Chapter Text
Caeldori tapped the quill against her chin. She just was not quite sure how to end it off. She had been there, but it could be difficult to do justice to the events she thought as well as wondering if she might should provide some sort of commentary. It was just hard to find the right words to describe everything or provide something that would be insightful to future generations. She was a writer, not a philosopher.
After quite a while of deep thought, the redhead heard a fierce pounding at her door. It was at that point that Caeldori realized that she had lost track of time. Fortunately, she had already put most of her ornamental armor on, but still, it was embarrassing to be late on such an important day.
"Sorry," She apologized to her sister after opening the door.
"We aren't late yet. Busy writing?"
"Yeah, sorry about that. We need to hurry. Would look bad for the Wing Commander and Court Magician to be late to the coronation."
Morgan looked fondly at the portrait she kept in her room. She was extremely happy to find the portrait her parents had made at her mother's insistence had survived everything. She was barely a year old in it, but the important part was that it was a reminder of her parents. She hoped they would be proud of her. She had tried to rebuild Ylisse as best she could.
It was not as bad off as in Lucina's world, but there was still plenty of work to do solidifying her role. Fortunately, her brand, wielding Falchion, and having saved them from the tyrant helped her secure the throne. It was still not something she particularly enjoyed or wanted, but it was her birthright. To abandon it would be selfish and disrespectful to her mother and grandfather that came before her.
With a knock to her door, she turned away from the portrait. It was time.
"Wish me luck. Mom. Dad. I promise I'll be the best Exalt that I can."
Morgan walked out into the fully restored grand hall flanked by her Wing Commander and Court Magician. The dress she wore was white and blue with gold detailing. It featured a breast plate letting everyone know she was a warrior Exalt as well as long, fine, fur-trimmed coat. She did have Falchion and the Fire Emblem as well. It was ceremonial dress at its core, but she also knew it had been what her mother had wanted her to wear when she ascended the throne.
She had technically been Exalt for years, but she had never officially been crowned before. It was decided that it would be good for morale and to settle any succession questions once and for all if she were to be properly coronated so she relented.
Admittedly, Morgan somewhat zoned out during the ceremony. It was not until she felt the crown placed on her head that she snapped back to reality and rose. Clutching Falchion, she and her entourage left out the grand doors once again, this time headed toward the large balcony that had last been used to announce Cindy's royal birth.
Receiving looks of support from her former retainers, she smiled back and nodded for the guards to open the door. The sun was almost blinding for a second as she walked out and faced the crowd. They were happy to see her. It was a bit of a relief given how far down the line of succession she had been in addition to having left for so long.
The world had changed. Regna Ferox was staying isolated again, Valm was once again teetering on the edge of a power struggle, and Plegia had been left without a leader. That was until it was revealed that Morgan was the granddaughter of a king. A king that was not particularly popular, but Morgan had achieved hero status meaning that for the first time in centuries, the two lands would share a monarch once she was crowned Queen of Plegia in a few months.
The world was different, but Morgan would do her best to lead in it. She would never forget either set of parents after remembering her birth mother. She would make them proud. She would lead their people to the best of her ability, and when she tripped, she would rely on others to pick her back up.
Raising Falchion into the air, the people cheered harder and louder. Their Exalt was home.
