Chapter Text
Tommy woke up with a headache. His whole body was sore as if he hadn’t moved for thousand years. His mind was foggy and he couldn’t think clearly. He opened his eyes and shut them instantly as they couldn’t handle the light that was coming from the windows. Where was he? He opened his eyes again, but slowly this time. He was laying in a room not too big on a comfortable bed. There was a little nightstand next to him with a small light. Across the room was a closet and a mirror facing his bed. He sat up and looked at the mirror. There was a pale young boy with blue shiny eyes. He had Curly, blond almost golden hair and two small horns poking out of it. That must be him. He rubbed his eyes and laid down again. What had happened? Out of nowhere a memory started to form.
He was Theseus, God of chaos and freedom. While he couldn’t remember a lot, he knew that something bad had happened. His mind felt light-headed, so he closed his eyes again. It didn’t take long to fall back asleep.
He wakes up again. This time he is not alone. Someone is sitting next to him and pressing his fingers on his palm. Tommy’s eyes widened and he pulls his arm away. A man, in his twenties is sitting next to him. He has deep brown eyes and ginger hair. Two foxy ears stuck out of his head and he looked kind of curious. “Hello Tommy!” he said while looking a bit worried. Tommy sat up. Why was this man here?! Why was he holding his hand? Palm? “Who are you and how do you know my name?!” A smile grew on the mans face as he held out his hand.
“My name is Fundy. Nice to meet you!” Tommy shook his hand and look confused to the notepad in ‘Fundy’s’ hand. Fundy noticed it and put it in his bag. “Don’t worry about it, I was just checking on you and noting it down. Should I get Jinx for you?” He stood up. “Jinx?” Tommy questioned. He hadn’t heard that name before. Who were these people?
“I’ll be right back, I am sure Jinx can explain more. Wait here.” Fundy went out and left the door open. Should he follow him? Maybe he should just try and escape. Wil must be worried. Wait, Wil? Oh yeah…. They had a fight. He is still probably angry. What was this fight about again? Tommy couldn’t remember.
Not even two minutes later a man came in. “Charlie, don’t let anyone in. Stay in front of the door.” He said and closed the door. He turned around. He looked familiar in a way that Tommy couldn’t place. The man smiled. “How are you feeling? What had happened? Where were you all this time?” he started questioning. “Who are you and how do you know me? Where am I?” He questioned back. The man sat down on the stool, Fundy had sat before. His hand reached to his mask and pulled it off.
Behind it was a well-known face. Someone he hadn’t seen for a while. But there was something different about him. There was a huge scar trough his eye and he looked almost…. Older? “Quackity? What has happened to your face?” Quackity looked a bit sad but moved on quickly. “That isn’t important for now. What important is, is the fact that you disappeared for centuries before two of my… friends found you.” Tommy freezed and stared with wide eyes, raising his eyebrows. “W-what do you mean, I was gone for centuries?”
“You tell me. Do you remember anything?” Tommy shook his head. His memory was kind of foggy. What had happened? He remembered getting into a fight with Wil and then……. He went to Dream. The last memory he had was Dreams face. But he wouldn’t do anything to him, right? Dream was his friend. Dream has always been kind to him, like a 3rd brother.
“The last memory I had was about a fight with Wil. But I Can’t remember the reason.” Quackity nodded understanding. “How are you feeling? My friends said that you were stuck in some sort of crystal. Probably for all those years.” Tommy didn’t know. He definitely felt tired and sore, but nothing really more. “I feel fine, just a bit weak.” “Do you feel like standing up? Or do you wanna sleep a bit more?” Tommy shook his head. More sleep? He already had more than enough. “I wanna get out of this bed, thanks.” Quackity put his mask back and helped Tommy to get out of bed. He stood up, but immediately felt like he would fall down the moment he took his first step. “Just hold my hand.” Quackity said gently. Tommy grabbed his hand as if his life depends on it and stepped forward. “Not a word of this, to anybody.” Quackity chuckled. “Of course Tommy.” He reached for the door but stopped before he pulled the knop down. “Don’t call me Quackity when we’re not alone. Call me Jinx.”
“What kind of name is Jinx?! It sounds stupid! But anything for you, big-Q” He smiled as he opened the door. “WELCOME TO LAS NEVADAS!”
There was a big hallway made of marble walls. A long red carpet was laid out through the whole hall. There was another man standing. He had blue-green eyes and green slimy….. hair? He wore neat trousers, a blouse with a tie and suspenders. “Hello Theseus, I am Charlie, from Las Nevadas.” Tommy nodded as a greeting and followed Quackity further down the hall. “This is my Casino empire! Feel free to make it your home. “ Quackity said leading them up some huge stairs. It became busier and busier. Everybody wore strange clothing. Well maybe it wasn’t strange, maybe it was because they were in the future and Tommy wasn’t used to it. There were big chandeliers on the ceiling. It was a big hall. On each side were men standing, likely guards. Many wore a lot of gold, so all those people were also rich. “Q-Jinx how did you…” “Time does wonders.” He said with a grin.
