime subscription to immortality for fucks sake!

But when he attempted to voice this his anger only came out in the form of guttural sobs, so broken and fueled with pain, it was enough to make the hearts of the dead beat again.
And It was enough to make Sirius’ cold, long dead heart stop all over again.

Sirius knew that his actions would have consequences, shit he knew that better than almost anyone, but to have the consequences laid out raw and plain in front of him in the form of a beautiful, pain wreaked boy was entirely too much.
He didn’t want this, hell he didn't even know who this boy really was . in that moment he just… he knew he needed him? God does that sound weird? I mean he may be a vampire but this isn't fucking twilight man! (Sirius really hates that film). It may have been for selfish reasons, but at the end of the day he did a good thing. He saved him. Didn't he?

As Sirius just stood there gawking at him, Remus only became more distressed, more angry by the fact that this man had single handedly destroyed him, and had the nerve to stand there like that without even muttering a single word. He'd turned him into a vampire for fucks sake? Something he thought to be nothing more than a stupid myth made up by simple minded people who came before him! How could he not see the damage he's done? He couldn't even begin to understand how this feels. To understand how it feels to know that no matter how much he begs and pleads to be released, he will forever be this undoubtedly flawed boy left stranded on this undoubtedly flawed planet. And you know what? That really pissed him off.

Notes:

now that wasn't to difficult was it! ( totally not talking to myself)
I might post another chapter if anybody cares enough yk.
