Chapter 2: Bonus scenes

Notes:

As promised, the bonus scenes! Two of them are from older Yoongi's perspective, because he also went through a lot when younger Jimin just showed up in the future out of nowhere, and I thought it would be cute to see what he thought about all of it :)

Hope you enjoy! <3

Chapter Text

One

It's Monday, and Jimin has invited Yoongi over to his house after work, unable to spend even a single day not seeing each other after their confessions yesterday.

He's just quickly tidying up the living room while they wait for their delivery to arrive when Yoongi calls out from the kitchen: "Uh, Jimin, why do you have a cake in your fridge?"

Cake?

Jimin is making his way over to see for himself when Yoongi is already continuing: "And why does it say 'Lesson learned: bravery pays off. Enjoy it! Xoxo – J'? That's weird. Who's J?"

Jimin stops in his tracks, ending up in the doorway of the kitchen as he stares at the scene in front of him with big eyes: Yoongi holding up an indeed big, festive cake that Jimin had no idea existed, signed by a J?

It takes him a moment, but then he gasps as he realises: JJimin. Older Jimin. He had never thought about it, but where would older Jimin have gone when he himself was in the future, if not to the past, to Jimin's own apartment?

While Jimin had been meeting older Yoongi in the future, older Jimin must have been stuck in this apartment, and… He bought a cake for his younger self?

That's actually pretty hilarious, and Jimin can't stop the big smile growing on his face, making Yoongi look at him with even more confusion in his eyes.

Bravery pays off. Because older Jimin already knew what younger Jimin had done, since those were his own memories. Jesus, time travelling is wild.

He only realises that Yoongi is still standing there, looking lost with the cake in his hands, when there's a hesitant 'uh, Jimin?', and he shakes his head as he steps closer, getting a better view of the cake.

"Right, uh, I might have bought that one? To celebrate?"

"Celebrate?" Yoongi replies, "You bought a cake to celebrate your own confession before you even confessed? That's what you spent Saturday doing, instead of actually answering my texts and calls?"

Jimin knows he should probably keep a straight face but he simply can't, a grin fighting its way onto his face as he answers: "Yes? I mean, clearly? With the cake being here and all…"

It seems like Yoongi has a lot more to say and ask about that, but Jimin simply moves past him, opening the drawer to get two forks.

"Well, can't let it go to waste now, can we? It looks frigging tasty!"

And if he dedicates the first bite to his future self, secretly lifting up this fork in salute, Yoongi will never know.

Two

"You baked him a cake?"

Yoongi looks at Jimin, his Jimin, who had indeed been there next to him in the morning, thank god, taking in his cheeky expression and feeling his heart melt, so incredibly glad to have him back again.

"Well, yes, I had to do something with my time… Plus, I of course actually remembered finding a cake when I got back from time travelling, so I was just doing my part in keeping up the timeline…Well, technically, you found the cake, but semantics, I guess…"

Yoongi's eyes grow wide as he suddenly remembers.

"Wait, the cake with the mysterious note, that was you?"

Jimin takes his time to cuddle in closer, rubbing his face against Yoongi's chest like a cat for a moment before he looks back up, a playful grin on his face.

"Well obviously, younger me couldn't bake for shit…"

Yoongi takes a moment to process, the whole thing still seeming completely surreal and surprisingly complex, but then he needs to ask: "But wait, how did you know I wouldn't realise something was up? I mean, you supposedly baked a whole cake with some weird-ass message to yourself on it and then forgot about it? How didn't I realise? That was fishy as hell!"

That just earns him another grin, now paired with a full-body giggle.

"Let me see… Firstly, you were so whipped back then that I think you wouldn't have even noticed if the kitchen was on fire –"

Yoongi's 'Yah!' only seems to please Jimin, and he continues with his eyes still barely visible in his glee: "And secondly, we were both young and dumb enough not to notice that the cake was actually homemade: both younger me and younger you thought it was just store-bought. As I said, younger me couldn't bake for shit and you weren't much better, which meant that we had no knowledge on cakes, so I knew I'd get away with it…"

It's a lot to take in, and Yoongi shakes his head as he pulls Jimin closer to him. It's silent for a bit, both of them lost to their own thoughts, but then Yoongi kisses the top of Jimin's head, holding him even tighter.

"God, I'm so fucking glad to have you back; no more crazy time travelling shit from now on anymore, okay?"

Jimin is clearly not done with being playful yet though, because he looks up from his spot on Yoongi's chest with glittering eyes, grin still on his face.

"What, you didn't enjoy younger me? But I was so cute!"

"Yes", Yoongi replies, "Whenever you weren't busy freaking the fuck out, looking at me as if I was an alien, or trying to pull details about the future out of me…"

That earns him another giggle, Jimin saying: "Oh, right, I totally found out about our engagement… Smart younger me, I'm proud of myself. But what you're saying is that I win? Even though I'm old and boring?"

This time it's Yoongi's turn to grin. "Well, it's not like you were actually in your younger body, otherwise younger you might have been serious competition…"

The indignant squawk he gets in reply only makes him laugh harder, and they play-fight for a bit before Yoongi shushes Jimin with a deep kiss, rolling on top of him and effectively pinning him to the mattress with his body. He makes sure to only draw back a bit, enjoying the look of the flush on Jimin's cheeks, the way his lips are already swollen from kisses, as he says: "No, but seriously, you win by far… For one, I can actually kiss you without feeling like a creep –"

He gets another squawk, one he immediately silences with another kiss, "But it's also quite nice that you actually know me, the current me –"

He kisses a trail down Jimin's neck, following it back up with his lips before he whispers in Jimin's ear, making him shiver underneath him at the sensation: "Plus, not to forget, you're way more experienced, which may just come in handy in a moment…"

Before Jimin can throw any kind of retort back at him he grinds down on him, making sure that the only sound leaving Jimin is a moan, and from then on they both don't speak anymore, choosing to focus on each other's bodies instead.