“this is the main hall. Those stairs lead you to the casino and if you go that way, you’ll end up in our bar.” He said while pointing to the left. Quackity turned around. “We have a VIP area too of course. Its located on the right side if you go up.” Upstairs was a entrance with extra guards checking each guest trying to get in. “It looks really expensive.” Tommy noted. “It is.” They walked down a hall in the middle, where also, stood extra security. He lead them to a big office. Quackity sat down on the chair behind the desk and put he feet up. “Sit down.” He said pointing to a couch in front of the table. “Here.” Quackity throwed a card to him. “It’s my exclusive card. It gives you access to everything here for free. Don’t lose it.” Tommy nodded still not really understanding what had happened.
He actually wanted to lay down again. Even though he said he didn’t wanted to sleep anymore, his head felt dizzy. Quackity was always kind to him. He was always the bad example, but cared deeply. “Many things have changed since you went missing. The city; L’manberg was created by Wilbur.”
“Wait, Wilbur created a city?!”
“A nation actually. But now it’s called Manberg, so don’t get confused. You have a lot to learn about technology and other findings. Also, you should hide your horns. There aren’t any creatures with them except demons. Don’t go around saying you’re a god. They don’t have a good reputation.”
“What do you mean?”
“As I said, a lot has happened. You will learn about it…. eventually. Don’t worry about it too much.”
“Do you have Wilbur’s contact information? I guess he needs to know that I am still alive.” Quackity stiffened shook his head. “No they….. I haven’t had any interaction with them for decades. Just focus right now on getting a place for yourself.” He said quickly changing the subject.
There was a knock on the door. “Come in!” Said Quackity loudly. The door opened and a boy came in. “Tommy, meet Purpled.” Tommy waved awkwardly. “He will lead you to a room I prepared for you. It’s in another building.
Purpled led Tommy to another building. A very tall building, covered in tinted glass. The inside looked just as fancy as the other… mansion? They walked up to the reception. The woman greeted them with a wave. “Hi, could you give me the key of the third room?!” Purpled asked leaning over the counter. She nodded and bend over to grab a box with keys. She pulled out a small key. Smaller than a normal one, and gave it to Purpled. He gave her a thanks and went up to a big metal…. Box? (a lift Tommy later learned) After Purpled pressed a button, it went open and they stepped inside. He pressed a button again and they went up. “Our floor is on number 34, the top actually. You can open your door with a code, but take the key for just in case.” He said and handled the key over. After a PING! The doors opened.
“This is where Jinx, Charlie, Fundy and I live and you too now.” Wait living here? That was not the plan. Tommy would find Wilbur, Techno and Phil and then… well for now it didn’t matter. What mattered was that he would leave soon. “I thought that big-Q made it clear that I wouldn’t stay?!”
“Big-Q?” Purpled asked. Oh yeah… he was supposed to call him by that stupid nickname. “I meant Jinx.”
He shook his head. “Oh he told me that you would be staying for a while. Anyways follow me, I’ll lead you to your room.” Tommy would have to discuss this with Quackity later. It was big inside. It was all covered in white, black and red. They walked through the hallway and he opened the third door. “this is your room, well more like an apartment. That door there leads you to your bedroom.” He said. it had a living room and a kitchen. He led him to the bedroom. There was a big bouncy bed, a big closet, a desk with a weird device on it. In short, it was a big room. “Is this all for me?!” he nodded. “You can rest now, I have to do some stuff but I’ll be in my room, number 5. If you want, we could go and watch a movie later?” Watch a movie? What was that suppose to be? “Yeah, sure. I think I am going to rest some more for now. Thanks!” “You’re welcome!”
Tommy ended up eating an apple (because, you know, he hadn’t ate anything for decades) and browsing through the books that Quackity gave him with all the invention and changes that human kind had made. And apparently it was a lot. It was possible for a normal human to travel in 40 days or even 45 hours if you’re flying 24/7 on a thing called a plane. It was a total different world from what Tommy was used to. And his family has a big role in it too. He should get in contact with them to get to know more after he ‘settles is’. Why had nobody ever found him after al these years? Did they simply not care?
He laid down on his big bouncy bed. Why did it took so long to make these? Wrapping himself up in his big warm blanket he slowly started to fall asleep. It didn’t matter right now, it was a problem for tomorrow.
Tommy woke up the next day feeling better then ever. He knew a bit more about the world he was in, understood more. Although he had a weird dream. Maybe it was a memory.
