Later in the afternoon once the movie ended, Tim and Lucy are on the couch by themselves. The pair still cuddled together with Lucy’s head on Tim’s chest and his arm draped over her shoulder. Tim can feel Lucy’s rhythmic breaths fanning across his shirt. His eyes lock onto the curves and lines of her face, taking in all of the details he can see. The hand not rubbing circles onto Lucy’s shoulder comes to rouse the woman awake stroking the apple of her cheek with the back of his index finger.
After a few caresses, Tim adds soft calls of her name, “Hey, Lu.” First, followed with trying her name in a sing-song voice. “Lu-cy, Lu-cy.” She stirs, huffing a deep exhale but still burrows deeper into Tim’s warmth. “Come on, Lu. I have a question for you.”
“I’m listening.” She says without moving or opening her eyes.
“I’m glad you’re listening but I want to see your eyes, my love.”
Lucy picks her head up and pivots on her chin to look eye to eye with Tim, “Yes?”
“Lucy, do you want to go to dinner with me on our next day off? I was thinking Italian.”
“That sounds wonderful, Tim.” Lucy replies and leans up to cup his face placing a quick kiss to his cheek. Tim intercepts her movement turning his head to capture her lips. Initially, they were gentle. Kisses feather light before Lucy shifts her position to lean forward deeper into Tim’s warmth. Hands gripping and relaxing his shoulders and his to her waist.
After some time like high schoolers, Tim leans back to say, “As much as I wish we could continue this for hours, we both have shifts tomorrow.” Lucy begins to whine, but Tim interrupts, “Stop that. Just imagine how sweet our date will be.” Without waiting for a response, Tim stands, gathers his belongs and heads to the door. He tosses a “Love you! See you at the station,” and offers a wave as the door shuts between them.
Lucy flops back onto the couch, takes a few refreshing breaths, and stands to lock up her apartment for the night. How was she going to survive shifts until their next day off for their date.