It's only when they're both spent and tangled in a sweaty mess of limbs that Yoongi whispers into Jimin's hair: "I love you…"

And Yoongi smiles broadly when he gets a soft 'Love you, too' back, thinking about how, right about this time in the morning but then six years earlier, Jimin must be arriving at younger Yoongi's door, startling him half to death with his love confession. That's at least one question that younger Jimin had asked that he directly got answered: he was the one to say the words first.

Three

The clock on the oven shows 3:47 by the time Yoongi hears someone stumbling up to the front door, and he listens on in amusement as Jimin seems to have trouble typing in the passcode, lots of whining and cursing interspersed by the soft beeping sounds of the keypad sounding from the hallway.

Yoongi lets him try for a bit more, curious if he'll eventually manage to get the passcode right, but at a particularly sorrowful whine he can't help himself and walks over to the door, opening it to a very drunk-looking Jimin, slumped against the doorframe.

"Hi honey, is the door being mean?"

"So mean," Jimin pouts, immediately letting himself fall forwards into Yoongi's arms. "Is' not right, the – the code. Yoongi, someone changed it…"

"Hm, I'm sure they did," Yoongi shushes, already pulling on Jimin's thighs to lift him into his arms, and Jimin goes pliantly, immediately wrapping around him like a koala and resting his head heavily on Yoongi's shoulder.

They make it to the couch after a small detour to get Jimin a big glass of water, and Yoongi ignores Jimin's whines when he pulls him back from his hold, forcing him to drink the full glass and only accepting him back in his embrace once he finished it.

"You wanna go to sleep or do you want to stay here for a bit more?" he softly asks, knowing how Jimin often wants to stay up a bit longer after drinking to give his body the time to digest, and he's proven right when there's a soft 'Stay' sounding from somewhere under his chin.

He's just preparing for a period of comfortable silence, rubbing soothingly over Jimin's back in subconscious patterns, when Jimin suddenly mumbles: "So glad I time travelled… Might 'ave not been h're now otherwise…"

That's enough to make Yoongi's hands still, gaze travelling down to check if Jimin is actually still awake and not talking in his sleep. Jimin's eyes are still open though, so Yoongi asks a soft: "What?"

"Time travelling," Jimin repeats as if it's obvious. "'S why I confessed. 'Cause – 'cause future you said I did. And should."

"Right, what exactly did you drink tonight, Jimin-ah? Or did Taehyung feed you something other than alcohol this time?"

Taehyung and Jimin's bestie-nights are known to get a bit out of hand, mostly ending with both of them horribly hungover the next day, but today's weird rambling is on the next level.

"Nah," Jimin directly replies, sitting up straighter so his hazy eyes can look into Yoongi's, hands grabbing onto Yoongi's shoulders like he's afraid he'll fall off his lap if he doesn't hold on for dear life. "T‘is true, I time travelled. Met older you, older than now. You had, like –"

Jimin clumsily takes hold of some strands of Yoongi's hair, pulling them straight as if to measure their length. "Had long hair, far longer than now. Was pretty. And – and we still had Holly!"

He points to their newly adopted dog's pillow, luckily not actually waking the poor thing up with his loud talking, looking slightly nauseous by the time he turns his head back to Yoongi, as if moving had been too dangerous in his drunken state.

"That's – that's why I said to take him," he says, looking somehow nostalgic and pouty at the same time. "Because he's our dog. From the future."

The story is getting pretty wild by now, and Yoongi isn't quite sure what to do with this, next to calling Taehyung tomorrow and giving him a stern talking-to.

"Right, you chose Holly because we had Holly in the future? That makes… sense, I guess? Jimin, you sure you okay? Need some more water?"

The dubious tone he had used had clearly been too obvious, because Jimin pouts harder, hitting his shoulder.

"You don't believe me! But it's true, I – The night before I confessed, at the club when you told me about the date, I met this older lady when I was crying outside –"

"Wait, you were crying outside? You never told me!"

Jimin doesn't react, just talking on, earlier sleepiness completely forgotten: "I was crying outside, and, and there was this lady, and I helped her, and then – Then she told me all this stuff, and the next morning I woke up and I was in our bed! Our future bed, in our future house. Not this one, our next one. I think."

There's no stopping Jimin from telling his tale, and Yoongi listens in bewilderment as Jimin talks about meeting older Yoongi, learning that they got together, and then travelling back in time to confess to younger Yoongi. It's completely insane and Yoongi is still quite convinced that Jimin at least took something else next to his usual alcohol tonight, but he knows better than to interrupt, letting Jimin finish his story.

"And – And that's how we got together. Through time travel. Just so you know…"

He seems so satisfied now, almost as if he's genuinely happy to finally have gotten the story off his chest, eyes drooping again now that he has finished his tale.

And Yoongi can't help himself, he loves this man to bits, so he only kisses him as gently as he can, holding his face with both hands as he whispers: "Thank you for telling me. Let's get you to bed now, okay?"

There are some more soft whines and cutesy behaviours as Yoongi gets Jimin through his evening routine and into his pyjamas, and it's only when Jimin has dozed off against his chest, hands twitching where they're holding onto Yoongi's shirt, that Yoongi allows himself to shake his head and softly snort.

Time travelling, how did he even imagine that?

As if…