Maybe Techno was right. Maybe it was better to have a talk with Wilbur. Maybe he would understand it better if Tommy explained that Dream wasn’t that bad. That Wilbur shouldn’t only focus on his first impression. Most of the time first impressions were bad. Wasn’t Dream like a cousin? Maybe he would understand that Dream didn’t meant it bad when he was playing nightmares. It was just a prank
He knocked on the door. It was quite, until he heard something shift. Slowly the handle went down and the door opened. In the door opening stood an angry Wilbur. “What do you need from me? Gremlin.” Tommy laughs nervously. “Hey Wil. I wanted to discuss Dream. I know that you’re not fond of-“ Wilbur doesn’t give him the chance to finish that sentence. “Tommy. We have talked about this. Dream is not a good guy and he is dangerous.” “But-“ “No Tommy, you don’t understand. He had a whole village hostage in their nightmares for three days! For. Three. Days!” “You know that, that was just a prank, that it didn’t went as planed!” Wilbur sighs. “You know damn well that, that wasn’t just some prank. He literally tortured a whole village for the sake of a prank!”
Wilbur still didn’t understand. Techno was wrong. “It was my idea alright! Its fine if you don’t like him but you can’t just try and break our friendship like that.” Tommy said and runed off, leaving Wilbur in the hall.
That was the last time he saw Wilbur. He couldn’t remember what happened after that. He probably went to Dream. He should ask Dream what happened after that. Where was Dream now anyway?
There was a knock on the door. “Tommy?!” he heard Purpled yell. “Yeah?!? Come in.” Purpled opened the door. “Its 10 am. I am making toasts and fried eggs. Would you like some too?” Tommy nodded. “Alright it will be ready in 10 minutes. My door is open, so you can just walk in.” He said and left.
Tommy stood up and went for a quick shower. It was much easier to use than a bucket with warm water. Also, the shampoo’s smelled much better. Tommy like the new findings. This would be his new life from now on. Does everyone live with these riches? After he was done and dressed up he made his way to the fifth room.
Purpled stood in the kitchen and fried the eggs. “How did you sleep?” Tommy sat down on one of the stools around the kitchen island. “Yeah, I slept pretty good.” Purpled let the egg slide on the toast and shove the plate to Tommy. “Thanks.”
“If you want I could show you the place. We could go to the swimming pool!” Tommy nodded. “That would be fun.”
After they ate, Purpled guided Tommy a tour.
A week went by and Tommy slowly began to adapt to this new world. They did fun things like going to the movies, bowling and swimming in the pool. He learned what games were and how to use the internet. But some things still confused him. Like that nobody cared about the Gods anymore. No more blessing were asked and nobody knew them anymore.
Quackity would’t let him go of Las Nevadas. Still saying that Tommy didn’t understand the world well enough. Of course, Tommy had other plans in mind. He was just waiting for the right moment. But still hoped that Quackity would Tommy let go willingly. So here he stood, in front of his office. He knocked three times and waited patiently. He could hear the guests talking and laughing down the hall. They were always noisy. Tommy was glad that he lived in another building, or he wouldn’t get any sleep.
“Come in.”
He blinked out of his thoughts. Right, Quackity. He opened the door and stepped inside before closing it again. Even though Quackity spend a lot with Tommy the past week, it was noticeable that he was still a busy man.
Quackity was reading some papers and sorting things out while the TV on the other side of the room was playing silently on the background. Tommy sat down on the couch across the desk and leaned back.
Quackity looked up from his paperwork. “Is everything alright, Tommy?”
Tommy bit his lip. “No everything is alright, but….”
“but?” He sat up..
“I need to get out of here.” He spat out. “I love it here you know. But I need to find Wil.”
Quackity signed placing the papers on the table. “Tommy, you know that the world there is not save. The world has changed. A lot.”
Tommy clenched his fists. “I know but-“
“No buts. It is not a fun, careless place out there. Things are different. You’re s-“
“BIG-Q, YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND. I AM A FUCKING GOD. I WON’T DIE.” He gulped. “You know that I have many wifes waiting for me out there.
I need to find my family and tell them that I am back. They must be worried. You must know that because you’ve experienced it yourself, haven’t you?” The way Quackity reacted when Tommy woke up, he looked so…. So relieved. He must have thought it was al over.
“Tommy, you family has been long gone. Wilbur was the last one and he disappeared decades ago, but Phil and… Techno long before that. They been gone for centuries.”
He froze. What?!
“W-what do you mean they’re gone.” Tommy narrowed his eyes. Quackity eyes softened. “Like I said. They also, went missing after you. One by one.”
“That’s even more a reason to go and search for them. Why haven’t you looked for them?” “Tommy we have-“ He furiously opened the door and ran outside.
He knew this all this time and didn’t even bothered to let him know? Was he keeping this so that he would stay? His thoughts started to run through his head. It didn’t matter anymore. He has to leave.
